Suite rates

Hi,

We cruised for the first time last August in a Grand Suite on the Oasis.  It was amazing. I didn’t know it at the time but we must have gotten an amazing rate.  When I look for next summer now, the rates are almost double on the Grand Suite for the summer on all 7 day sailings of similar ships.  I wondered if others on here had found that RC tends to decrease rates as we get closer?   Thanks for any feedback!

We booked an Owners Suite about a year in advance. The only suite that is available now is a Junior suite and it is double the price that we paid.

I was just looking at suite rates for next summer on Symphony and Harmony and the rates seem to be much higher than the 2019 rates.

We booked our Grand Suite for the November 2020 Allure WB TA the day it opened for booking in December 2018.  Suites were sold out pretty quick.  I would expect that should one become available it would be quite high simply due to the popularity of the cruise.  That is probably the same for other cruises as well.  The more popular a cruise is the less likely you will see a price drop.  Plus, if you are looking to book a cruise now for next year most of those 2020 cruises have already been selling since 2018 (many open 2 years in advance), so you will pay more than someone who booked their cruise when those sailings first opened last year.

We booked a Crown Loft on Harmony for Sep.22 sailing.  We booked on April 1.  Amazing rates!  Maybe it was some sort of "April Fools" joke, but the rates were so good that all CL's were sold out in a day or so.  So no, waiting until closer to the cruise is not really an answer.   Book at a rate you like then if the rates go down you can change (up to final payment date).   

I watch the rates constantly.   You just have to be ready to pull the trigger when the rates hit something you consider good.

We are currently in a GS on the Harmony that we booked in June for around $2500 total for 2. There were 5 Saturdays in a row back then that had great suite prices for several sailings in August

We have seven suites booked between this October and March 2021, and  on every one of them the price has gone up substantially ($1,000-$2,000+) from what we paid when we booked. We haven't seen a true price drop (Lower than the opening day price) on any of our booked cruises in the last 2-3 years. If one were to start looking now for a spring/summer 2020 cruise, there may appear to be a "price drop" at some point, but it is almost always a drop from a price that has steadily increased from when the itinerary was first released.

We booked a Crown Loft on that same sailing.  I must have found the same deal as you -- almost too good to be true!  However, deals like that are few and far between.  See you on board @papaflamingo

Rates are like a roller coaster , we booked oasis grand suite for 2500 for last November rates kept going down so I eventually got owners suite for original cost of grand suite

I think part of the reason is that there are only 2 Oasis class ships in Florida next summer as opposed to three this year. 

 

While deals can be found,  I think it’s too early for summer 2020 deals. Of course, it helps if you reside in Florida and can jump at an August sale for a September sailing, but the air fare close to a sail date can erase any cruise savings. Generally, suite prices are up. If you are sure you are going, book as soon as the itineraries come out and watch for a price drop.

Good point. I do live in South Florida and I usually book through casino offers. Since I am only Prime (low level), my offers are only for a free interior for two. I always ask the cost to upgrade to at least a Junior Suite. But prices for JS and above for casino guests  at my level, have gone up significantly over the past two years!

We always book our suites as soon as the schedule comes out as that seems to be the cheapest rates.  Looking at our Alaska trip in Sept. 2020 the Grand Loft on Ovation is over $2000 more than we paid.  The only upgrade we have ever done is for the Anthem in Feb. 2021 where we went from a Grand Loft to the Owners Loft, which was the same price we paid.  This just happened a month ago.  I think people like the suites and they sell our quickly or there is only a couple left and the prices go up.
