Jusr an FYI, Carnvial no longer calls it tendering, they now use the term water shuttles.

The term water shuttle/ taxi is considered shore to shore. Tender meaning ship to shore. Carnival has been known to get things wrong in the past too.

You may have to sit on the tender boat and wait for it to fill up, if you are going back early.  We had that happen in Belize last trip.  We sat there on the boat for 30+ minutes before it was full enough, so lesson learned.

Actually the term derives from when a farmer in Belize brought his boat to a ship and carried passengers to shore. Since his rooster was always on the boat it became the first of the chicken tenders.

I have a question about when you tender. Can you go ashore, come back to the ship for lunch and then go back to the beach for the afternoon?

Thanks

Yes! You can go back and forth as much as you’d like within the scheduled port time

That is why you grab a Belize beer and wait for it to fill a bit.

Which port are we talking about? The private islands provide included lunch right on shore so no need to go back unless you want to. But places like Belize and Grand Cayman do not have lunch.

There is nothing you can do about the wait, so not sure what lesson you learned. You could have been the last person to board and only wait 2 minutes. There are no specific tender times or schedule

Agreed. The only thing you can do is note how full it is and sit in the shade if you desire while waiting. It is bad when you wait on top in the sun for 30 minutes and need or forget to reapply sunscreen while you're there. So many lobsters on every cruise...and I am not referring to the ocean critters!
