Mariner of the Seas Refurbishment

I don't think Izumi will go up in the VCL area. Adventure is in dry dock now, and they're putting Izumi on the promenade, with just the DL and SL in the VCL area.

Hmmmm..... so DL + SL in the VCL area.... any mention of Coastal Kitchen? I didn't see any.

So I guess the "nightclub" atmosphere will still be up in the VCL like the other Voyager class ships?

That is my guess, based on what is happening during Adventure and Independence's dry docks.

No mention of CK on Mariner.

Ok. I figure with shorter cruises there will be a massive need for a "party" place aka white party/Bahamas beach party/etc. I also thought they could get rid of the ice rink and redesign studio B the permanent nightclub/party place ... maybe throwback studio B into a two tier venue??

Disappointing not to see Boleros as an addition, especially sailing out of Miami. Majesty's Boleros was always hopping!

Also they’re adding more meeting facilities in the hopes they can book more corporate type 3/4 day sailing meetings.

I've read online that a meeting space will be turned into a Japanese restaurant.

This is confusing.

You said Adventure was getting a Suite Lounge. Your link was for Mariner. What confirmation you have Adventure is getting SL?

Sorry, thought you were referring to Mariner.

But yes, Suite Lounge on Adventure: https://www.cruisecritic.com/news/news.cfm?ID=7775

I think it is also reflected on deck plans.

Thanks. A CC post is not confirmation. Sorta like CNN reporting. I suspect AOS will leave drydock wit a Suite Lounge.

Now do you believe me? http://creative.rccl.com/Sales/Royal/RCI_Deck_Plans/Deployment_2018_2019/Adventure_Deck_Plans_Reference_Guide_2018_2019.pdf

She's getting a Suite Lounge.

Leave politics out of this.

If decks plans are accurate, Mariner seems to already have a Boleros (deck 4).

Those Boleros on Voyager class ships had the tiniest dance floor. The best ones were on Sovereign class and Enchantment.

It certainly looks this way. Like I said, I suspect AOS will be converting over to a SL and eliminating the CL. The deck plans you posted seen to indicate the same thing. Mariner is scheduled for Suite Lounge as well but deck plans do not show it.

My bad, I should've known this as I've been on Mariner before she left North America, and then Navigator after her refurb in 2014. Most recently was on Adventure a few months before her refurb and it wasn't Boleros yet (still called the Lobby Bar I think), and then twice on Explorer which still has The Tavern in that space. Did Voyager ever have a Boleros?... . Voyager has The Tavern now according to deck plans.

Spot on with your comment Bob re the teeniest dance floor... we found ourselves dancing in front of the entrance to the casino many times. The best Boleros is Oasis Class ... but didn't matter which ship, always a standing room only crowd watching from the sidelines. Wish RCL would convert the Lotus Lounge on Deck 5 into Boleros.

Ah well....

I just wish they would drop Nassau and go to Key West instead, then it would be worth booking...

Mariner (a Voyager class) may be too big to go into Key West. It's a very

difficult and shallow shifting sandy channel to get into.

Key West stop gets canceled many times when it's windy.

Between Izumi, Suite Lounge, Diamond Club...is this the beginning of the end of the Viking Crown Lounge on Voyager class? I imagine the former deck 9 CL become cabins.

That's what I was thinking also.

Remember the old CL location on the Radiance class ships? They turned it into a family JS.

I know they tested a Voyager class ship there once, but maybe they felt they didn't have enough safety margin.

What is c/l d/l and s/l?

DL = Diamond Lounge (open to all Diamonds and above)

CL= Concierge Lounge or Club.(Open to all Full Suite Guests and Diamond Plus and Pinnacle)

SL= Suite Lounge (Open to Suite Guests and Pinnacle)

On ships with SL, there is no CL.

It's a difficult channel to navigate indeed. Lots of sand bars.

We used to say of the water color: Blue..blue go on through, White..white..think you might...Brown..brown..run aground!

That and all the lobster trap buoys all over...make boating a challenge down there for sure! :o
