On board.  94 positives!  Out of maybe 500 tested.  Everyone was ordered to mask all the time following the high percentage.  Ship also denied entry into Morocco for positive COVID.  Morocco is Level 1 - negligible COVID.  There is a lot the cruise lines are not reporting.

UGGG....how long was the TA?

@bananavan I'm so frustrated that this thread has moved away from supportive information for you and your situation and I sincerely hope this hasn't discouraged you from posting. The last that I heard was a post from you on Jim_Iian's thread indicating that you are trying to obtain a longer rental in Civitavecchia.

How are you doing with that? How is your husband feeling? Did you test negative on your last/final day of the 5-day mandatory testing period?

I have traveled to Rome a number of times and know one terrific tour guide. I couldn't promise that he would be able to assist with information on Civitavecchia but I'm pretty sure that he would have contacts who could as he seems to know everyone in that part of Italy. I don't think I'm the only one who has some information about the region that would be of help to you, if needed. Just please let us know.

Thank you.
Yes, the diversion to debating the transmission via the air ducts is not very helpful.
Between trying to find out what our options are...apparently Celebrity is going on a situation by situation based approach, and trying to let our children know what is going on, I have had little time to post.
Having a uniform policy is seemingly not in Celebrity's wheelhouse.
I get told that they have been having meetings via the internet as to options, I wish they would start using real communication methods because things change every day.
On this ship, we are tested in different locations every day. And nobody tells us where that is. Kind of like a Scavenger hunt but there are no treats nor are there clues.
If my husband tests positive at midnight tonight we have chosen to stay on the ship for the next cruise.
I have the option of going to his cabin, not going to happen. That is insane.
I can disembark.  Also insane if you knew what I have been through the last two days.
I can stay on, albeit not in my original cabin, and not  necessarily in the same Category.
I cannot stay as I have to go to the computer area to recharge my laptop.
We brought one chase cord between us and I sacrificed it to him.
And packing tip #1. Dont bring the big Costco toothpaste. #1, you will never go through that huge tube on a cruise anyway and #2 If you are placed in different environments you have to make the Job like decision of who gets the tube. HINT: The Quarantined patient should get first dibs.

Evana,

Reading what wasn't said, I can surmise that you've continued to test negative! That's good news.

At least if your husband's positive test continues, you will have accommodations. I remember that you're taking advantage of the tub in your current stateroom. I would hope that whatever stateroom is available to you that at least you'll be comfortable, somewhat.

And I hope this means that you also have the ability to use the ship's facilities, inclusive of the restaurants onboard.

It's so unsettling that your situation is so mercurial.

Thoughts and prayers...

Can’t speak to anything other than once you test positive.  Where, when, how is pointless IMHO.   You must learn all you can.  Read up online “COVID Recovery Certificate.”  You cannot presently return to the US without either a negative test (antigen or PCR…must be supervised with a report..like Abbott BiNax proctored antigen test you can do via internet) OR a Covid Recovery Certificate.  Suggest you purchase a “boat load” of antigen kits…like Flowflex at Costco or wherever you can find them.  Not easy to find in London (at our present location) for your cruise..we did and when my partner felt ill on day 6 we tested and he was positive and I was negative.  We called medical…”stay in your room”. 1 hour later nice Dr. appears and tests both, partner PCR positive.   Day 6 effectively end of cruise.   Best of all and most grateful..mild cold like symptoms.  Both triple “jabbed” as they say. Won’t go into details on quarantine experience as there are many posts already.   Our experience very similar.  We love the crew…but they were short staff and the ship ran 90% full with 98% unmasked.  Some chose to report to medical…others did not.

We moved flights..thank you Celebrity Air to tomorrow and heading to LHR to check in 24 hours and provide documents…none of which could be uploaded on VeriFly FYI.  Calling British Air is impossible…long hold times and we only really know if we can fly by going to airport hotel and heading over to see what happens…new reality.  All 1st world problems…partner feeling fine but still testing positive on LFT.  This has been our experience.

If you or others are cruising soon and just catching up on this blog start from the top is my suggestion so you get it all and can make informed decisions and do your research.  Wish you well!

Great report and suggestions.

While we had a number of tests with us testing Positive on the B2B on Silhouette I got dumped off the ship and Celebrity would neither test me further or give me some test.

