Cheers offer - actually costs more than adding Cheers separately

Here is the situation I am booking the Vista out of Galveston at the end of July and was looking at my offers that Carnival sent.  I have 3 to choose from:

Plan now sail later (OV8) gives $200 obc price is $2,644.40

Fun for you (O1X)  gives $100 obc price is $2,644.40

Cheers to you (RU0) price is $3,734.40

so essentially they are charging me $1,090.00 for Cheers.  Where things are interesting is that if I add cheers on separately after booking (which is what I did) the cost for Cheers is $848.90 (including tax and grats) so bottom line by taking the plan now sail later offer and adding cheers I paid $3,493.30. saving $241.10 plus I got a $200 obc.

Shows you either need to do your research or have a good travel agent.

I agree you have to be diligent and check all the options. I do not know the details of any of these offers but my first thought was maybe they had different deposits or refundable/non-refundable differences. Or maybe no differences at all😂. Everyone just has to make sure to check everything and find the best deal for you. I’m ALL about finding the savings😉

There are differences, including deposit amounts.

only for the cheers to you the other 2 are the same with $99 non-refundable deposits and all other fine print is the same for this sailing.  with the cheers to you you have a higher deposit required

@Woody14..I just went through the same thing for our NYE cruise and came to the same conclusion you did...so I booked the Plan now Sail later option and will purchase the Cheers package separately. The higher deposit for the Cheers package option was irrelevant to me...it all has to be paid anyway.

I believe if you go back and look at the Cheers to You offer, it's is including the gratuities.

it included only the cheers part gratuities  and for comparison the 848.90 for cheers by itself also included the gratuities (base price was $719.40 plus grats)

I did the same thing.  I checked the prices of the different offers and added in the cost of Cheers.  I booked a casino offer and it saved me a lot more plus the OBC.  And deposit was only $100

oh yes all bets are off if you get casino offers, it's rare anything can beat them (besides better casino offers, lol)

RU0 is the worst of all CHEERS offers. I really wonder if anyone is crazy enough to book that rate code.

The best one is RU1.

I have an RU3 Cheers offer. The price difference between the lowest rate on my 8 day cruise and the Cheers package was only $400-ish when I booked. I believe the 8 days cheers with gratuities for 2 is about 1100 or so. I thought I did pretty good. Is the RU1 even better than that?

This is the first time I ever booked a Cheers package. I don't think I was ever offered a good enough deal before to actually take the deal.

my son gets this offer all the time and you are 100% correct. It's cheaper to buy the cheers package separately.

I guess they think we are all idiots.

I'm sure they've gotten people to book these cruises with RU0. Not everybody pays attention, unfortunately.

I’m actually surprised that nobody’s filed a class action lawsuit against Carnivals misleading Cheers package on us promotions.

We were lucky a couple of years ago and received the coveted RU1 offer, totally worth it because it worked out to about 50 per person.  But even that offer is deceptive because it still ain’t free!!!

Since then all we received were the RU9 offers which were a joke.

Then one day I received the RUO offer. I was excited thinking it had to be better than the RU1 only to find out it was worse than the RU9!!

I wonder how many people were tricked into paying more than they should have because of these deceptive practices Carnival is doing?

With RU1 I've seen the additional cost to a booking vary from $0 to $100 per person. So definitely the best offer.
