Enjoying the pictures, Ireland’s is such a wonderful place to visit, we have been twice North and south and loved the people and scenery.

Oh and the food!

KK get better soon!

And then we were off to Cong.

this is where the Quiet Man was filmed (John Wayne & Maureen O'Hara). Maureen O'Hara was from Ireland.

Of course, we had to take a pic of the stature of the two of them.

This flower is core. It has a slight coconut smell to it and has several uses including used for dye.

Today, I have arranged a tour with the Tourist Bureau. Their “over the edge tour”.

The ship doesn’t do this tour - so, if you want it, you need to book directly with the Tourist Bureau. The cost is 30 euros for the 3 - 3.5 hours and it is absolutely worth every penny IMO.

I had posted about it on the roll call and the interest kept growing until….

I had 2 minibuses holding 50 roll call members. Yikes! I was nervous about that many people but everyone was on time, and things went off without a hitch.

Moya, our guide was waiting for us. The people of Ireland are all friendly but Moya’s welcome, enthusiasm and humour was amazing. She is a volunteer with the tourist bureau and does her “job” because she loves it.

Killybegs is a small town and while it has become popular, the infrastructure has not grown a lot so, she said when the Queen Victoria was in a few days ago, it was like tsunami had hit the town.

She showed us a number of things and filled us with information. One of the highlights of this tour are the Cliffs - Sliabh Liag (pronounced Sleeve League). They are twice as high as the Cliffs of Moran.

Think you mean the Cliffs of Moher.

on a land tour of ireland, we stopped in Cong and acted out a scene from the Quiet Man with my husband, Neil, being John Wayne.

Then at lunch at a local hotel, we were told that Maureen OHara was in the lobby.

Of course a bunch of us stopped eating and went to see her, still glamorous with red hair, though in a wheel chair.

When I told her how beautiful she still was, she said to me "girlie, you need to get your eyes examined!" .Priceless memory.

They are different than the bluebells we have at homek

Not sure they are bluebells. They do have a bell shaped flower, and are blue, but it's the wrong season and bluebells grow in woods, These might be harebells, bur I am no great botanist.

It's teeming rain and T-storms here on and off.

Can't really complain about the weather though. It was supposed to pour yestersday and we had sun and hot weather in Brugges. Vlissingen is a short stop anyways as we will be in Antwerp tonight.

I came and saw. Heading back to the ship as I may do some packing :(. Don't want to miss the Scheldt River cruising.

Thank you. I had asked the spelling but must have misheard. Appreciated. :)

Yes I did, I was thinking of the Irish pronunciation. Thanks for the correction.

Happy Birthday kazu! May you have many, many more!

Re: food porn: HAL's chefs do a superior job with Liver and Onions. Add a couple of slices of bacon and make it even better.

Thanks to both of you and to bennybear too.
