I remember visiting a friend who was sailing on her from New York on an Eclipse Cruise (don't recall the Summer date).  Immediately upon boarding the ship, one could smell the olive oil aroma that the Galley used.  Visiting his shared 4 berth "stateroom" in the forward part of the ship with the smallest bathroom I have ever seen on a ship, I wished him "Bon Voyage".  (Our first cruise was aboard Rotterdam V in an outside, double berth cabin with one of the MDR's on the other side of the corridor walls.  Not the "lap of luxury", but a good deal better than his cabin on the Olympia.)  Returning, he said he enjoyed the cruise, but his main purpose was to experience the Eclipse at sea and photograph it.)

Nice. Thanks for sharing.

Ah. I thought he was too young to retire. Happy vacation to him. He has earned it.

I agree.  Yet, he must be a very senior HAL Captain.  He was Master of Rotterdam V when I first sailed with him in 1996, I think.
