Interesting article with an interview with MGM’s President for Midwest Properties David Tsai.

Key takes are that MGM wants to greatly reduce elites in their program; to be able to better benefits.  MGM non-gambling elite points have been reduced by nearly 85%.  Tsai believes, that focus should be on actual gamblers, not other spenders.  This is a massive change, as MGM was wanting non-gamblers, such as shoppers, clubbers, resort spenders, etc.  This is a dramatic change of course, which is good news for players.

All other program Status Matches to MGM Rewards, such as Hyatt, require Annual Requalification.  We are lucky, that Crown & Anchor Status is for Life!!

I just received my first ever offer from MLife for a complimentary 4 night stay at MGM Vegas.  It is still showing me as Platinum.  We aren’t interested in flying to Vegas so we won’t be using the offer but I was shocked to get it and surprised to see they’re still showing me with Platinum status.  Things must be very slow in Vegas !

That will change starting February 1st. Normally tier status would have been updated January 1st but they gave an additional one month to earn tier status.

Can you status match RCI status to Mlife status more than once? I status matched last year but expired 2/1 of this year

Yep, you must rematch every year.  I usually don't bother unless I am travelling to Vegas for some reason, but then I just email them my C&A status and they update my MGM status before I get there.  Pick up a new card at the cage and done.  In 2021 I made several trips to Vegas so I earned Gold on my own but this is the first year that has happened...and probably the last now that cruising is back.

Thanks - I sent them an email so I will report back. I thought so, but maybe the terms have changed with these new perks.

I'm sorry but I just don't understand.  I'm currently Platinum when we go to Vegas.  I am diamond plus with Royal Caribbean.

Are my benefits increasing or decreasing?

It depends on whether you are Platinum through match or through actual play/spend in Vegas.  If only match, they are going down, if earned they are changing based on the new MGM Rewards program and it is debatable as to up or down.

I'm Diamond Plus with Royal Caribbean and because of match I am Platinum in Las Vegas. This is only because of match.   Am I gold with Mlife?  Gosh, I feel dumb.

Its totally confusing.  Yes, as of 2/1/2022 you will now be downgraded to Gold.  MGM just yesterday changed their rewards program.  If you go to Vegas this year, you will probably have to go to the MLife desk and "re-match."  They'll give you a new card, but it'll only be gold.

Thru MLife (now MGM Rewards), I was Platinum because of my C&A D+ status.

However - when I logged on earlier today, I was downgraded to Sapphire.  I think many were, as of yesterday.

So I e-mailed them (memberservices at mgmresorts dot com) with my name, MGM Rewards #, and C&A #, along with a screen-shot from the Royal website that had a) my C&A # and b) indicated my D+ status.  And of course, also asking to please update my status to Gold.

A few hours later, they responded - and I'm Gold.

I remember this was the case a few years ago also (having to reach out to them)... I don't think (?) they do it automatically.

I've never been to MGM or used Mlife.  I status matched my D+ to Mlife only to get the status match with Hyatt which I do use.

I've not had to rematch my Hyatt status each year.

Thank you for your help, I just did this for 2022.  I have been status matched for nearly a decade, through this great partnership.  Best thing for us, is that there are now real benefits (no Resort Fees) and we have lifetime status!

Not a big gambler but the tier "match" was/is nice. Only drawback for me going down to Gold is that it will not qualify for tier match Diamond status with the Caesars program which is where the resort fee waiver kicks in, plus in that program the $100 celebration dinner did not require a specific $ gamble/spend.

MGM Gold still matches to CET Diamond for now:

However I am not sure if you can match more than once or if it is first time only.  The resort fee waiver is a solid perk, but since MGM is doing that for Gold & higher now so that helps!
