Repatriation Plans Announced for Crew Members to get home

Recommended Posts

BBC online news reported today that three cruise ships are due at King George V docks in Shieldhall next month. It goes on to state that all three will have around 40 crew, have been deep cleaned and are Covid free and also have been on the high seas for at least two weeks prior to arriving on the Clyde.

The article also stated that requests had been made to lay up ships at Greenock but the local council oppose the idea.

AIS on Freedom changed to Barbados with no current arrival date given.

Given its current speed and typical transit times, I'd say arrival should be by Saturday. I assume the staff due to fly from Explorer must be almost done - she's in Bridgetown again today. Looks like X Reflection is also on the way to Barbados - BGI will be a busy place over the next couple of weeks.

Only one Wamos 747 arriving today at BGI Barbados. I think they said every 3 days for flights. I never noticed the 2 flights lift from MIAmi back to Madrid, so they may still be on ground.

They had one Wamos flight heading for Bagram Air Base last night, but that must have been for US military.

Enchantment is a day ahead of Freedom on way to Barbados.

Liberty was in Miami last night and Symphony today.

British Airways operating an Airbus 380 from LHR to Manila today. Hopefully they are starting to get crew out from the Philippines as well.

Interesting that Carnival Breeze is being allowed to come into Civitavecchia following their stop at Cadiz. MSC Fantasia is heading for Genoa now as well. Italy had a no cruise ship order in place and must have lifted or made exceptions.

Lots of flight activity today. Enchantment has reached Barbados.

Philippine Airlines A350 now heading from BGI Bridgetown to LAX before heading on to Manila.

Wamos flight from Madrid heading to BGI.

iAero Airways a 'First Class' luxury charter company out of Miami has been flying several aircraft back and forth between Miami and Barbados and would seem to be related to repatriation activity.

I would of thought the cruise lines would of worked together and combining crew from all the ships by country and work on getting them home , especially the ones that are sailing them home . Maybe there’s a reason they couldn’t or maybe they did.

A bit of port changing. Msc Fantasia was going to Algeciras and changed to Genoa.

C Breeze was Rome now going to Dubrovnik.

In Scotland, we start coming out of lockdown on May 28th.

Highest number of Covid is in Inverclyde. That's where Azamara Pursuit is heading. The local council don't want any ships, so that might change

Carnival Magic went to Dubrovnik following her technical stop at Gibraltar.

Maybe they are doing a crew transfer at Dubrovnik as Breeze took on all the crew from Carnival Victory at Cadiz.

MSC Divina also sailed a couple days ago first showing Gibraltar and now shows Algeciras.

Royal Caribbean is preparing a major plan for the repatriation of thousands of its crew members back to their home countries. In a letter sent to the crew signed by Michael Bayley - President and CEO of Royal Caribbean International, the company announced the repatriation of the crew from 60 different countries using cruise ships and charter flights.

Plan for Crew Members to get home

Only took a hunger strike for him to act.

British Airways does their A380 maintenance in Manila. Highly unlikely that it was a charter for crew.

The Wamos 747 that just repatriated crew to Manila is now departing from Manila for an interesting destination, Belgrade, Serbia.

Wamos has been working heavily for governments as well including the UK and Germany to repatriate their citizens. They were even used for the original evacuation from Wuhan in January.

I was hoping they were taking crew out from the Philippines on the return flights, but it does not seam to be happening.
