OK Sveri, here’s what I like to do.  Go to the bar in the Top Sail Lounge and ask the bartender for a pitcher...filled halfway with ice.  Then pour in a small glass of sour mix and a small glass of cognac or brandy about 4 ounces of each.  Top with Champagne and squeeze a lemon wedge and toss it in...start pouring.  LOL!

That sounds good but I don't like to mix Champagne with anything and ruin the best thing this universe has to offer! Champagne shall not be mixed with anything but I guess it can be made with Prosecco instead.

That sounds somewhat refreshing.  But personally, I think that ruins decent Champagne as well as Cognac :).

I’m new to Divina but I think there’s an ice cream parlor on it where passengers can buy ice cream and cakes. Do Yacht Club guests get free ice cream and cakes there? I don’t drink alcohol and am looking for any YC perks that I’ll enjoy and ice cream and cakes fit that bill! (When I was on Seaside Yacht Club in 11/18, I could go to the Venchi chocolate shop and order a free espresso which came with two pralines. I don’t drink coffee, but I certainly enjoyed choosing my two free chocolates!)

Thanks Bea,  now that I look at it...you might want to cut it back to 3 ounces each.

It’s called a French 75.  The drink was popular with the soldiers in WW I.  They wanted to get a jolt out of a bottle of Champagne and this provided them with the ammunition...so to speak.  The drink was named after the popular French artillery gun...the 75.  I love Champagne but I also love a French 75 as an aperitif.  You need to get the combination of the Cognac and lemon sour just right.  The taste is superb.

Well ... that you've put a name to it, I've definitely had one before!   Going to have it made with Moēt and Martell XO (lol) with the Prem+ package - may be our one and only time to do this the way things are going (if talks of a global recession come to pass - carpe diem! 😜)

I can never get a decent French 75 anywhere...you have to make it yourself!

 

Spot on Bea!  Go for it!  And don't worry about a recession.  “When the going gets tough the tough go cruising”...LOL!

I will defenitely try it too but I just can't use Champagne for it even if I'm sure it will be delicious!

Hi there, based on your signature looks like you just sailed Allure? We did that cruise in June. Did you write up feedback anywhere? I'd like to read it. 

 

To the OP, our experience MSC YC on Divina:

1) Tent set up at 11. They took us to a waiting room that had some refreshments until the ship was ready to board.

2) One of our best meals was embarkation lunch in Le Muse. No need to ask for an escort. The ship isn't that big and it's very simple.

3) Moving target it seems.

4) We don't book ship excursions, especially in the Caribbean. There really is little need since that region gas a long history with cruise stops and the independent operators often provide much better tours at lesser prices. Let us know if you are interested in a do-it-yourself activity.

5) There wasn't when we sailed.

6) I'm one who would never use this 'service'. We watched others flounder with it. I don't get the whole concept, but I can be dense.

Yes, it was Allure.  Although it was last October.  I do need to re-do my signature, since I can't add to the bottom like I used to, I've got to spend some time on it (or just delete it).

 

Didn't write a review on Allure.  We hadn't been on Royal for a few years.  We were on Oasis when it first came out.  Even though we hadn't been on many Royal cruises, we were Diamond via Celebrity's Elite.  When we went on her, Allure wasn't "broken" yet.

 

I found Allure to be crowded (even or especially the Diamond lounge).  

Food was pretty good.

Liked Oasis better.

Royal does have good suite benefits in Oasis-class, so we're looking for  a good suite price.  Would like to see the "new and improved" Oasis.

Thanks so much :). I wanted to love Allure (Oasis class in general) but just didn't. Had a great time and the entertainment was spectacular. I'm sure I will sail on Oasis class again because the ship design offers SOOOOO much: but Radiance class is still my absolute favorite. 

 

To the OP: Sorry for being off topic. Still offering to help you out with choosing excursions that aren't sponsored by the ship if that interests you at all.
