It was cod that time. Normally I don't like cod much as it can be watery but that lot was beautiful.

They have some wonderful salmon dishes on Coral. It's always available but they vary the sauces and accompaniments.

Thought it was  cod meaty white flesh, no bones if filleted right.jubbly.

Please all send your thoughts to Rosie for me, she has had a rough day today as it is our wedding anniversary. 34 years of suffering my jokes is quite a lot for her to bear. 😉

Happy anniversary Rosie! I'd wish you the same as you've had the lovely Rosie in your life for 34 years so every day would have been a celebration! But happy anniversary anyway.😉

We just got an email from friends who are currently cruising on P&O UK Aurora in eastern Canada. They had to do a big diversion due to Fiona. They missed St John and Gaspe, got into Quebec and are currently at Saguenay. Their next call to Charlottetown has been replaced by Corner Brook, and they are waiting to hear if it will be possible to visit Sydney or Halifax.

We would love to cruise Eastern Canada one day, hopefully when there is no hurricane.

It is rare to have hurricanes so far north often.  We diverted to Boston because of a cyclone at Bermuda.

Corner Brook and Saguenay are both protected.  Sydney and Halifax aren't if hurricane is still in the vicinity. You will love Eastern Canada which has so much to offer. You can include Greenland and Labrador as well as Newfoundland.

Sounds like same cruise we did in 2016 from Southampton on Aurora.

So it was halibut and chips tonight. We dined in, it's so much better than take away.20220930_153237.thumb.jpg.0084a753101dd421265dd1abf7895cd2.jpg

What’s your address, Lyle?  The batter looks superb, and I love coleslaw with any good batter😋

Sorry to hear.  Hope you have a mild dose and are soon feeling better.  Were there many cases on board?

Thanks for your concern. I really only had one afternoon that I would call uncomfortable, but with excellent care from the medical staff, and the magic lollies (antivirals) I bounced back quickly.  We really only had to isolate the last two days, so no inconvenience at all, really.  A lingering cough the only symptom now, but I suspect this is at least Day 6-7, so probably only just made the optimum antiviral window.  Hoping  Mario remains negative, but he’s clear so far I think.  We counted about another 10 disembarking with white escorts 😂.  One couple had been in isolation for eight days, because one followed the other in returning positive PCRs.  What about on Princess?

It doesn't get nearly as cold here on Vancouver island and we will definitely have rain. We can have wind and rain storms as well, but nothing like what just went through the Maritimes. Lynn's brother lives in Louisburg and his house received a fair bit of damage.

Sorry to hear that, Lyle.  That storm has been big news here in the UK

The batter is excellent crisp and thin. Saltys is a chain of franchise stores but this particular one is different.

The address is lyledotduck at shawdotca. A few others have it as well

I figured it was a joint response  so Julie would respond.  She is enjoying the tropical heat, whilst I'm freezing in Sydney.  As long as it is not cold and wet I'm OK.  Enjoy beautiful Cornwall.  Is the word out locally that the Coronation will be 2/6 long weekend yet?  Researching cruises that fit!

I’ll ask tomorrow morning at breakfast.  We loved our Baltic cruise, Marion, and it was our second. The history is fascinating, and the communities so diverse.  Have you found any possibilities?

I was really only joking, meaning we’ll be over to try your excellent batter😂. I didn’t mean to ask for your details, so sorry.

No worries, it's there if you want to use it.

The fish & chip shop is at 738 Goldstream Avenue, Langford BC. If you get that close you better let me know 😁

I knew what you meant!  Thought Lyle may have given you a dummy email.  When I first went to the UK as a travelling young person, people would ask me did I know their "our Joan" .  It was a different world then.  No-one came back and no-one who stayed travelled.  I had an English great uncle who married my grandmother's sister and got a property through Soldier's Settlement.  His brother settled in Canada and all his sisters stayed in mid England and Wales.  I took my elderly second cousin home to England to meet all his sisters. I did the same with a neighbour who met all her Polish great aunts an uncles for the first time.  WWI made a huge difference to breaking up families forever,

There is a beautiful sad ballad about a son going away, getting letters about him intending to come to visit, and the last letter the parent had died.  Is that enough for someone with a better memory to identify it?  I have a huge collection of sad Scottish/Irish/Canadian/NZ songs.
