Msc booking worries

Hi guys, I am a bit hesitant about booking with MSC, they look like they have fabulous ships and great itineraries, but, I have read so many negative reports about MSC, I really don’t know if I should risk trying them. We really like the itinerary of the new ship Bliss, and if we booked we would like to try the yacht club, but as you know it doesn’t come cheap, so do we risk it ?.

Negative reviews of YC are few and far between. There's a reason for the high level of positive Yacht Club reviews. We'll be in YC on Splendida the day after tomorrow for our 5th YC sailing - this time for 28 nights - can't wait! Nothing comes near to it for value for what it offers.

The Bliss is an NCL ship.

We loved our Yacht Club cruise last week. But by now there is a ton of information and opinions about Seaside so if after reviewing it you are still very nervous I would suggest you book something you are comfortable with. It would be terrible to constantly worry about your choice.

You choose to read the bad ones so just don't book it. There is nothing but great reviews on the YC.

Book Bellissima Yacht Club April 6th 2019 and we will give you some advice on board as we will be in there for 2 weeks. This is the most excited we have been for a holiday ever and we’ve been about a bit!

On our recent Divina Yacht Club we had our best holiday ever everything was just perfect the butler is not intrusive in any way. A great experience in the Yacht Club. We however would explore the ship after dinner and head to the show followed by the music or entertainment that appealed the most. Then a quick top sail lounge tea or coffee whilst ordering a pizza or my wife headed towards the chocolates!

Come on in.....

Ric, from the response I got, the OP is not interested in the (positive) YC reviews - only the negative reviews from others who weren't in YC, despite the fact that they referenced YC in the OP.

Hello from Canada. I'm going to throw my 2 cents worth in on this topic. Firstly, I have only been on two cruises, both on Royal Caribbean. Both were wonderful trips, not perfect but what is? Due to some fortunate situations I am booked to sail on the MSC Seaview this June! I am not rich by any means and only take a vacation about every 4 to 5 years, so for me going on a cruise is a big event for me. I booked with MSC for a few reasons, price and the dates available to cruise and location so this was perfect for me. I was a little concerned at first about trying something new, but what's life without a bit of variety. I did a lot of research before I booked, so I am very confident I know what I am getting into so to say. I know that the ship is pretty much brand new and can have issues, as well as it will not have the same style of cruising as RCCL. I have read many reviews oh this site and many others, including Youtube, and find many legitimate and informing reviews, both good and bad, but also noticed one thing, you have to take everything with a grain of salt, as sometimes some people just look for the worst in everything and can never be pleased. As I said, my past cruises were not perfect, but there were FAR more good than not good, making the past cruises very memorable experiences. I understand that certain things will be different on this cruise, but I am open to new things and am very excited about this. Not that I am counting days or anything..... (81 Days !).

So I would suggest to you, do a lot of looking on line on what type of atmosphere the line offers, and what is important to you, such as amenities, cabin styles, food etc and base the decision on that. Remember everyone has different tastes, so some might say the food is terrible while others find it excellent. Also, remember that cruise lines want their ships built and in service yesterday, and if having teething issues, or a new crew is worrying to you, book a cruise on a not new ship. Good luck and happy cruising!

wellllll not sure thats totally fair..

i am hesitant as well, and im on a complimentary cruise BUT it will sill mean a week of having to pay for room service ( used to free with CCL) it means if we want water we bring vouchers to a bar or the like ( im used to opening my fridge and having many smaller bottles of water) it means having to PAY for water.. even when we go to the steakhouse, bring your own water or pay for it? ( very different not sure i know of any restaurant or cruise ship where we have to pay for water, does anyone else know of one?)

