MGM Partnership

I seen this as part of the partnership for Celebrity Captain Club members with MGM

It use to be Elite Plus got Platinum and now it is Gold.   With Gold your resort fees are waived and I think get free parking at those places that charge for parking.   The resort fees amount to about $45 /night when staying at one of the casinos.  Plus you also get reduced hotel rates.

What I didn’t know about was the SBC that you can get.   Naturally there are restrictions and most won’t qualify but it is worth looking into.   What you have to do is go to a MGM owned casino to the rewards desk and provide your Captain Club number and ID.   You will then get your reward card that is good for one year.   You have to renew every year.

The rest is up to you to take advantage of those benefits

Are you saying that if you are Elite Plus on Celebrity you get Gold status at MGM and then you can turn around and use that status to get shipboard credit?

I thought you had to earn the Gold status at MGM to get Celebrity benefits.

I've never been able to get OBC after matching to MGM Gold from Celebrity Elite. I was told it was because status needed to be earned to qualify, just as you wrote.

This can easily be done via email as well if you don't need the physical card.

I live in the Detroit area.   I went to the MGM casino in Detroit and supplied my Celebrity Captain Club number at the Rewards Desk.  They gave me platinum status for being Elite Plus in 2020

in Vegas I also went to Caesars Rewards and they matched my status at MGM.  I got $100 dining credit plus 2 tickets to a show.   In 2021 they didn’t offer the match

I also went to Wynn and they also matched my status but it didn’t offer much.

Now it is it is Gold instead of Platinum.  But still has some good benefits.  Especially if you can get the Ship board credits and don’t have to pay for resort fees or parking

I was looking at booking a room at the Bellagio for 5 nights in Aug.  2022.  It would be about $500.   Not bad for a premium hotel that has rooms that re like suites.  If I didn’t have the status it would be another $45/ night resort fees plus parking as we drive there

it doesn’t cost anything to enroll and may give you some extra benefits

just trying to be helpful and pass along benefits that you ,any not have know about

The parking benefit alone in Vegas is worth the effort to get the status match. We did it before the pandemic started and saved a lot of money just going down for shows and dinners.  They recently added parking during T-Moble events to the gold and above benefit.   A few months ago as things were opening up again, finally we stopped by the rewards desk at MGM and got renewed in 5 minutes.  Well worth doing.

I was able to use my MGM Gold status to get far more than $150 in OBC (SBC).
I saved over $4,000 in an S1 on Beyond this year. Thank you MGM.

To do that my understanding is that you have to earn the gold status with MGM to get the Celebrity perks.  Conversely when you earn the Celebrity status you get the MGM perks.

I wondered about this, because you or someone else mentioned it in another thread.  I checked out the MGM website and it said it had to be done in person—not sure if that is new, or if it’s still possible to get it via email depending on who reads it 😃

We’ll be staying at the Mirage for a few nights in July so it would be nice to have the match before then for the waived resort fees and parking.

When we started our matching we had to go to an MGM property here in person to pick up our cards. Everything was set up with phone calls and email. It was easy.

Just a heads up the Mirage is being or has been sold to the Hard Rock group. Not sure if the sale is complete but there are big re-branding plans already announced including removing the volcano out front.   The Mirage is still listed on the MGM web site but I would ask about July. The sale is supposed to close in 2022.

The sale hasn't been completed yet and as of now and July it's a MGM Property. I'll be also staying at Mirage in July along with other casinos.

Well, if I happen to see you again while out walking, I’ll say hello this time.  LOL.

We are MGM Gold and Celebrity Elite. Our MGM gold status gives us comped rooms via MLife at all MGM properties.  We have taken advantage of this many times, always at The Mirage in Vegas.  The resort fee has never once been waived on a comped room.

The waiver of Resort Fees for Gold members and higher just started when MGM revamped their Players Club Program from MLife to MGM Rewards which took place February 1, 2022.

I've done it several times via email for myself and various family members. I matched via email as recently as early February for my wife and me.

MLife is now MGM Rewards as of Feb 1, 2022 and If you’re Gold, the resort fees are now comped.
