Does Oceania ever give Onboard Credit

We have booked an Oceania cruise for 2023, never having sailed with Oceania before. We like the itinerary but now are wondering why there is no OBC given by the cruise line. We are used to getting such credit on the other cruise lines we have sailed. Does Oceania ever offer OBC?

Sure they do, talk to your Travel Agent because there can be opportunities. If you selected the O Life Amenity Package, you can select from SBC, Free Excursions or a Drink Package. If you checked out many of the posts, you may have seen how being a NCLH Shareholder of 100 shares can earn you $50-250 in SBC, based on the length of the cruise,  on EVERY cruise you take on any of the three brands. Since the price is currently in the $10+ range, that is not a huge investment for a payback.
While this may be your first Oceania cruise, I can not imagine it will be your last.  Oceania is a great cruise line and the “Finest Cuisine At Sea” is not just a boast, it is real.
Good Luck.

O Life is not really OBC -- you pay for your O Life.

Oceania occasionally has specials where they may offer some amount of OBC.

However unlike "mass market" lines which make many offers from free specialties, OBC, free drinks (NCL is an example), Oceania does NOT.

Thanks for responses. Yes, my TA will give us a small OBC,  but we did not choose OLife, so I just wondered if Oceania might offer OBC during a sale period. Sounds like they are not likely to do that. We sail by itinerary so will likely not change our booking.

Since Oceania does not charge for any non-alcoholic beverages not for specialty restaurants, etc.,  you do not need much OBC like you do on the mass market cruise lines....no nickle and diming on O.....,.

You get a whopping $50 OBC per person when you move up to bronze level, after 4 cruises.

$100.00 for bronze

$250.00 for silver plus free gratuities

$400.00 for gold plus free gratuities

$500.00 for platinum and a free cruise plus free gratuities

Oceania Club Cruise Loyalty Program & Cruise Deals | Oceania Cruises

I'll take that any day over a mass market with a $100.00 "free OBC" and you pay for everything!

azalice,

Rebooking with perks may not be applicable. I'm sure you will watch the never ending offers but if you are comfortable with the price you may not find your rate even with an offer in the future either. O cruises tend to sell out early.

According to so many O fans on the board you may not be using the most O friendly agent. Many of us get "nice" perks from our agents. Some of us even get cash back or a combination of perks and cash back.

Hopefully you will enjoy your cruise and wish to book another. Booking onboard will also provide an OBC.

They will target you with OBC for selected cruises via Email, once on their nasty spam list.  Over memorial day we received one offering $500 OBC on select cruises.

Of course your TA can give more benefits.  There are some Internet agencies that will advertise 5% OBC (that is the maximum they can advertise), many do give more (unadvertised)

I'm curious, what cruise lines do you usually sail? We've taken around 15 cruises and we've never been given OBC by the cruise line.

patty1955 - we currently, for Sept.  2022, have 1000 dollar OBC from Azamara. We normally have OBC on our HAL, Princess, and Celebrity cruising. And that is not the small amount we get from our TA.

Do you get OBC just for booking a cruise  or is it  a loyalty OBC/promo ?

We did get $100 OBC from AQSC for our first booking but that was the only time

We also receive OBC on Princess but it is either due to loyalty and/or a promo.   In 15 cruises over 10 years we have never received OBC just because from Princess (this does not count OBC from TA)....it is the same on Oceania...OBC due to loyalty and/or promo...

Good score on AQSC....they do have a great promotion on your cruise,....50% off 2nd guest and $500.00 per person OBC!

I think that was pre-Covid. I’m seeing many itineraries with availability in all of the Veranda and Concierge categories, and even some with availability in penthouse. Especially if you are looking at 2023 when most FCC’s will have expired.

We booked our Baltic cruise in July 2021, choosing the free shore excursions. Early in 2022, Oceania revised our itinerary, dropping three nights in St. Petersburg. In the spring of 2022 I noticed that Oceania was running an OLife Ultimate sale that included the dates of our cruise, so I called Oceania in April and received all three promotions: $600 OBC for the two of us, 6 free shore excursions, and the classic beverage package.

Just google Oceania OLife Ultimate sale and see if there is a current offer for your cruise.

If O marketing program holds true to form, You will see a 4th of July Sale advertised late next week so if it is included in that offering you might be able to book it.

Combine this with the shareholder credit. As the shares are inexpensive now@ $1,000 for 100 shares, you can get other OBC, uptown $250 per cruise. If you get to 20 cruises you get a "complimentary" cruise of uptown 14 days. Plus you TA will have benefits to shower on you or you should choose another TA. We get a @ 5% travel credit after our cruise from our TA. All in all Oceania has one of the best loyalty programs on the sea. But it rewards loyalty over time.

Oops, no 4th of July Sale sorry. Maybe we can hold out for the Labor Day Sale.  🤪

Chad and Kate are right on regarding Shareholder Credit.  While the stock closed about $11.80 ,IMHO it is still worth buying 100 or 200 shares and reaping the SBC benefit for all your Oceania cruises in the future. Besides, having 200 allows you to sell off a block when the price goes up, and it will 🤞🙏👍, and then all that SBC will be Free money.

Anybody had an experience of booking on board and receiving Onboard booking discount and combined it with the Shareholder OBC, or these two credits are not combinable. Most often we book or reprice our cruises while on board of any current cruise.

Our experience is that they are combines-able. We did a 20 and 26 day B2B cruise last fall on Riviera and had the On Board Booking Discount and our O Club SBC AND 2 $250 Shareholder benefits. We are on a Marina cruise in January and have On Board Booking Discount, Some Group SBC, our O Club SBC and we will apply for the Shareholder SBC of $250 in December. It is possible one of these will not “fly” but so far everything minus the Shareholder SBC IS ON OUR statement.
I believe there is a statement re Shareholder Benefits with the application or on the Website. Maybe even sometimes someone makes a mistake but it is nice to try to pile them up and do some major shopping at the end of a trip. DW bought some gifts for her nail and hair ladies on the last trip with some leftover non refundable SBC.

Thank you for your input. The price of the stock is so low it may worth a try.
