With the premium/stream internet, it’s pretty slow.  Also it took about a dozen attempts to connect to the guest Wi-Fi network yet my connection hasn’t dropped yet.  Based on my previous sailings, it’s somewhat based on how many are using it and the worst times seem to be an hour before the MDR/buffet opens.

At guest services, there’s the sign below in blue:

I am interested to hear how your sailing is. We were on the first western (July 2nd) and our experience was so-so. Unfortunately we all came home with COVID and it seemed like it must have been quite prevalent on board. Our biggest issues were the lack of communication onboard and the slow service in the dining room and at bars (also being served martinis in super tiny glasses, like 3-4 sips per martini). Hoping it is better for your sailing!

I don’t drink martinis so I can’t help with that. The dining room tonight was no slower than any other cruise I have been on, which is to say, allow two hours for dinner.  The food was very good.  I had the steak from the children’s menu and it was tender. Most everyone else at my table had the jerk chicken and enjoyed it.  Really it was no different than any other cruise.  This was the six o’clock traditional seating,

Dinner at Blu last night, only starters and entrees, requested a quick food service from when I checked in to when the entrees were put down, it was 55mins.  I would imagine if dessert was ordered or would add another 15-20mins to the time.  Food was cooked perfectly and tasted good; service itself was great.

Two months ago on the equinox, requested a speedy service, starters, entrees and desserts arrived in 25mins, was in and out in 30mins.

Buffet for breakfast this morning, walked the entire thing and unless something was missed they only have one omelet station open which only makes two at a time.  As reported previously, most of the buffet is self serve again.  I was a big fan of staff served but figured it was inevitable

There were two omelet stations when I was on in June. One was at the very back by the outdoor seating and one on one of the sides of the buffet. Unfortunately one of the burners was not working so even though there were two stations it was very slow.

Thanks!  Will check out all the way aft on the next port day (Tuesday)

Hi,

Thanks for your reports on the Celebrity Infinity. I am booked on the Infinity's cruise departing on September 3, 2022. It sounds like the ship has improved since its prior sailings. I have booked an AquaClass stateroom on Deck 9 and I am looking forward to dining in Blu. It would be great if you could provide updates / recommendations for Blu.

Thanks,

Chuck

I was at The absolutely last Infinity cruise back in March 2020 - I remembered one of the waiters in the Blu restaurant telling about his grandma working in the kitchen. At that time she was 102 years old and responsible for all the Crème Brûlée all over the ship. I have been thinking a lot about her the last two years- how did she go through the last two years? Maybe you can ask, while you are onboard?

Do you happen to know if the past station in the buffet is back to the old "cook to order" model?  I sailed last year and they just had pre-cooked pasta casseroles available and I really liked choosing what I wanted in my pasta dish.  They said the change was due to safety protocols so I'm curious if that has changed yet.  Thanks!

They did not have any pre-made pasta casseroles at the buffet yesterday. I didn’t go today.

Just so happened to walk by, yes, there’s a “cooked to order”/live pasta station and near it is a “cooked to order”/live stir-fry station.  I was on the equinox a few times including last October, they had made to order pasta back then and I believe it was open after the buffet closes at 930

Hello Cruisestitch. I actually met you on board, this past January, on the Silhouette. You are as wonderful in person, as you are the cruise critic boards. Since you obviously sail a lot, I was wondering about your experience on the M class ship versus the S class ships. We have sailed S class several times, and absolutely love it. Sailed the E class one time and did not love it. Just wondering on your overall thoughts on the M class versus S class. Thanks!

It’s funny, as I was sitting at Café al Bacio today looking across toward the gelato stand, I was thinking how beautiful the M class ships are with their use of warm woods and comfortable upholstery fabrics.  I love the open spaces, and cozy nooks.  I love the quiet elegant bars.  I do miss the deck 3 specialty restaurants that disappeared when Tuscan went in, though, Ocean Liners and its sisters.

I do mostly sail S class ships these days and they took a little getting used to.  I remember how much I hated the color-changing neon lights in the dining room when I first saw them.  But I do like Murano and the aft-facing Tuscan (can’t stand Petite Chef, though!)

I am vehement and vocal about my dislike of e class and will never sail on one again.

We have always sailed S class with our first Infinity cruise coming up soon and an E class next year [with a sunset balcony]....

Anything to report on your own balcony room? Is it looking good or a little tired? How is the entertainment?

I am in a standard veranda room and everything is fine. As I walk around the ship, I see a few scuff marks here and there but nothing broken.  There are some missing floor indicator buttons on a couple of elevators but that’s being really nitpicking.

I generally don’t go to the shows in the theater so I won’t be able to help with that. The entertainment around the ship is very good, especially the solo guitarist who has a very nice voice.

my only complaint is the internet. It was difficult to get it set up and it seems to turn itself off intermittently.  I have premium on my iPhone and standard on my iPad and I can’t access cruise critic on the iPad.  It’s very slow on both devices.

@cruisestitch Would you be able to check out if there are any Peloton bikes in the fitness center? I know the Millennium/Summit had them installed during their refits pre-pandemic, but I'm not sure they've made it onto the non-refit Infinity. (Also not sure how functional they'd be at streaming with the sluggish internet, but that's another matter entirely).

@cruisestitchThanks for your live report!

We will be on Infinity in August and my son is interested about Apple products. Do they sell iPads oder Apple watches in the store?

No, watches of any kind and they do have older iPads get not sure which ones.  If you’re looking to exhaust your OBC, do a room charge at the casino and cash it all out.

Just so happen to go to “innovations” on deck 5 which is where they sell apple products and have the internet managers.  There is a iLounge yet it’s like a hotel business center, allows pax to use a computer and printer.  Was unmanned when I went.
