NFL on Celebrity

I’m on the Equinox on Sunday September 11th which is the first Sunday for the NFL season. I know there’s not a “Sports Bar” on the ship but is there any place/bar that I can watch a specific game at? Do they have Sunday ticket in any bars where they can tune in any game? Anybody have any past experience with this on the ships? Specifically the Equinox? Specifically the game is Ravens/Jets and it’s in NewYork at 1:00 so I’m hoping that may be a possible advantage of getting the broadcast at sea even though the ship sets sail out of southern Florida.

Probably some NFL games are in the casino.  Usually.  But Ravens/Jets?  Who knows.

Don't know about the Ravens/Jets game but they sometimes play the movie Quo Vadis on the TV. It's about the Romans throwing Christians to the lions. About the same thing. 😁

Since the ship is sailing out of Florida, and Miami is playing at 1:00 I doubt you will see the Jets.

They usually have one early game and one late afternoon game which cruise lines buy as part of an NFL package. Games selected in the package are chosen by the NFL and have nothing to do with where the ship is located, so AFAIK the ship being in/near South Florida is irrelevant. They also usually have all nationally televised games such as Sunday and Monday night football...usually shown on one of  ESPN's international channels.

We have not sailed on Equinox, but have been on a lot of S class cruises.  There is no place on the ship that allows you to watch any NFL game of your choice.

Your ship will be at sea on that day well on its way to Aruba and so it is doubtful that the ship will happen to have the feed for the Ravens @Jets game.  You should start thinking about Plan B.

I had a similar question for a college game. If I recall correctly they carry ESPN 1 and 2..so you might check their schedule for that day. Alas the ND - Ohio State game is on ABC. I think we can stream that on DHs laptop ..but will have to upgrade wifi to do so.  I believe that the televisions in the casino likely are carrying ESPN 1 and 2..not sure they get another service..if so..why not offer that to passengers as well? Checking the link below it looks like the game you want to watch is on CBS and Paramount plus. You might be able to stream that ..we are novices to streaming but I think..if you have cable that you might be able to log onto your cable provider account and stream Paramount plus if they carry that... but still trying to figure this out for myself..   https://www.sportsmediawatch.com/nfl-tv-schedule-2022-fox-nbc-cbs-espn-amazon-tnf-snf-mnf/

During our last cruise (Solstice, Jan 2020), we only got one of the ESPN channels on our stateroom television (and a couple of non-ESPN sports channels).  And it was the ESPN regional feed that was shown, so we got to watch soccer, rugby etc.  However I know I have seen college football on cruises (national championship game comes to mind), but it is not clear to me how the ship determines what games to show and even then it's not like it's published ahead of time.  You pretty much turn on the stateroom TV at game time and pray that the game you are interested in is being shown.

DH & I (long-suffering but still hopeful Dolphins fans) have sailed twice on Equinox during football season, and we were able to watch every game that aired during our sailings (3 games in total) at Craft Social.  Miami plays twice during our next Equinox cruise in October, 1:00 PM the first Sunday and SNF the second Sunday, so I’m fairly confident that they will air onboard.

Interesting.  So were all NFL games available or were you just lucky that the Dolphin games were televised?

Do you recall if those same games were available in you room or just in the bar?

TBH we did not stick around for any other games - it is a cruise after all 🙂  But Miami usually plays early, and Craft Social is pretty empty at 1:00 PM on Sunday, so maybe we just got lucky...

They will have the Sunday night and Monday night football games on……maybe Thursday as well. Otherwise, there are 2 games on on Sunday. We have sailed a few times during  football season and have always been able to see the Packers play. We have also been lucky enough to stream a few games.

I was at the Packers/49ers game last Friday and enjoyed watching the Packers Loose -Again to the 49ers.

We were on a Celebrity cruise in 2013 and were sailing from NZ to Tasmania on SB Sunday!

Celebrity made a Big Deal of decorating the Main Theater in Red (49ers) and Purple (Ravens) colors while showing the Game on the Big Screen Live. It was an Australian Broadcast with a lot of Fosters Beer commercials.  Gratas Drinks and X served all kinds of food.

I LOVED it but the NZ and AUS passengers didn't think much of it....

Bottom line is that unless your NFL team is playing on Sunday night, Monday night or maybe Thursday night or on the late Sunday afternoon game being shown to most of the USA, you have a very small chance of getting to watch your favorite team.

The Ideal NFL broadcast Onboard would be NFL RedZone so we could All see something with Our Favorite Team?

" SEVEN Hours of NFL football with No Commercials" well maybe some from their sponsor Amazon..............

Best football experience I ever had on Celebrity was when we watched the Super Bowl on a B2B Australia/New Zealand cruise in 2020. We didn’t care who won, KC or San Fran (we are Bills fans), but X put on a terrific spread in the movie theater. All the food and drink you could imagine; it’s was a very congenial sport bar experience with plusher seats.

We enjoyed the Super Bowl on a Celebrity Caribbean cruise 4 years ago. Only problem...when outside the USA you do not see the commercials!

Unless it has changed they air the game of the week for CBS and Fox on Sunday afternoon.  That means the Tony Romo feed for CBS and the replacement team for Fox.  Also Sunday and Monday night and they are aired in your cabin.

Yes and they also show an early Sunday game which is pretty much pot luck as to which one they choose.

It will be CBS or Fox.  My bet is Bengals Steelers at 1:00 on CBS and Chiefs Cardinals at 4:25 on Fox.
