Ask on the boards for the other cruise lines if you think you will get a different answer.

Above someone stated that it's universal across all cruise lines, at least for the last 7 years.

I asked here because a lot of people on here cruise other lines as well

We've encountered one smoker smoking on their balcony a few years ago. Lucky for us and not for the smoker as they/he/she/it were in the cabin next to ours. One call to GS and that ended that.

Good for you!   The smoker we encountered the other day was two decks down and several cabins forward.  No way to tell which cabin he was in...but I would have called if I could have figured it out.

Quite common.

Hot box threads:

Smoking (now including Vaping)

Chair Hogs  (oink)  🐷

Dress Code (not much of an issue any longer...anything goes now)

Food/New menu (new to the group)

Elevator manners (lack of)

Feral Children  (Yes your precious snowflakes running wild all night)

I was out reading on our balcony when an excited security officer knocked on the door and rushed past my husband to catch me, except I'm a hardcore non-smoker. It was the guy in the next cabin. There is at least one crew member who takes this job very seriously. Never smelled it again and I tend to live on my balcony so I think he got the message.

Once the couple in the next cabin were both smoking and hanging over the balcony. I told them that smoking wasn’t allowed on balconies. They said they didn’t care and continued to smoke.  So I took a picture of them both smoking and calmly walked to GS. They didn’t smoke there again.

Another time the couple in the next cabin was smoking on the balcony, but nice enough to have an ashtray on the table. I didn’t even need to talk to them, just took a picture of the ashtray, went to GS, and within a few minutes they had a knock on the door.  They denied it was their ashtray…. They told security it was there when they boarded. They didn’t smoke there after that.

I don’t want a fire on a ship because someone decided they didn’t need to follow the rules. if people break that rule they should be escorted off the ship.  That would probably stop people from doing it.

I'm guessing this ban also includes the "Smokin' in the Boys room". 😆

They only time it might be allowed 😉 is on a 80's rock cruise.

Here we are in the Same Ol' Situation talking about smoking. I can only imagine the balcony neighbours giving some Looks that Kill.

Or we can do the "Lido Shuffle" (Boz Scaggs) as we try to avoid the approved smoking section on the Lido deck.

🕺  😉

Pat, I'm so stealing that term.

I liked that one too.

Imagine the quantity of responses you would get on this caption:

"Feral kids running amuck: delaying elevators, removing towels from chairs, and barefoot in MDR."

I tried to work in some of @island lady's hot items.  🤔

Cigarettes aren't the only thing you'll smell on the balconies on those cruises once Dr Feelgood shows up.

Personally, if someone next door is smoking I just lean over the rail and Shout at the Devil.

I think Deep Purple warned us about "Smoke on the Water" years ago! 🤣

Nice. If you take a ship out of BOSTON you better be ready for "smokin and tokin"

[Chorus]
Smokin', smokin'
We're cookin' tonight, just keep on tokin'
Smokin', smokin'
I feel alright, mamma I'm not jokin', yeah
