Carnival Fascination has a 9/24 cruise scheduled out of San Juan. As of this morning, they still haven't told their passengers what's going to happen. See

http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2475180

Do Carnival and RC share same port in SJ? Carnival just announced cancellation of upcoming three cruises out of SJ and Barbados. Said would be several weeks as they were still accessing damage to cruise port but it took on bad damage.

No, just got confirmation that Carnival uses the terminal at Old San Juan, not the Pan Am terminal that Royal uses.

Just in from Carnival's text messaging service:

"Carnival Fascination September 24, 2017 -

As a result of damage to our cruise terminal and the uncertainty of when the Port of San Juan will reopen, we have no alternative but to cancel your cruise. A full refund will be automatically processed. An email with more information will follow. For more details, please visit www.carnival.com/travel-alerts."

At least it's a full cash refund.

Carnival has cancelled sailings out of SJ until 10/8, at least giving their customers an opportunity to potentially rebook on another ship. What date are you on Clarea?

Carnival has never used the Pan American pier always the Old Town pier. RCI embarks/disembarks from PA pier but day ports at OT pier.

Thought this might be useful info for anyone still planning on sailing in the next couple weeks.

Just saw this on the Marriott Stellaris Facebook page. We have this hotel booked for our cruise in November but since they don't list any specifics on timeframe I'm going to hold off on canceling. We'll see what happens down the road.

Due to Hurricane Maria, the San Juan Marriott Resort and Stellaris Casino is not taking any new reservations at this time. We are currently assessing the damage and will provide updates as they are available. The safety of our guests and associates is always a top priority and there are no reported injuries at this time. We are waiving cancellation and change fees for specific arrival dates and suggest our customers call 1-800-228-9290 for more information about their reservations. Those in countries outside of the United States seeking information about their reservations should call the Marriott toll-free number in their country. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by this storm.

Marriott International has established a resource line for those looking for information about guests and associates who may have been impacted by the hurricane. The number is (866) 211-4610. For those calling outside the U.S. and Canada, the number is +1 402-390-3265. The resource line is staffed from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. (ET).

I agree. What next? A 1 or 2 day cruise with 80% onboard credit?

And yes, I also know what the contract says but at some point it goes beyond a modified itinerary and just plain isn't what was sold to the consumer.

I find it unlikely a Wednesday departure of incoming guests would occur

Great Point! Could this really happen:

"Due to the damage at San Juan Port, we will be sailing a 12 hour cruise to nowhere, instead of the 7 day cruise you paid for - we know you are disappointed so we will provide you a 92.8% future cruise credit as long as you book with us again in the next year..........."

Is there any chance that RCI could relocate the Adventure for the next few months to another port (FLL or MIA?) until San Juan is back on it's feet?

With no power, and many of the hotels closed (and damaged), how can 2500-3000 passengers converge on San Juan pre-cruise anytime soon? Not to mention the airport.....

I am sailing November 11th and I'm already in contingency mode......

Prayers first and foremost are with the people of Puerto Rico....

What I'm wondering about too is how will people get from the Airport to the Cruise Port? Or any transportation for that matter, eg. to your hotel. May not be that easy.

You have the same questions as us.. and we are supposed to sail on 30-Sept. Carnival has canceled all the way through 8-Oct apparently from San Juan. But sure, the pier a couple hundred yards away is good to go according to RCL.

I think we will know much more in a couple of weeks.

The captain said during today's briefing: "it will be months before power is back on in San Juan."

Bob, I just wish that RCI would give us some decent lead time so that we can change flights, choose another ship.....or just all around make other arrangements. I think Carnival did the right thing for their customers by simply cancelling the next several cruises and giving them a chance to re-book their cruise out of another port. While I pray that San Juan recovers by November, I just don't see that as realistic given the scope of damage.

I agree with you Robyn, but we've seen RC in these situations before and they consistently delay making a decision to cancel. Cancelling cruises means they have to refund real money (not just a future cruise credit) and they are loathe to give back real money.

They really do make us feel like we are hostage to the company. If the wife and I had a choice to merely cancel due to the circumstances for our Saturday trip, we could redo our flight with United and make an alternate plan for our vacation, but as of now, it's a sit and wait game with them. I don't see how a pier only a couple hundred yards away could be in good condition if the main piers there are a mess.

This is our first RCL cruise and honestly, it's probably the last with the games being played. They showed people in San Juan in a long line this morning on the Weather Channel waiting to buy $20 in rationed gas. Also was mentioned long lines at the only powered ATM to get a max of $500 if needed. A grocery store was open but only letting 5 people in at a time with security. Still out of power on the island and supplies limited. I just don't get the runaround, but then again I don't own a multi million dollar cruise company.

I really like Carnival, however, they do have a benefit going on here. They had a sister ship to their SJU ship in dry dock in the Bahamas that had to leave and go out to sea thus throwing off their timing. So, they are moving the Fascination from SJU to I think Jacksonville to cover for the ship that is delayed in dry dock. Good for customers to know ahead of time for sure, but they don't stand to lose quite as much $$ as Royal.
