CalLuvsCrusingToo Posted June 5, 2022 #26 Share Posted June 5, 2022 Rough seas, the coathangers moving could turn the hallcloset sensor light on. I like the bandaid idea to cover sensor, and yeah we used the small pillows to block underneath the nightstands. For the bathroom, we bring battery op votive candles, for overnight. We prefer Not to plug in nightlights, cuz there are so few places to plug in anything.

On Majestic they were unobtrusive when I got out of bed, so not a problem.

We always travel with a roll of black electrical tape and use that to cover the sensors. Thanks. couldnt figure out where the sensor was

They come On when you step out of bed, not randomly. But if youre up and down at night? They come on every time unless you block it with a pillow or something. Right, I did not think they were a problem, whereas the ceiling light lit up the whole cabin.

We tolerated that for about an hour one night before we were digging out the duct tape we always pack. I was cruising on the Ruby Princess for several months when that whole system was installed. I remember going back to the guys who were installing it and telling them that, if we had to have that sensor in the hall, they had to come back and make an adjustment to allow our light stay on longer. I was always in the middle of doing something in the safe when the light would go out and I’d have to do a little dance to get it going again. So if you’re in R741 on the Ruby Princess and your hall light stays on longer than the average cabin, you can blame (or thank) me. 😆
Pam in CA Posted June 5, 2022 #32 Share Posted June 5, 2022 I called Guest Services and asked them to mask the sensors for the hallway light and the nightstand lights. They were awful.
BuckeyeMark Posted June 5, 2022 #33 Share Posted June 5, 2022 Are these lights in every class of room or just in some rooms - like suites?

CruisinFinsUp Posted June 5, 2022 #36 Share Posted June 5, 2022 Enchanted did NOT have this nonsense in March. I will be packing tape to cover all the sensors for sure. I too hate that the closet light and the over bed light are on the same switch. Never used to be on the Grand class ships. The folks that design these things must do things differently than hubby and I do because these things make NO sense to us!