I'm in a small town after isolation close to Southampton.   I found a fantastic drug store called Superdrug with stores all over UK.    There is one across the street from my AirBnb.   They have a service where you can order online and pickup at the front counter in 30 minutes.    I picked up 10 test for 1.95 pound per test.     I arrived in 15 minutes after ordering and they had already picked them but didn't have time to put my name on them yet.

It allowed us to both test daily until we were negative.

Hope you get well soon.   Just as a precaution we are getting Covid Recovery Certificates and will probably use that instead of testing with the proctored tests.

Would be interested to hear how things went at airport.   We are somewhat lucky as we were planning on visiting Iain's sister in Scotland after isolating for 7 days and testing negative.

Does VeriFly not allow you to upload Negative Results or the Recovery Certificate or both?   We won't be flying home until about May 15 so have plenty of time to work things out.   Was curious if the Verifly snag was BA or all airlines as we are flying United  and spending the night before at a LHR Airport just in case.

I am curious about isolation once leaving the ship.   Do you let the hotel or AIRBNB know that you have tested positive with COVID.   I would expect the hotel to complete disinfect between customers but what about the AIRBNB?

I guess it depends on the country an local requirements.   In the UK they have dropped all regulations and isolation requirement.  There isn't even requirement to wear a mask if you have Covid.     We advised our host and he was happy to oblige.   The place is spotless and disinfectant  sprays and hand sanitation in every room (his standard protocol)

We tried multiple times to upload day before flight with VeriFly…app would not accept either my result or Ray’s certificate.  We printed and went to LHR when the flight opened for check in.  We stayed at the Hyatt Place LHR airport for one night.  When we gave all documents for check in I said VeriFly didn’t work.  She said happens all the time.  Looked at documents maybe 3 seconds handed back printed boarding passes and we were done.  I asked do we need to present them tomorrow??  Nope all set. Went back to hotel and started drinking LOL.

Wonderful to hear.    I'm sure you deserved a double.

I'm sure you both felt such a relief.   Wish we had gotten to meet.   Were you on the TA or the Spain Portugal?

You guys have been rockstars, my heroes.
Apparently things changed on May1.
Celebrity no longer provides compensation for lodging when you are removed from the ship.
That is supposedly on your own dime.
We could disembark if my husband tests positive but then Italy's regulations are that he has to quarantine until he is negative or has been in isolation for 21 days, whichever comes first.
We thought of doing that but we have no idea how he might test in the future and that puts me at risk of developing Covid while I am in Italy. At that point we have no options.
At least staying on the ship we are still Celebrity's resonsibility.
It is after midnight here and we are waiting for the results of his midnight test.
@@@@@@ Edited to add. He is positive. We are staying on. @@@@@@@
This is like waiting for the call from the Governor to find out if there is a stay of Execution .
If he tests positive he gets to play the game of Traffic light
He will go from being in the Red Zone on Deck 12 to the Yellow Zone on Deck 6.
We have no idea what the terms of that one are.
He will then test again on May 11. If he is Negative, he can join me in whatever cabin I am placed.
If he is Positive, then we stay on until May 21.
By then he will have satisfied Italy's requirement of 21 days quarantine.
Now if you will excuse me, I have a few tears to shed and a few phone calls to make regarding the next cruise of 21 days that will have to be canceled post haste.
Arghh
And yes, I have tested NEGATIVE every time.

Omg …sending healing and positive  thoughts your way..i was not aware Italy has a 21 day quarantine..that seems so long..we are scheduled to sail from Rome this summer and have been nervous..but this takes it to a new level…good luck with everything

I haven’t heard this before.

Question- how would “Italy” even know your COVID status???

The cruise line reports cases to port authorities as part of the process of gaining port entry. I think it is called free pratique.

Oops sorry, I didn’t mean to reply, I meant this as a separate post on this thread! Typing on a train, never good!

I was on your Edge TA. So sorry to hear of your trials and thank you for reporting. Just wondering if you heard the numbers of how many back to backers tested positive? And if somehow you might have heard anything about how many tested positive before flying home to USA-though that would be a tough thing to find out. Folks from Canada and from the UK no longer have to test to fly home. The USA really needs to catch up with them and stop the reentry test as well. Thank you and stay strong!

Also, can’t you get a letter of recovery after the 10 days and no fever?

