Anxiously awaiting the next update! I measured 24" on my deck here in Danbury, CT, and also can't wait to see how many made it onboard.

 

Shoreguy, I hope you get your camera back. As I was reading your tale, it struck me once again how you seem to handle all these things like a true gentleman! Hope you enjoy every second of your cruise.

Hoping your camera shows up soon. It would be a loss to you and all of us who enjoy your photos it you didn't get it back soon. Meanwhile I am sure other CC's onboard will share their photos with you.

You mentioned Alex is a big help. He certainly is. He was our concierge on our 11/27 cruise on the SPIRIT. He couldn't be more helpful. If you get the opportunity tell him Joe and Leona Oriolo said hello.

Don't know if the DAWN has left NYC yet, but have a wonderful cruise'

I can see the ship from my window... and people in our cafeteria on the 38th floor said that they saw a lot of tenders going back and forth from the ship ... (I can only assume that that means they were boarding late arrivals????)

 

In addition to passengers, they're probably getting deliveries for items that never made it onboard yesterday. I'm sure some of the vendors had a hard time getting around through the snow as well.

Sounds like you got quite the snowfall. We only got a little better than a foot. I miss Danbury, we lived there for almost 14 years over in the old Danbury Mill. It sure would have been great cruising from NY when we lived there. It's so convenient.

I hope all of the cruisers made it to the Dawn.

This is post number 300 for me! Yippie! Figured I'd make it a memorable one and write to Shoreguy.

 

Have a great time! Enjoy the adventure. Gee, Shoreguy, maybe you'll return to the cc board with your review and say "never again"! LOL Just have a fun time no matter what happens. Remember... you're on a cruiseship and I'm stuck on dry land in 80+ degree weather. :cool:

 

Let's see now, how many more posts do I need to catch up to Shoreguy!

goodmorning. I guess I half won my bet, she left the dock but not the harbor. I have to go to work for 1/2 a day today so can"t watch for much longer. I hope they leave soon so they get get on to warmer weather. Keep up the work guys, I'll check in after work.

Angeljt, not to hijack this thread, but what a small world! My husband is from New Bedford, where his mother and sister live, and his deceased brother was a fisherman there.

It sure is a small world. Sure do miss Danbury and all our friends there. Do you ever go to Two Steps or Ciao Cafe?

I know they were also talking about making New Bedford a cruise port. I wonder if that will ever happen. Anyone else hear anything about that?

Monday first half day at sea

I thought I would post an update while still sober – 12:15 and pulling up anchor – new itinerary – all the same ports except GSC only a day late. Full day in Jamaica. Shore excursion will be interesting.

Most onboard are having a great time. Free rum punch in the casino 11 – 12 currently free drinks at Spinnaker until 1 .

Muster drill at 10 am so are Meet and greet went on as planned at 10:30. All those we were worried about made it to the ship. I have heard as many as 800 passengers never made it. We had at least 50 show up for the meet and greet – Alex and Toni F&B Director showed as well. Hugo as you might guess was tied up with those that think NCL is responsible for the weather.

By all reports we a lucky they let the Dawn dock at all. We could be still sitting at the pier while the last cruise was still disembarking.

The bad news- camera still mia –the good news I may for the first time get something for from my travel insurance.

We are underway – got to make the last half hour of free drinks and off to the martini clinic at 2 pm

Shoreguy.....have a wonderful cruise...I will miss not cruising with you all this year as I am cruising in March. My husband and I loved the freestyle cruising and the Dawn is a beautiful ship. We look forward to cruising on her in the future.

Such fun reading your blog. You really know how to make the most unpleasant of situations pleasurable. You'll soon end up with a camera one way or another and present us with wonderful pictures. We all love to read about your vacations. I'm so glad to hear that NCL once again is doing everything they can to make passengers happy. I'm sure there are a lot of gripes but heck, they made it onto the ship. That should be enough to shut them up. If I were there I'd also be heading to the martini clinic.

 

It's a beautiful clear sunny day outside. It will only get better as you head south. Soak it up! (Sun and good drink).
