Today we are in Cairns.  The day started grey and drizzly.  Veranda rail....

Lots of fog and mist.....

We needed more sunscreen and set off for the mall about 15 minutes walk from the ship.  Things started to really heat up as our walk progressed.  From along the way.....

On our way back to the ship we saw the Lagoon where people go to cool off.....

I was sorely tempted to wade in fully clothed.  By this point Myster and I were dredged in sweat.  Hot as blazes here!  We ran into a lovely couple from the ship and had lunch at Tha Fish.  Delicious!

Starting with a glass of Metropole, with a yogurt and fruit offering, followed by caviar served a number of ways.  It was delicious!

Of course this should have read ..."Starting with a glass of Monopole, with a yogurt and fruit offering,......."  Did someone mention alcohol soaked passengers?  🙂

Thanks for the info DCC!  Amazing number of days!

Today is another sea day en route to Darwin.  Weather is hot and humid and last night very rainy.

Beautiful pic Turtle!

Myster and I did a walk about in Darwin today.  We took the City Walk just outside the Darwin Cruise Terminal.....

We ended at the black dot on the next map.....

We hit Number 2, Christ Church Cathedral (the original was built in 1902 and devastated by Cyclone Tracy).  This one was built in 1975 incorporating part of the ruins of the original structure.....DSC05759.JPG.dfa4c906f524473801ac9e6e15687c5e.JPG

Next we found Number 1, The Tree of Knowledge/The Beagle Bells.  The Banyan tree is a species revered by Buddhists worldwide as the "Tree of Knowledge"......

Adjacent to the tree is the HMS Beagle Ship Bell Chime - a musical instrument linking the City of Darwin to Charles Darwin's voyage on the HMS Beagle from 1831-1836.....

Great pictures Mysty!  Looks like you had an interesting exploring day. We were lucky to have good weather as it can be hit and miss at this time of the year. It was hot of course but no rain to speak of.

We got a local bus out to the Museum and Art Gallery. It is small but very good with many fine Aboriginal works.  So now it is goodbye Australia!

Valentine's Day at sea on our way to Komodo Island tomorrow.  Jumbo red hearts are blooming everywhere!

Great dinner at the Grill last night with some lovely CC folk.  Much laughter and good cheer!

Beautiful sunrise this morning.....

Not sure about the exact number, but probably around 12-15 based on the names recognized.  In Bali 41 folks are disembarking and 56 are getting on.  Thus we will have about 310 on board.  The suites are full as ther are about 60 solo guest.

Thanks for the info

We are dodging a bullet by escaping winter at home.  Here is a picture our next door neighbour sent us this morning.  A view from her front door.....

Today is a sea day.  This morning we sailed through the Rote Strait.  View from the starboard side.....

Today we are anchored off Komodo Island.  Soon the first group of intrepid Dragon hunters will sent off on their quest.  Myster will brave the wilds on the 9:30 am departure and he will take the camera.  I desperately want both him and the camera back at the end of the excursion.  🙂

Some pictures from the starboard side at anchor.....

We took the shuttle bus to the drop off near Four Points by Sheraton and made our way to the Central Market.  The sky was looking very threatening.

We wandered through the Fish Market and then moved on to the Central Market.....

Then the skies opened and we ran for the shuttle bus.  Hopefully the weather clears as there is a planned Dinner Under the Stars on the pool deck tonight.

A very nice dinner on deck after sailing out of Sandakan. And the rain held off.  But can someone tell me why the officers at such events always all sit together on their own table?  Same happens at a table in La Terrazza at lunchtime every day. To me, it is a disappointment that officers are not more visible and do not mingle on Silversea in comparison with my experiences on Regent and Seabourn. It was still a nice night.
