THE WORST CRUISE I'VE TAKEN and the RESPONSE FROM MSC.

You've mentioned this situation a couple of times. Please elaborate on the circumstances.  At its surface this scenario seems preposterous!  And I'm not saying it didn't happen but it just seems so random.  Why did you get downgraded?    Did they even offer to find you a YC room on another ship or future sailing with a similar itinerary?  I definitely would have taken the refund...and given MSC the middle finger.

Sinfonia was fully chartered for a group cruise. Ship never made it the USA so a few weeks before sailing they gave them the Divina.  Problem was many had Divina booked and many were given offers to move to other ships and given other perks to move.

Many did, I was not offered anything because under the contract I was entitled to a category upgrade which for me from Grand suite would mean Royal, so they made it miserable for me.

Let me add how miserable they were making it.  Not only was in downgraded with no fare reduction, but now I needed to buy a booze package and a wifi package.

Whole thing was to get me to cancel. We were told they will take care of me later. They have not.

It will continue for years and years till they make it right, so get some nausea medicine. You will need it.

I think most of us on here know of your single-minded determination.  I'm bad at showing my "surprised" look. 😯

How do you figure?

I took take every opportunity to warn new potential customers that they have the worst IT and customer service in the industry. I too hope someone hesitates to book because of my posting. I am not miserable at all. But I guess in all fairness the op was because of not meeting his expectations, mine is because of a couple of terrible things they did to me.

I also, like I did in this thread already brought to light the fact that this company does not care about customers and outright lies to them.

Do you think bumping someone who had a cruise booked for a year out of a yacht club grand suite to a regular balcony with no reduction in fare and no YC perks is good business? I was given the opportunity to cancel with no penalty a couple of weeks before.

We gave them the option to put me on another sailing of their choice on any 7 night sailing from a Florida port and they can give me only 48 hours notice in the next 5 months. No!

How about overcharging me $1000 just before sailing, just pay it so your booking doesn't get cancelled and we will correct it right after the sailing. Took 2 years and a big TA rep to intervene.

Great YC product but many things are lousy. I have 3 more MSC cruises in the next 3 months with one being 18 night in Saudi Arabia and then no more.

I think your response just proved my statement. Continuing to hold on to anger, telling everyone about how you were wronged and trying to destroy the one someone feels is responsible only makes that person bitter and does nothing to resolve the problem.

No company is perfect and MSC definitely isn’t even close.  If I have a bad experience with any company (or person), I choose to not to business with them in the future and move on, lesson learned. Some seem to sadly make it their life’s mission to get “even” and destroy the one they feel wronged them rather than moving on and enjoying new experiences.

If MSC is so terrible, I would not take  3 more cruises with them. I would just cancel and do something I enjoy.

You are the exact reason I keep bringing up what a horrible thing they do to passengers just to increase their bottom line.

Always check your booking as you never know when they will crap on you.

Actually, I DID just pull up my booking for August.  Everything looks to be in tact but our current reservation was made from a 30% off offer we received from the casino on our Mera cruise.  We used it to book a YC interior for a 7 nighter in the Caribbean.  I've read that since our booking, they no longer allow the 30% off vouchers to be used for YC bookings.  Looks like we got in under the wire but I keep checking our booking because as you have experienced, anything can happen.

They can fix it with ease. Just offer me a 7 night in a YC GS at the original price and we are good.

I don't need the upgrade.

How difficult would that be?

Seems a simple solution to shut me up.  It is all 100% factual.

I just read your link. I am actually the opposite because everytime I bring it up onboard they do something that I will not discuss here, but I am fine with it.

It makes me happy everytime. Who wouldn't want special perks or even a free Cabana.

I'm not convinced your postings are going to make anyone think twice because - despite your incessant posting about MSC's perceived wrongs against you - you keep harping on about how many cruises you've done with them and how many more you have booked!  So, what your posts actually demonstrate (other than that some people just can't let things go), is that despite some IT and customer service quirks, MSC offer excellent cruises at a very reasonable price for those who are willing to accept those weaknesses (and it's hard to find one cruise line on these boards that isn't criticised regularly for IT and customer service failings) and recognise that they will not get a typical US cruise experience from MSC.

The op tried it -- didn't like it -- he won't be returning.

He hopes his warnings will cause MSC to lose some business.

Truthfully, it won't...and even if it did, someone else will cruise in their place.

Thank you for the letter, I love reading things that didn't go right, it just makes me feel lucky I haven't experienced that.  Side note: my first NCL cruise wasn't the greatest, but I gave them another chance and enjoy sailing on them.  I take a vacation for what it is, not being at work and enjoy it as much as I can.  If I don't like the meal, I look for something else to eat.  Life is too short to mull over all the bad stuff...

Side Side note -- saw a TV series on Regent cruise lines -- WOW -- but mega $$$ plus for fun they play ring toss? Not for me....    The show is "THE MOST LUXURIOUS CRUISE SHIP IN THE WORLD"

As long as the staffs keep changing on your MSC cruises, you are good to go. By the time you finish 'milking' this grievance you will have 'cajoled' the equivalent of a complimentary cruise with all the perks they offer you as compensation on board. I hope you tip accordingly.

There is/was a guy on the RCCL boards that had a similar reputation for complaining called Andy. Every cruise he found something to complain about and received in return a voucher for $300- $400 for a future cruise depending on the category he booked. Complaining can be a profitable endeavor.

Reminds me of a neighbor from years ago. Every time I saw him he was telling me a story about how he got a free meal and coupons for a future meal by complaining at a restaurant. He did this everywhere he went and told everyone he came in contact with. Needless to say that I, and most everyone else in the neighborhood, avoided him if at all possible.

Constantly complaining may be “profitable” by getting a few free items, but it’s definitely not profitable to one’s well being, mental health or social life, especially when it is the same issue over and over.

Thanks, but even while he has bad re-venting days, MSCDivina2016 still has moments where pearls of wisdom are offered.  I hope that could be said of all of us....Even the sarcastic Irish! ☺️

MSC is a privately owned multi billion dollar shipping and cruise company who doesn't have to answer to shareholders
What does that mean for us the consumer? They don't care about your grievances or mine.

You would think it would be completely the opposite.

I think they’re too big to sweat the small stuff.

I mean if getting caught with a billion dollars worth of drugs on their ship(s) hasn’t hurt their business, complaint letters like the OP sent definitely won’t.
