Existing protocols extended indefinitely

Will be interesting to see if that pans out.  Fuel cost also hit hard last time.

Are they going to expand capacity on the ships?  Is that part of how they plan to return to profit?  That would certainly help.

Not all ships are sailing yet but will be soon. They have been expanding capacity almost monthly as ships start sailing again. One of the reasons so many cabins are being almost given away. They have a lot of cabins to fill in a short period of time. Once all are sailing, prices can start to rise again. Just in time for summer.

Fuel is higher, but maybe Carnival hedged?

Fully aware of who owns the stock, and I did mention bankruptcy.

Did you notice the loss?  1.9 revenue, 11 in cost.  How long can they go negative without taking on more debt or more share dilution?  Current shareholders will not like that.  How many ships does Carnival have on order?  How many did they sale to keep the lights on?  I also realize that is not a full year cost/revenue scenario.

Where is Carnival cutting cost?  The staff?  The product?

Listen to the next earnings call, if so interested.

Carnival had a post on Facebook this morning stating that the existing protocols are extended indefinitely.

Good Call. But it was expected.

Just canceled all the cruises for late 2022 and 2023 think we are going to cruise via an upgraded Lake Boat with the money we just saved, $$$ 🙌

Sounds like you found the perfect vacation for you!  See, it all works out, have fun!

The alternative is bankruptcy. Carnival is sailing and the cruises are cash flow positive. That is sustainable.

CCL is just like 99% of most USA companies, in debt.  There are only a handful of debt free companies in this country (20, 25, 30 or so, maybe), never use your own money, use someone else's money in business (loans etc).  This is not a new concept, I believe we have all heard it before.  CCL has been doing just fine under the circumstances and doing what they need to do to continue cruising.

I just checked their price and it was still $100. That is why I am reading this posts to get more information.

and I was trying to schedule beyond January, but they still haven't opened the schedule.

The $10 did say for short cruises.

I just wish the Verifly was available for all the ships.  Nice to have all our docs in 1 spot and I don't have to worry about my 15yo losing something from the line to the check in counter as it would all be on his phone.  We leave on the Horizon in 2 weeks

Heck its not even working for my Mardi Gras cruise.  I have Verifly for international travel and I have a Mardi Gras booking for March, but I can't connect the two even following the steps outlined to do so.  My cruise must not be one of the "select" Mardi Gras cruises...hopefully soon!

Carnival only recently extended the port testing from through January to through February.

For sailings departing through February 28, 2022, a limited number of antigen tests for vaccinated guests only will be available at the cruise terminal on the day of sailing. Advance reservations are required, and availability is on a capacity-controlled basis. A non-refundable payment of US$100 per person will be collected by the testing provider at the time the reservation is made (major credit cards and debit cards accepted). Guests who schedule their test for the day of sailing must still arrive at their arrival appointment. To make a reservation, please use the link designated below for your departure port.

Pretty sure you meant to quote someone else as my comment was about verifly, not testing.  But the answer is probably the same for both...its new so things may not be updated everywhere its suppose to be yet.

You mentioned a March cruise and I was trying both Verifly and to schedule a test for March.

Not a surprise at all. Once my 5yo can be vacc'd in 8 months, we'll see how/what the protocols are looking like, as well as the real world onboard experience, and go from there.

In the mean time we have three more AIs' booked. They have been wonderful and such a godsend of fun and flexibility over the past two years! They get our $$$$ for now.

So, yes - Sip & Cover is annoying, but you get pretty used to it … or, don’t sit at the bar and take your drink somewhere less crowded (for me, a couch along the windows outside the casino/Red Frog currently where I don’t have to be so fastidious about the masking up between drinks.

But, as Lionel told me last night, he prefers people sitting at the bar wear masks for his safety. That’s good enough for me to do it if I want to sit at the bar.

The Sip and Cover is only for the Casino Bar not all Bars

All guests, ages two and above, are required to wear masks at all times when indoors, except when eating or drinking or when in their own staterooms and when outdoors if in large gatherings and physical distancing cannot be maintained. As advised by health experts, guests are recommended to use higher-grade masks indoors (such as surgical or KN95) that have two or more layers, completely cover the nose and mouth, fit snugly against the sides of the face and have a nose wire.

CASINO

  • There is no smoking in the casino at all times.
  • Guests must wear a facemask and “sip and cover” when drinking their beverage.
  • Seats at gaming tables and slots are reserved for players only.
  • The casino bar is open but is a no-smoking area.
  • Smoking is not allowed anywhere on board during refueling.

I have already sailed under the current protocols.  I'm okay with that for the time being.  What concerns me is they have said that the vaccine protocol will automatically change to require a booster if the CDC says that it is required to be "fully vaccinated."  Carnival is no longer bound by CDC guidelines, so anything they do is squarely on them.  It will be Carnival requiring the booster!  After seeing what I have seen over the past year, I have no intention of getting a booster because, just like the first shots, they don't work to prevent the spread of the virus.  We've already seen numerous folks around here that had the booster yet still got Covid and some still ended up in the hospital.  However, just like before any vaccines, those who are getting the sickest are those who have underlying conditions already.  It really makes no difference if they have the booster or not.

Right there with you, I see no need for a booster. I have had (in order)--Oldschool Covid infection, shot, second shot, Omicron (basically the sniffles). No interest or need in a booster.

I agree with you 100% on the booster. I have had my first  first two and am now overdue for the booster. I am highly skeptical so I insisted my doc order an immunity test to check my immunity before getting the third shot. I got the results last week, my immunity level for Covid 19 is very high so I am well protected and I have the letter from my doc to prove it. There is absolutely no way I will get the booster.

Where did you see that Carnival said if the CDC determines fully vaccinated includes a booster it will be required? I would think requiring an additional shot would be a major change to their protocols and the full refund policy would be in place for those that aren’t boosted after February 15th. Now, if the CDC adds the booster before that date and Carnival requires it I will have 4 cruises to cancel.

I have had a series of 3 primary doses followed by a booster (4th dose) and have underlying medical condition. Been exposed to Covid as a close contact on and off the ship and never got it. I thank God for my series of 4 that includes the booster. It has kept me safe. I plan on getting another dose if eligible in 5 months.

As you probably should.  I have seen your posts before and if I had your medical conditions, I would probably do so as well.

Odd.  So people booked up until Jan 31 can cancel and people booked April + can cancel, but Feb and March bookings can't cancel?

It gives them more time to try to fill cancellations. I would guess. I called to cancel my august bookings after you go through the menu selections it tells you to call back tomorrow.

Have you had Delta yet?  Also, Omicron is repeatable with different symptoms...good luck!

I dont know, maybe. If I have repeatable Omicron symptoms I would not even notice. Thanks for the good luck!

that's my concern.. we are currently considered fully vaccinated, if that changes after 2/15 I would hope they change their stance on full refund

I would say the would.

They seem to be offering refunds to those who have had the terms change after they booked.
