Royal Caribbean Visa Signature card rewards redemption

Recommended Posts

Thank you for this information. Could I also go to casino, register my Sign Sail card ar a slot machine add on any OBC and cash out? I was able to do this on MSC in February since we had so much OBC and certainly wasnt going to use since in YC and cashed out on the third day or so ans used the cash on excursions.

Just want to know if I can do the same on Allure.

Thanks.

No, there is no automated capability to cash out just using your SeaPass card on slot machines.

You can get a cash advance any day at the casino cashier cage, but that will cost you 5% if your onboard account is secured by a credit or debit card.

I have used my points for OBC several times and it has always been there when I boarded, but almost never shows up before hand. Just take the printed receipt and you should have no trouble.

They state on the website that they prioritize the sooner sailings, so for the person whose cruise is in two weeks, they will fill those redemptions first, before the sailings two months out in June. It isn’t unprofessional it is to insure the sooner sailings get their credits.

Just redeem, take the receipt and enjoy.

They are supposed to use non-refundable OBC first.

Visa points OBC is fully refundable, get it in cash on the last day, or they will credit it to the credit card you have on file for your onboard account.

Bob, Thank you very much.

Rick

Where exactly would I find my on board credit I redeemed from the Visa card? I don't see it available even though I redeemed them. Our cruise is 5/5/2018

You should see a pop-up when you enter the cruise planner that has your total OBC. We had multiple sources of OBC on our last Royal cruise but it showed up as one total. It may be still a little early for your redemption to show up. It was about two weeks out for us.

Might not be posted to your booking yet, they tend to post in order of sailing. You can confirm your OBC by calling the redemption people at 888-305-4626.

I had redeemed OBC from my RCL Visa card on March 17 for my cruise on April 22 (8 days to go - woo hoo!) I received the receipt and it shows my sail date, reservation number, etc. But when I go to RCL's website and go to my cruise planner, I don't see any pop-up showing my OBC. In fact, I cannot see my OBC anywhere on my reservation. I am guessing this is due to the "new" website that RCL rolled out. I have never had this problem with my past cruises, and I always get OBC from my Visa card. I will call the redemption number to make sure it is properly applied to my cruise and will print out the receipt, too. (As an aside: I'm so glad that we have awesome members in cruisecritic to give advice & guidance to each other!)

Just got off the phone with RC before reading this thread (should have known to come here first, lol) and they said Visa Signature reward redemption OBC is applied 2 weeks out. I redeemed 10 days ago and departure is approx. 60 days out.

The only reason I was concerned was because when I redeemed points last October for our Celebrity cruise in December the OBC showed up in our reservation within a couple of days and I was able to use it to pre-purchase an excursion.

Will keep an eye on it and report back here when I see the OBC has been posted.

If the redeemed $300.00 OBC shows up on my cruise planner prior to 4/29/18, can these credit card rewards be used on pre-cruise purchases or must the OBC be used only when on the ship?

I am able to use for pre cruise anything in the cruise planner. I chose not to so I can have when we sail. Also on the April 29 cruise.

Update: My rewards points posted to my cruise planner today - cruise is 21 days away. So I redeemed Feb 19th - and they posted 21 days before cruise. I booked online through RC - I also received a email from them with my guest invoice showing the OBC.

I only cashed mine in for OBC less than a week ago for Allure May 13 sailing and when I went into my cruse planner last night they were all there. Have no idea how quickly were placed in cruise panner. Now can use for planning deals.

It will potentially show up 2 weeks before sailing. Previously, it didn't show up at all until you were onboard.

I submitted an order before thanksgiving for our June 17 cruise, it hasn't shown up yet, but I will take my printed confirmation just in case it doesn't.

I can confirm mine showed up just last week for my cruise next week. Its better than it should, but still there is someone processing these by hand and they do cruises coming up soon before those months ahead.

Have a larger OBC than am used to after redeeming. We do not actually spend a lot onboard on cruises. We do not drink and I do not do sodas anymore and if did they do not have my choice. We will not do specialty dining since staying with our group of 14 which is half children though may encourage husband to try the upsell Chops Filet in the MDR (though not heard good reports recently). So we will eat with group. Thinking of paying daily gratuities with OBC. Thought about purchasing multiple device voom packages, one for each cabin so we can communicate. If I do that they will send an access code for each device and I can give one to each cabin? Correct? Or does need to be registered to each individual cabin? That way we can communicate especially on sea days. And when together and do not need some of the young ones can also get their tablet fix of shows when they get tired it is calming. Old cruisers but this cruise is about family and celebrating making it to 40th Anniversary (we often did not think we would due to my health). Celebrate life by cruising.

  • 2 weeks later...

I redeemed OBC for the first time a few weeks ago, and saw that the different codes (for $ redeemed) have different descriptions. It looks like you can use the $100 OBC only for specialty dining or the drink package. Is this true/new, or is it just a way for us to think we can not use it for gratuities?

I have attached screen shots with the different descriptions:

I've not seen any limitations on how to use the VIsa points OBC. I don't see how they can limit it as it is a fully refundable OBC and you can take it out in cash on the last day.

I think those are just examples of how you can use the OBC. Individual/shared/individual (different amount) . It is just a credit on your account. You can spend it on whatever you want.

After hearing so much about this topic, I was surprised and pleased when after redeeming points from both my and DH card and my card it showed up Online a Royal site in less than a week and I was able to use for purchases. Our cruise begins Sunday. It was only a month out when I redeemed points. When I redeemed I was able to print a confirmation of each OBC then an email from them arrived for each, and surprise, surprise also showed up on royal site..For once I got lucky and something worked as it should.
