We will be going on this cruise for the first time ever.  Any suggestions would be wonderful.  Not sure on what to pack or what to expect.

Knowing your cruise line might be helpful.

You will be mingling with lots of fellow passengers that you will never see again.  Dress for your comfort and not to impress others.  You cannot eat everything that is available but you can definitely sample everything.

Have a look at the HAL forum for any questions about the ship:  https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/103-holland-america-line/

For information about activities in your ports, look at them individually in the Caribbean Ports of Call forum:  https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/456-caribbean/

To see what your fellow cruisers are planning, look at the Roll Call for your specific ship and dates:

To add to my previous post... we will be on the zuiderdam January 3-11. Stopping at Half Moon Cay Bahamas, Falmouth Jamaica, Geogetown Cayman Islands, Cozumel Mexico, and Costa Maya Mexico

If you like the beach your in heaven. Great beaches at of course Half Moon Cay, Cayman Islands, 7 mile Beach, beach resorts at both  Cozumel, and Costa Maya. Sorry about a Jamaica, have not been there. HMC  you could encounter a cool day due to the island being in the Atlantic not the Caribbean.

Jamaica , although not the better beaches on your itinerary , offers river floating on bamboo rafts and tubes and climbing the falls , that are not available on the other stops .

A beautiful mountainous island with the one negative , pushy locals . Stay with the cruise line tours here.

Welcome to Cruise Critic LaLaX8.  As was stated above, be sure to visit the individual ports-of-call threads under Caribbean.  For my money, and after 30+ trips mostly in the Caribbean, for Cozumel it’s Paradise Beach.  In Grand Cayman we love either Royal Palms or Cemetery Beach but someone above recommended Captain Marvin’s trip to Stingray City and I will add that we also did that some years back and it should be a bucket list item for everyone visiting GC.  In Costa Maya we take a cab to Blue Key and enjoy a beach day and their ceviche.  We love stopping in Jamaica since 90% of the passengers go ashore and we get to enjoy a day on the ship mostly to ourselves.  It’s just not our gig although 20 years ago we went zip lining with a ship tour and had a blast.  Otherwise,  since we don’t want to buy drugs or get our hair braided there’s not much attraction for us.  Never been to Half Moon Cay.

You will find lots of information here at CC and a wide variety of likes and dislikes so read up and see what attracts you.  Enjoy!