Covid seems to be so fluid.
We get so many differing scenarios.
I was allowed to stay in my Suite.
I found this out when I checked in for the B2B passenger checkin.
I had packed all of my husbands items into a suitcase just in case he tested negative and we were permitted to disembark. Had that happened he would not have been permitted to return to the suite after release from the Red Zone. So he would have walked out wearing the same clothes that he walked upstairs in.
I had packed all of my clothes into the remaining bags.
I was extremely grateful to be permitted to stay in the same suite.
I lost many of the perks that I had experienced and paid for on the prior cruise. I lost the drink package. I lost Wifi. My husband is allowed to have the unlimited Wifi.
He was moved into the Yellow zone on Deck 6. His view is of the top of the lifeboats. He is hoping that the two tender ports are going to use the lifeboat below his window. The window does not open.
He is unable to exercise anywhere. He still cannot leave the cabin. His meals are from the Room service menu. He is post cancer surgery and seriously how tough would it be to allow him to have the occasional vegetable.?
And before anyones jumps on me and tells me that we should probably have considered that when we came onboard, please get a life and go and harass someone else. The rules have been changed more frequently than the Pampers on a two week old baby.
So to recap:
He has no ability to build up his health
He has no air circulation
He has no variety in his meals
He has no entertainment. Until you have had the limited television choices that are presently being offered, you have no idea
We did not purchase the Retreat as part of the  Move up. We purchased the vacation as a Retreat experience in March of 2021 and paid full fare.
My husband completely missed the cruise experience for 7 complete days.
I missed the Retreat experience for 6 days.
I was unable to dine anywhere except in my room.
I was not able to drink any beverages anywhere except in my room.
Oddly, the close contacts of the Positive Casino Passengers were permitted to drink in the bars. That is what one of them told me.
If we had left the ship today we would no longer be the responsibility of Celebrity. Considering he had tested positive  in our suite before the ship docked at our first port, there is no doubt as to his acquiring the virus while we were guests of Celebrity.  All of the expenses incurred from the moment we disembarked would be our responsibility.
As of this moment, my husband will be tested again on May 11. If he is negative he will be able t rejoin me. Celebrity is arranging for flights home for us effective May 14 in the same class of flight that we had originally booked with Princess for our now canceled 3 week cruise starting on May 7.
These were business class tickets.
I am mentally drained and physically exhausted so if I am not answering as you might like me to, please understand that .

Please check those timelines to be certain.
Yesterday that is what I was told by a Retreat Hostess. And now I cannot find the written directive that she presented to me.
I have so many pieces of paper and so few that make any sense.
It is amazing how many times I have been informed by customer service that I was told something and I have not been. I have not been given much information in writing.
Considering our experience and how close to the EDGE we had to be before we had any answers I wish we had been aware of the consequences of cruising. with the conditions that are present now.

I’m so sorry this is happening to you! Best wishes for his complete healing and for strength for you both!

Thank you.
I finally broke down in the Retreat this afternoon when I was waiting to find out what my benefits would be. I had lost the Wifi. I need to be able to communicate with our travel agent, our newly canceled travel arrangements etc. No Wifi is not a good idea. SO I paid over $300 for the one week of Premium Wifi.
And no, I am not lucky that I am able to stay on etc.
I had a Corner Aft Suite on Regal Princess that should have started tomorrow. That had Wifi,  drinks, laundry , gratuities included in the cost of the cruise. So I am more that willing to pay for services.
I broke down because I was so upset for my husband who is alone. Covid has sucked big time for everyone but throw in aging and a cancer diagnosis and all of a sudden you have dark days.
I had to ask repeatedly for him to have feather pillows and an extra blanket.
Today I stood in the Customer service line as I watched two twenty somethings pulling rank  at customer service because CS could not guarantee a 7;30 taxi for them when they disembark in 8 days. After all these flight arrangements had been self made and not  by Celebrity. Somehow they were expecting to make a flight home at 10;30 am. And somehow Celebrity deserved their disgust for not cooperating.
They should have to walk a mile in my sandals. Today I actually set a new record for me. 6.5 miles!!
Anyway, Thank you again.

They will actually allow covid positive passengers to stay on after their paid cruise has ended without extra cost?

Considering the cruise that we paid for was not the cruise we got as a result of my husband developing Covid onboard the ship, would you expect anything less?
What would your comments be if you heard that Covid positive cruisers were wandering around free to infect anywhere they wanted to?

So sorry to hear he can only eat from the room service menu. On top of everything else it's  awful to have the same limited food choice day after day.  I'm sure i read other ships allowed their quarantined pax food from the dinning rooms. They seem to be falling down on their duty of care

I hope he is OK and is able to rejoin you soon.
