What does Carnival's free WiFi do

I read on a document that the Carnival Pride has free WiFi. It then goes on to say that you can purchase WiFi packages. Does anyone know what you can do with the free WiFi that they offer?

The FREE option is text to others on the ship that have the HUB App loaded on their device...your cabin mates or others that you join with.  The HUB App also gives you info in the entertainment schedule for the day, Dining Room menue and such.  Nothing more than that.

The messaging feature is not free, it's $5 per device.

The entertainment schedule is a great feature of the app. Can set yourself reminders too. I have definitely lost track of time before and missed events.

It allows you connect with carnival.com and John Healds blog (not facebook) free of charge.

Connecting to the wi-fi is free.

 

That includes the HUB app info for dinner menus and activities etc (electronic Fun Times), and carnival.com I guess, as mentioned.

 

Getting anywhere beyond that will cost you some money.  $5 per person (for entire cruise duration) for the messaging app, and internet packages are varied and priced per day.

The Hub App is not really wi-fi. It is an internal messaging platform with content pertaining to your ship. It's great. If you want to contact anyone off the ship or without the Hub, you will need to buy a wi-fi package

Sorry, but it really is WiFi. It is just restricted unless you pay for additional features.

There is no charge to connect to Carnival's wifi.  Without paying for a wifi package, you will have access to the HUB app (not the messaging feature) and Carnival.com.  If you would like access to anything else, you will need to purchase a wifi package.  If you simply want to use the chat feature in the HUB app, that is an add on to the app at $5 for the entire cruise.

The only additional thing to purchase is the chat feature. You can not access the internet with the Hub App, except CCL which is built into the App. So, technically if you have wifi you can access the internet.
