Victoria?? Where does it say Victoria?

I read this in one of the links earlier in the thread. I assumed if they were going to Victoria they’d be finishing up in the dry dock there. That was an assumption about dry docking.

The sad note, heard there will be no Studios for solos

There will not be. You can see the new deck plans here: https://www.ncl.com/cruise-ship/joy/deck-plans

When the Joy was constructed, the area that was dedicated to studios on the Escape and Bliss was populated with inside 2-bedroom family suites called "Concierge Family Suites". The new plans show that these are being kept and not converted into studios.

I am booked for the Pearl August 2019, and have not recieved notification yet

Are you booked with a Travel agent or directly with Ncl? Sometimes Travel agents can be a little slow passing on the information like this. Regardless you can login to your my Ncl account and the new itinerary and ship should be in place of your Pearl sailing. The staterooms haven’t been reassigned yet but likely will in the next few days. The new stateroom will be in same or better. Same pricing, same dates, same reservation number, same perks. Just now shows Joy. My May, 2019 itinerary changed a little but depending on the sailing date, it sounds like the itineraries will differ a little.

Dry dock in China is what all the press releases say, 50 million..

Some finish work will be donewhile crossing to Seatlle,

Aall the intial itineraries do not show it sailing to or from Victoria for a starting point. This is from the Hong Kong crusie society,

It starts Alaska right after

Perhaps it went to your spam? I got an email from my pcc and also a general do not reply notice from Ncl. Basically it announced the ship change, said price is the same, same dates, same or better stateroom category and new room assignments would show up sometime this week. I checked a while ago and Mine shows everything the same with pricing and perks, just on the joy and no stateroom assignment.

After reading about the Bliss and joy a little more I’m kind of excited to finally get a push to try a mega ship. I’ve always stuck with what I know I like-the smaller ships.

Edit- go to your online checkin page on my Ncl. My stateroom assignment shows there.

Checked my spam nothing, my pcc had nothing, just checked myncl, perks are there, payment of deposit is there, no cabin assignment

Sent PCC another note tonight. Going to see if I can find a copy of the email letter people got

Norwegian Joy bookings have opened on the NCL UK site. No Transpacific. Just the 7 day roundtrip from Seattle starting from April 27th.

7-Day Alaska with Glacier Bay from Seattle

Day Cruise Ports Arrive Depart

Sat Seattle, Washington (EMBARK) --- 4:00 pm

Sun At Sea --- ---

Mon Juneau, Alaska 2:30 pm 11:00 pm

Tue Skagway, Alaska 7:00 am 8:15 pm

Wed Cruise Glacier Bay --- ---

Thu Ketchikan, Alaska 7:30 am 2:30 pm

Fri Victoria, British Columbia 9:00 pm 11:59 pm

Sat Seattle, Washington (DISEMBARK) 7:00 am

I like that it's doing Glacier Bay! Looking at minisuites, pricing is very similar to the Bliss, with Joy a little cheaper.

NCL finally clued in after the mess the NCL Sun cruise had and is sending the Joy to America empty it seems! Good for them for learning from their mistakes. They re-did the Sun's pool deck while I was sailing on her repositioning from San Diego to Valpraiso a few years ago. Some passengers who wanted to be by the pool seemed upset with it. I was fine with it since I don't sun by the commotion of the pool anyway!

The Joy itineraries are very different for the partial transit cruises compared to other offerings. It will be interesting to see if the pricing budges though. :)

I am pretty disappointed with the Joy pricing that was posted today. I guess I will wait and see if it changes at all. I can't see spending over $1700 per person for a balcony for a seven day cruise. Really wanted to do Mexican Riviera in February or March of 2020, but at those prices, I would be much better to just stay on the east coast. Getting to LA alone is going to be pricey for us, so exorbitant cruise fares on top of that will make it cost prohibitive for now. Oh well, I have plenty of other cruising options!

Don't let that stop you from doing a Mexico cruise. May I suggest jumping cruise line and checking out Carnival Panorama for Mexican Riviera March 2020. Balconies range from $789 to $819 for that month. It doesn't include a beverage package but when you factor in the cost of a drink package, it's still cheaper than NCL Joy. Are you only loyal to NCL?

I love the product NCL offers but I have to agree prices on NCL Joy too high.

I wouldn't say I am "only" loyal to NCL. I have only been on two cruises total and do have my next three booked on NCL, mostly thanks to CruiseNext deposits. I will certainly consider trying out other cruise lines if the prices and itineraries are right! Already looked into MSC a bit, but they don't do Mexican Riviera currently. Will definitely be checking out more options for spring 2020, since the current NCL sailings are all either uninteresting or more than I am willing to pay. I am already booked on three cruises through November 2019, so the next window I would be looking at is that February, March, or April of 2020.

Yep, those prices are quite crazy.

The retrofit to replicate the Bliss, did not include solo cabins. I sent an email off to a VP I met on the Bliss to express my dissapointment. My solo friends and I will stick to the Bliss, Epic, Escape, Breakaway and Getaway.

I was booked for Pearl that flipped to the Joy with my spouse, but the week I am going dropped Skagway, which was our main objective for the railway. They did upgrade my cabin without a charge. But no Skagway no trip.

Longshot but did you ask pcc if you could potentially switch to a Skagway sailing? My sailing dropped glacier bay and Skagway too. I talked to my husband about the switch and new itinerary and he’s not up for it either. I know it’s a great deal compared to list pricing but we are probably going to pass. We don’t have airfare or anything to worry about so might see if we can get a good last minute rate when the time comes. If you’re fine without perks, Bliss Alaska for this fall has come down quite a bit.

I did ask my Pcc and he said, no, and I know him well, they are instructing them to charge the higer price for the Skaway the week before.

I love the Bliss, and am sure I would love the new Joy

I will rework my 2019 cruises, it was the only one my spouse was going on

With the Joy moving to the west coast, any news about the entertainment? Specifically will it have Headliners with comedians and Dueling Pianos? Also what will be in the main showroom?

Nothing labeled as "Headliners" on the deck plans as of yet. The VIP Casino room is being converted to something labeled as "Entertainment Venue", which people are speculating might be a comedy club. No official word yet that I have read/heard.

Well, we have booked the first Alaska sailing out of Seattle - logged on to check the booking a number of times in the last few days but now I'm getting a message:

Dear Guest:

We look forward to welcoming you aboard Norwegian Joy, which is the first-ever contemporary cruise ship custom-built for China. Designed for Chinese guests, Norwegian Joy will provide a Mandarin-speaking crew, authentic Chinese cuisine and culturally-inspired onboard experiences offering guests a fully immersive Chinese cruise vacation.

As the numbers of non-China resident guests are minimal we will not require guests to complete their Online Check-In prior to sailing. Also, all Shore Excursions and onboard activities will be done once onboard the vessel through the interactive TV's, Interactive signage or in the restaurant or event location.

Bon Voyage!

Norwegian Cruise Line

And I've lost the ability to Explore and Plan - cannot browse dining and buy packages etc now! I hope it's a glitch and they haven't updated their systems to allow for the US West coast move yet.
