Cruise planner purchases

Recommended Posts

Can purchases made through the cruise planner be cancelled while on board? If so, is the amount refunded to the original payment form or given as obc? Are there fees for cancelling within a certain period?

what exactly are you canceling?  Only thing I ever canceled onboard that was pre purchased was a shore excursion and we were given the amount back as OBC.  This was in 2019.

Once on board, they are refunded to your SeaPass account.

Only shore excursions have time restrictions.  You must cancel at least 48 hours before that port day.

I am not sure how they handle cancellation of the DBP.  Someone else will know, though.  😉

Are there penalties for canceling specialty dining resi or spa treatments?

There might be time restrictions - maybe 24 hours ahead?

The OBC you get for canceling can be cashed in via a slot machine in the casino.

I don't normally go into the casino.  How do you cash in via a slot machine?  Thank you.

You transfer the OBC to the machine, hit cash out and take it to the cashier/cash machine for cash.

When transferring the OBC to the machine, is this done on the slot machine itself?  Sorry but I never play the slots.  Just remember the old slots where you put the coins in lol.

Thank you for the quick replies.  Much appreciated!

Yes, you are basically laundering the money through the slot machine (electronically) - you never need to play.

You insert your Seapass card in the slot machine, do a "room charge" to transfer funds into the machine, then immediately cash out to get a ticket to take to the cashier to get your cash.

Thank you!  I hope we don't need to cancel our excursion or Royal cancel while on the ship, but it's good to know that we can get our money back.  Thanks for the detailed instructions - I appreciate it!

If Royal cancels the excursion or you cancel it 48 prior to the excursion it is returned as refundable OBC.  There is no need to take it out at the casino as it will be refunded to your card at the end of the cruise assuming that you did not spend it on anything else on board

Thank you.  I did not know that either.

I saw all your upcoming cruises in your signature line.  WOW!  I am so jealous!

Say for example you will be getting free specialty dinner from your TA. These never hit your onboard account until day 2. Can you book a dinner pre-cruise, then cancel on board and re book the free dinner (or when you cancel you get OBC?). What do people recommend?

You may also get a refund if you cancel less that 48 hours if what you are cancelling is sold out and has a wait list.  They will sell your slots to someone else and refund you.

But I would not count on that.

Or at the purser's desk if there is no line... or if you don't mind waiting in one.

Perhaps not for a cruise planner cancellation, but some OBC may be non-refundable and the purser may not provide cash in that instance, but the slot machine scheme will still work.

Yes I had used up the NRF part of the OBC and only had refundable left when I cashed out.  As for the casino for NRF, some cruise lines are starting to wake up to that and not allowing NRF to be used in the casino.  I am assuming based on your advice that RC hasn't done so.

We have booked and paid for a particular day and time and then after boarding  used a package night instead. Never been a problem, refund is a refundable OBC.
