What happened to the Bars on Sky Princess

What? The karaoke suites and tea bar were the only Asian market features I liked!

Yep - agree with you there! We loved them both, especially Perry at the tea bar. We dream of cruising on Majestic again and that was disappointing!

Strangely though, when I booked it said "Are you leaving before April 2019 or after"

That was because some cabin categories will be changed as of that date. Most likely involving Club Class mini-suites.

Your's is the first negative comment I have heard about Princess Live.....there is a bar RIGHT OUTSIDE the door of Princess Live.....there are no drink holders in the main theaters of Royal, Regal and Majestic....they are low revenue venues too because almost rarely see drinks ordered before a show..... I think you are just making up your facts and voicing an opinion!!

There are many, many complaints about princess live posted here.

Here are a few threads:

Now, what was that about making up facts?

There is a similar note for the Royal and Regal. Most probably all that is occurring is that some of the cabins are being recategorized on the Royal class ships.

I would never consider my husband and myself a problem drinker. At home we rarely 'bend our elbow' but on a cruise we enjoy a few cocktails, and our bar of choice is always Crooners. True, it is not always packed, we've noticed that is wasn't during the day, but just before each traditional dining time it would be, when that dining time came up it would empty out and then pick up again before the next traditional dining time, just to empty out once again when that dining time arrived. And in the evening it would always be full when it came to night time martinis and entertainment. I would truly miss it and frankly would give second thoughts to a ship that did not have a Crooners. It would have to be one fantastic, never done itinerary. I thought bars were money makers for the cruise line. Maybe with all the AIBP and such they don't make as much money on alcohol any more? I doubt that. Or with less bars you have to work harder to find a bar to use the drink package benefits? In my opinion, Princess Live is an uncomfortable venue, but if what you want to participate in is held there that is where you go.

Probably a valid point for some.

I admit that I don't appreciate some of the features being discussed on this version of the ship. With that being said, I recall many of the negative threads and posts about the Royal, then the Regal. I've not yet sailed on the Regal, ...

That's because all the Royal class ships suck

It’s kind of surprising, isn’t it?! Not only is Crooner’s gone but they really have done away with the bars. I enjoy live music and being at the nighttime venues. I don’t usually go to the outside bar at night so it’s sure doesn’t leave many choices. And in all my Regal sailings I have never really seen anyone go to the Bellini bar! Unless you are gambling or don’t mind smoke, who is hanging around the casino bar?!

Your missing the nicest, the club 6 is the jazz club where we hang out, godd music & drinks, the wheelhouse is in front of the crown grill. What`s missing is Crooners that is a shame & hope it returns.

I responded back in 2018 (!) but miscounted. Here is what I see today:

Sky Princess

Deck 5: Bellini's - Vines
Deck 6: Churchill's - Good Spirits - Casino - Take Five
Deck 7: Crown Grill - Princess Live! Cafe - Vista Lounge
Deck 16: Seaview Bar - Wake View Bar

Granted, 11 bars is quite a bit different from ships such as Emerald which has 15 bars but it should still be plenty of bars. 🤪

I would think that the bars are big money makers for them, why would they want to end that?

This is part of Princess's cunning plan. Get everyone to buy the Plus or Premiere package and then have no place for you to get a drink. Not only do they save money on drinks but they may actually get a few people into the expensive restaurants (where you may be able to get a drink).

Hold on, who is sitting in bars getting drinks.  Aren't we all wandering around with our phones and medallion and ordering drinks to come to us.  Sitting in a bar and "nursing a tonic and gin" is so 20th Century.

Since you started this nice list, you can also add Ocean Terrace Sushi Bar on deck 7.

They have beverages and have a few free appetizers you can get with a beverage 'purchase'. Pre-pandemic, the 'purchase' could be via the drink package, so hopefully that is still true.... We went there on the Sky in 2020 and just had (free) Edamame and Sake.

You don't have to order food.

Pre-pandemic menu:

Royal Princess
