Since when did NCL board by status instead of arrival to port

In Tampa waiting to board Dawn. We were first in line, first through check in.  No boarding numbers. They are boarding by status.

 Latitudes has always boarded first since we have been cruising (almost 10 years) , but lately it's been more Gold/Platinum first, then by boarding number.

It’s always been suites and VIP,  people who purchased the new upgrade embarking/tendering, then latitude members who qualify for priority embarking, then general.

 So mass chaos? Or did they just not give you one? Before I had status, they did it two different ways, someone would hand you a boarding number before you checked in, or you would get one when you checked in.

Maybe because they don't regularly port out of Tampa and it's only small ships that can go there?

If your platinum or higher, you don't need numbers. They just call your status group which has priority boarding.

Has been that way since we first boarded NCL; no boarding numbers would be a shambles.

We're not Latitude members, but on docs were given a time to check in of 12-12:30. Can I plan on that?

You can't truly "count on" a posted time.  It is a suggested time to arrive at the port!

However, it may, or may not, be close to your actual BOARDING time.

On this cruise in a few weeks.  Was planning to arrive at the port fairly early in hopes of getting on the ship.  When did you arrive and when did you get to board?

The time to arrive at the port is not enforced. 
 

We normally show up around 10:15 to beat the lines at security and checkin. Priority boarding starts before 11:00. General boarding before 11;30. 
 

If you show up at 12;39, it is likely to be busy in the terminal.
