I just received 6 emails from Carnival notifying me of continuation of the protocols.  They are offering full refunds for people with cruises booked from April 2022 onwards, but only till February 15th, after which normal penalties apply.

did I miss something....would my March 26/22 cruise be fully refunded?

I'm glad the Covid protocols will be continued by Carnival. I wish they would add that a booster shot would also be required. Holland America must be getting pressure to add the booster to its requireents as we received an email from them early last week asking if a booster was required, would we still cruise. I said definitely yes. The more we can do to mitigate Covid the better off we will all be.

According to the communication that was sent out you should be able to cancel for a full refund.  The on-line cancellation link doesn’t work for most cruises though, so you’ll have to call Carnival to cancel.

Or call your TA, depending on how you booked the cruise.

Not at all surprising.  I don't mind, if I need to get tested and mask up to get on a ship so be it (especially if it means I can go to the casino without smelling the stench of stale smoke).

Agree 300 percent! We don't need the smoke from the casino at least not me.

You hope that people aren't sailing...as a stockholder?  Do you hold deep OTM puts or somthing?

Quite the contrary.  I hope that the bean counters, as well as mgt, do not feel that there are 'lots of people cruising'.  'Lots' is relative; when looking at occupancy on ships today, there are not 'lots of people cruising'.

Wished they stopped with the testing and just keep everything else. But I'm still sailing....

Testing is a false containment, we were negative flying into Orlando, negative night before, negative at disembarkation, positive and sick after the cruise.

It's endemic and if you cruise you need to accept that the probability of getting it currently is very high

Is there a particular capacity that needs to be reached to transition from Some to Lots?

It's a pandemic and testing stop a lot of it from getting onto ships.

Carnival's last 5 ships will be sailing within 2-3 months. That lots of ships - from 0 to all -  sailing in less than a year.

It's free to listen to earnings and business update calls

"

Carnival Corporation expects to return to profitability in the second half of 2022, according to Arnold Donald, president and CEO, who spoke on Monday's fourth quarter business update conference call.

And for 2023, he expects EBITDA to be higher than it was in 2019.

Carnival already turned cash positive in November, according to David Bernstein, CFO, a month ahead of expectations.

Increased operating expenses for 2022 are due to restart and drydock costs and are not expected to reoccur in 2023."

Good question.  I guess some would call the 65% drop in ccl stock the past 5 years 'some'...some would call it 'lots'.  Some would apply common sense to conclude how the cruise lines are doing.  Or be a smart a$$.  Whatever floats your boat.

My concern is low 35-50% ship occupancy (despite the free/low prices), and the general public only willing to jump thru the draconian protocols once before deciding to spend vacation $'s in a different way.  But 'too big to fail' is a belief among some.

You go ahead and listen to whatever free update you want...I'll follow the stock drop of 65% in the past 5 years as part of my update.

Unless you adopt measures like Taiwan or other places, while some mitigation, not going to stop it.

When I return to Taiwan I need to be PCR negative when I get on the plane,  tested again on arrival.  Go into 7 day quarantine with test mid and end of quarantine, all negative, followed by another 7 days of home self managed quarantine.    It is only if you do that can you prevent bleed in, an even than they have two incidents of escapes, very difficult.

Some people toss out statistics like they know what they are talking about. Meanwhile, the people with access to real financial data are making the business decisions. Who to believe? 🤣

True indeed.  Most individuals discover if they follow the $, it will lead to the source of truth/who to believe.   Not being a cheer leader, I believe this philosophy.
