Adult vs Ultimate Beverage package

I have one cruise booked with an "Adult Beverage Package" and another cruise booked with an "Ultimate Beverage Package". Anyone know if there is a difference between the two, if so what the difference is? I looked on NCL and could only find ultimate and soda packages.  I'm hoping the "adult" is not limited to alcohol. Thanks

No, the Adult & Teen Soda Package is totally different.  Adult Beverage Package definitely includes alcohol and is the same as the Ultimate Beverage Package.

Weird I only see the Ultimate Beverage Package, never heard of the adult beverage package, is there a difference? On that link it doesn't list the ABP

The Adult Beverage Package is what they give with Free at Sea.  The Ultimate Beverage Package is what they sell.  To confuse matters, sometimes the promo does show up as Ultimate Beverage Package, but regardless of what it says they are the same thing.

With the alcohol package you get Beer, Wine, mixed drinks and soda.  No specialty coffees or bottled water is included.

We just booked an NCL cruise today in UK and it says 2 x Adult Ultimate Beverage Packages on our confirmation - just to confuse things.

When you choose the Beverage Package as one of your Free at Sea perks, it shows up on your Vacation Summary and all your confirmations as "Adult Beverage Package", but when you purchase it separately, it is called the "Ultimate Beverage Package" and is advertised as such on the NCL web site and in My NCL.

We are from UK where the cruise is All Inclusive (booze, gratuities, internet etc.) It was not a Free at Sea perk as such. AI is the default now in UK (and EU I believe).

Is there some reason why the PCC or TA involved isn't answering this question or explaining the booking amenities? After all, this is what they are paid to do.

I assume it works the same way there then as well. Since the beverage package was included in your fare, it shows as "Adult Beverage Package" on all of your documents instead of the "Ultimate Beverage Package" which is the separately purchased package. In either case, they are exactly the same as far as what they entitle you to on board.

and to confuse matters.... the AI has a little different T&Cs for the UBP portion ...... There is a misconception that unlimited specialty coffees and bottled water are included but ..... specialty coffees are ONLY available in the dining room at mealtime.  You cannot order them from the coffee bar, regular bar, poolside, entertainment venue, room service, etc.  Also, the bottled water is 1 per person per day delivered to your stateroom by your steward.... it is not available at bars, at dinner, poolside, etc.  Specialty coffees, as defined by NCL, are lattes, espressos, cappuccinos, etc

I understand the T&Cs are saying that I could get a proper espresso with breakfast in the MDR. We may have to re-think our breakfast options.

 

Glad to see that Glenmorangie is currently under the $15 limit - I know that there is 18 months to go before I cruise NCL again so lots of things can change in that time.

What does this have to do with what I posted?

 

You can get standard regular coffee all over the ship (bars, buffet, casino, dining room, room service) and an Irish, Spanish, etc coffees are covered by all the UBP as they are not classified as "specialty coffee".

Yup.... if you have the UK AI then you may get an espresso (Specialty Coffee) in the dining room at mealtime

Actually, the ship's water is quite good. I don't understand why anyone pays for the bottled water when all of the tap water on board goes through their desalination plant and revers osmosis filters.

 

As for the confusion over the many names for the drink packages and what is included in them, I actually think that is why they started calling it "Open Bar", because "Beverage" definitely implied other sorts of beverages. However, they have not been applying that terminology universally or consistently yet. Thus the confusion.