Im hesitant about reviews explaining the language barrier so bad you order one thing and get the next...

i am concerned with entertainment.. having to book it rather than make your way to teh lounge

im concerned with where i will be eating, in a dining room ( hopefully) or the buffet area.. .yes the buffet area is nice when converted to a dining space for dinner, but a duck is a duck, and a buffet area is a buffet area

then there are reports of odors, the room are smaller, teh pools are so deep is not the usual hang out in the pool to cool off, you get in the pool to swim or hang on to stay afloat ( different)

so while i am very much looking forward to this new adventure with MSC, ( i am 50+ with Carnival and have cruised Royal) there is still room for concern or wonder

I am looking at this from the standpoint of a week of cruising i may or may not enjoy.. almost like dining in a great restaurant and ordering what you know you like rather than trying something different.. if you dont like it ot no fault of the restaurant, oh well wasted dinner date

and thats how im thinking of the week on MSC. I could have done a complimentary week on Carnival exact same week... but didnt and hope i dont wish i had

so its not fair to suggest he has made up his mind before hand so maybe stay home

i havent made up my mind that MSC is going to be bad, but that doesnt mean i dont have concerns....

if i were thinking of YC and what that costs, i would be super concerned, flip it whatever way you want, there are many negative reviews. He didnt say there were no positives, but enough negatives to say well this really does exist or this really is the case... and he has good point

I think it is wonderful that you receive complimentary cruises. However, :confused:I wish we could have enjoyed the free water on Carnival - which we had to pay for on our last few trips. No free water and no little mini bottles of water in the fridge either and that includes the suite. It must have been part of your complimentary cruise package.

I understand you are concerned because once you are used to something it may be hard to try something new. It is also nice that you are going to go with the wait and see approach. We are so excited to finally sail on MSC we have no concerns and all of the negative reviews we threw in the dumpster. Looking forward to an exciting cruise.

Personally, I prefer to look at all of the positives and take negatives with a grain of salt as each person has their own viewpoint. We paid for the YC because gee whiz it sounds wonderful and we admit to being spoiled in the NCL Haven/Suites. MSC YC is also less expensive than NCL.

I hope you will enjoy your cruise!

What a dilemma. ;)

We believe that you will enjoy EITHER ship.

We have sailed NCL Breakaway, Getaway and recently Escape; from Spa Balcony to Haven.

We have sailed MSC Divina and Seaside B2B's last March and this recent March.

A comment, that we'd recommend you either book a Spa Balcony or a Stateroom with a Spa Pass for the week. NCL absolutely has the best design, most comfortable and purposeful SPA at sea (on our cruises) for NON-SPA TREATMENT cruisers. It's a must.

Comparing COST, keep the apples compared to the apples. Adjust for ~

NCL Bliss - STATEROOM COST, Spa for week, UBP (excludes coffee we believe) and Specialty Dining (for this purpose, every night and other lunch if open) and the Specialty Dining is very, very good. Re: NON-COST items, boarding, port disembarking, cruise disembarking to keep it short.

MSC Seaside - STATEROOM COST INCLUDES the Spa for the week, INCLUDES the premium BP, INCLUDES Specialty Dining for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner, INCLUDES complimentary tapas size apps and desserts from Breakfast into the Evening, INCLUDES a Private Lounge (like a private bridge), butler server on gorgeous and comfortable furniture, INCLUDES a Private Sun Deck, with Private Pool and Private Hot Tubs and a LOUNGER FOR EVERYONE with pool attendants who spread and tuck your towels and assist your ANY or EVERY want from the Private Pool Bar and GRILLE (the nicest, freshest, highest quality and chef managed at sea on our cruises). Re: NON-COST items, butler assisted walk on reception and boarding, private concierge, daily paper (pick one), port priority butler escort off and on ship, and the same for cruise disembarking.

We might have 'tipped our choice. ;p:D

Again, we really do believe that you can't miss with either choice. Good luck.

(We're sailing Escape again from NY to Bermuda in the fall and Seaside B2B again next March)

So, will you be doing a 'Live from Splendida 28 Day?

We'd love, at least (if you could), give some updates as to demographics of the passengers, language issues (if any), temperatures along the way, port briefs, etc. It is a very interesting itinerary to us looking ahead.
