Shareholder Credit Denied

I submitted a request for shareholder OBC on 8/23 and just received the response:

I booked the Plan Now, Sail Later rate which included OBC. When I do a mock booking for the same cruise, all of the rates include some sort of promotion or discount (room upgrade, OBC, reduced deposit).  Does anyone know which rates would qualify so I know for future reference?

Aren’t all rates technically a “Reduced Rate Promotion”? Does anyone actually pay the full listed fare / brochure rate? If they adhere strictly to the wording of the rules, no one would get the Shareholder Credit.

Not all are available to everyone. And, be careful what you wish for.

That's what my thought was.  If I'm not eligible, then I'll accept that, but it looks like everything has a promo attached to it so I'm slightly confused.

We paid $551 for the cabin, it wasn't free.  We paid the cabin fare plus the taxes.  There were no casino perks attached to it either.

How long did it take for them to deny your request?  Just wondering what their turnaround time is lately.  I’m still waiting to hear.

Yes, no one pays the full book rate.

Over the past several years whenever we were considering a Carnival cruise we were reminded about "Military" fares.  But every time we checked the promotional fare of the day was always less than the Military fare - so it never got used and we never received Shareholder credit. Not apples to apples but on a booked 14 day Princess cruise we have $250 Military credit, $250 Shareholder credit and received a discounted fare along with OBC from our TA.  We always check which works out better for us.

For our HAL cruise, turned in on Sunday at 7pm, received credit Monday at 2:30pm. We were amazed!

How much is the taxes and how many people?  If I am not mistaken, they charge you $200 but you get $200 OBC back, so the room is technically free.  I booked something similar and paid $489.72 with $200 OBC...

It was an interior cabin for 2.  Rate was $159 and $121.86 in taxes for each person.  It's technically free with the $500 OBC but the offer wasn't casino related.  The denial I got stated it was because I got a casino rate.

I told my son to buy the Carnival stock because of the shareholder benefit. Usually he books under a casino rate but his current cruise was booked as OV7. The cabin was basically the normal price but the rate included the $500 OBC. It was not a casino rate.  Now I am wondering if he will receive the shareholder benefit. We cruised in April with a cheap rate and we received our OBC. The prior cruise we had the Cheers package free, $600 OBC and we also received the shareholder benefit. Has anyone else cruised under the OV7 rate and received the OBC?

OV7 is a casino rate.  We have 2 cabins booked on an upcoming cruise on the Conquest, in an aft wrap (Vista Balcony) and the connected bowling alley balcony cabin (which Carnival prices as a regular balcony)..

The bowling alley balcony cabin was booked under the OV7 rate code, and includes a $500 OBC in my name as the lead guest. The aft wrap was booked under a different casino code in my wife's name that allowed the aft wrap to be booked at much cheaper than normal rate, with a $100 OBC.

In addition to the 2 lead guests, my daughter is currently listed as the 2nd guest in my wife's room, and my son in law as the second guest in my room....  I will be switching with my daughter once on board.

Had we listed either my daughter (currently VIP gold status) or her husband (never cruised before -- blue status) as the lead guest in either room, the cost of either cabin would have been much higher than what we paid, and would have only included $50 OBC for the corresponding cabin.

Another way you can tell if you are booked on a casino rate is by looking at the confirmation email you get when you book or when you make a payment or change on an existing booking.... You will see the following message on the cabin confirmation email in the "Guest Notes" section seen toward the bottom of the terms and conditions:  "A valid and qualifying VIFP number is required."

You may be mistaken because that sounds exactly like the casino offer! Yes, it may be listed in your VIPF offers but the $500 OBC is casino offer.

You could be right but my assumption was that it wasn't a casino based on the fact that it didn't say that anywhere in this description.  Oh well, I'm just excited to finally cruise!  🙂

We have a VIFP member number, but that still doesn't mean it's a casino rate.  I resent the shareholder OBC request, no answer yet.  I'll post again once I hear back from Carnival.
