Odyssey Cabin codes?

Recommended Posts

@ourusualbeach will know, but from my experience it's a matter of location more so than the balconies are different. Since you are asking about 1, 3 and 5s, I assume there are at least 3 people.

Solo I'm looking at the even numbers for 2 people, 2d, 4d and 6d.

On liberty, there was a 6d I passed up, deck 9 for a 2d on the hump. I also have a 4d on deck 9 aft, deck 7 has bigger balconies but you need 3 pax or 4.

The hump is a 2D, the aft facing a 4D. As far as I know same inside, though I think the aft has a longer looking balcony. I think its location. But ourusualbeach will know.

Yes, I am looking for 3 person cabins.

The plot thickens...if I go through the booking process online, Odyssey Cabin #10644 (and other 1Ds) have an asterisk for a pullman bed, but if you just go straight to Odyssey deck plans, it has a triangle for sofa bed. Both on RCI website.

Looking for basic Oceanview Balcony for 3 people.

Is the difference between 5D & 1D is that 5D has sofa bed & 1D has Pullman?

They both have sofabeds.  There are no Pullman’s on Odyssey.

the difference in the number Is location and occupancy .  5D are forward and aft with a few midship and sleep 3.  3D are forward and aft and sleep 4 while 1 D is midship and sleeps up to 4.

Roysl has not updated its consumer website.  The * is no longer a Pullman designation. And the triangle is no longer a sofabed.

they only designate occupancy not type of bed effective for sailings after May 2021.

I was going to add that I'd bet the 1D was midship. I've noticed that rcl categories are more expensive usually as you move midship. (As opposed to carnival whose categories go up by the deck they are on).

Basically same cabins, it's about location for both lines, they seem to look at it different. Since I dont mind forward or aft, rcl works out good for me. I can have a cheaper cabin on a high deck.

Thank you both for your help.

Ourusualbeach-can I assume that these new codes are info that travel agents have access to before they get updated on the website?

I booked cabin #10644.

On a side note, the agent told me that on Quantum Class ships (which I have not sailed on before), the doors that lead from the cabin hallways to the open areas to the stairwells & elevators are always closed, instead of only being closed on embarkation day until 1pm when cabins are ready. Is that correct?

Also not familiar with the Quantum series ships, have never sailed on one, but have booked Odyssey for early 2022.  I have no idea about good/bad cabin locations.  So, tossing a dart, I booked JS #12634 on the hump for our B2B.

Ourusualbeach, any idea if this was a good land for my dart?

Royal's website specifically for TA's has been updated since they announced these changes over a year ago..beyond me why they have not updated the consumer site.  The screen shot is from the site TA's use to book.

I can't answer about the fire doors but I do know that I would not trust anything that far from the norm that a Royal rep told me.

Any on the hump would be good IMO, It's just whether you want to be closer to the pool deck (go with deck 12) or if you want to be closer to the promenade (deck 6, 7)

12 is good for access to the CL lounge

Thanks for the info!  I always like to leave one deck of cabins as a buffer to separate us from the pool deck.  Seems to work well on Oasis class as well, I never book deck 14.  Funny there is a deck 13 on Quantum class (and some others) but not on Oasis class.  🤔

Like being near the CL...great for my early morning zombie walk to fetch some coffee for myself and the sleepy head.  🙂

I've sailed Quantum, Anthem, and Ovation and don't remember the doors being closed.

Odyssey’s CL is on Deck 13

Odyssey does not have a promenade. It has a Royal Esplanade.

What is the difference between the Royal Promenade & the Royal Esplanade?

Size

Openness

Utility

That's the Reader's Digest Condensed version.

The Promenade has promenade view cabins.  The Esplanade has no cabins.  The Promenade is one large open floor space.  The Esplanade is Deck 4 and some of Deck 5.  The Promenade is a large open rectangular space.  The Esplanade is broken up by angle and venues.  The Promenade can get crowded.  The Esplanade can get VERY crowded, very easily.

For both, the casino is below, and the ventilation is much better on Quantum class ships and the smoke does not travel up.
