Suite Guarantee Question

Recommended Posts

My boyfriend and I are thinking of booking the suite guarantee as we have decided we have no preference between junior and grand suite and the guarantee is quite a bit cheaper than both.

With that said, after searching a bit I have seen multiple people say that when it came to assigning, they were moved to a balcony and refunded a small amount and apologized to.

We would be booking in Allure of the Seas and I was always under the impression that a guarantee is just that, a guarantee.

As anyone experienced anything with the guarantee's that would recommend us to steer away from them even tho they are a $500pp savings?

Thanks in advance!

We book a lot of suite guarantees and have never had a problem... but we tend to book well in advance. Typically the room is assigned within 2 weeks and that is still many months away from departure. We have two guarantee suites all assigned in October in fact. Both juniors sadly but ah well!

I suspect the stories we hear are more likely to happen with last minute bookings where the ship fills up before room assignment is made and occasionally there are problems. Still not good from my point of view, but it's a tactic you see all over, including the airlines.

We've done 3 suite guarantees, and received 2 JS and 1 GS stateroom. I think the likelihood of being assigned less than a JS is very low.

One caveat though - I see some other staterooms being called "suites" now on some ships. I'd be wary of being assigned one of those VP categories without a balcony.

Do you know of those kind of rooms on the allure ship?

Do you still get double points and suite lounge benefits on Oasis class?

We have done the guarantee probably 10 or more times. We have never gotten below a Junior suite. Our next cruise on Oasis we did a guarantee and within 6 hours of final payment got assigned a Grand Suite. We even got an owners suite one time as well. We always got double points as well.

Of course you get double points. You are paying for a suite. JS and above get two points per night.

^ that is very much a rare exception, not the norm.

You'll earn double points when assigned a junior suite or above, but must be in a grand suite or above to receive Suite Lounge benefits.

Thank you but is this still the case with the guaranteed suite and getting a GS because there are better benefits on Oasis class ships?.

You will get the full privileges of the room you are assigned with the guarantee, just as if you'd booked that room specifically.

Booked the W Guarantee today. Assigned in 10 min to Junior Balcony Suite. It was a connecting. Called and switched. Happy with decision as it was much less than if I had chosen and I ended up choosing in the end. Very odd pricing. $1724 pp for guarantee. $2286 pp to choose
