pete14 Posted April 12, 2019 #4 Share Posted April 12, 2019 Looking at all the responsibilities that are listed, it is not surprising that some of them are rarely seen around the ship mixing with passengers. More back office than front of house.
Rare Eglesbrech Posted April 12, 2019 #5 Share Posted April 12, 2019 I’m surprised they are advertising and not just workforce planning to bring on more junior staff.
terrierjohn Posted April 12, 2019 #6 Share Posted April 12, 2019 I wonder if Docco agrees with P&O that they occupy a position at the top?

"It takes great passion and real dedication to maintain our position at the top." Maybe.......but it depends what they claim to be at the top of. Seriously, though, these guys do a great job in difficult circumstances - wonder what the salary is, and how it compares with what they used to offer Cruise Directors? Rare Selbourne Posted April 12, 2019 #9 Share Posted April 12, 2019 Some key responsibilities were missed off that job description; - Must assume that none of the passengers are capable of reading their copy of Horizon and make a prolonged broadcast to the entire ship at around 0945 listing all the ‘entertainment’ for the day. - Ability to disregard all onboard guidance about controlling the spread of Norovirus by encouraging passengers prior to the first nights ‘welcome on board’ show to “shake hands with the stranger next to you” - Help keep food expenditure down by scheduling guest speakers at times when passengers would wish to have lunch - Ensure that the overriding theme of the onboard entertainment maintains P&O’s desire to celebrate the 1950’s (a box set of Hi Di Hi is provided for research) - Help prepare our guests for their future lives in care homes, by asking questions such as “Are you all having a good time?” and “Anyone here from (insert place name)?” - Must have a flamboyant walking style to ensure a dramatic stage entrance and exit. The ability to make exaggerated arm gestures when introducing guest acts is also desirable. Sorry. Couldn’t resist it 😉 2
