Drinks in your room

Sailing next April on the Encore to Alaska. We like the idea of having a glass of wine or two on our balcony. Other than room service or the stocked fridge (mini bar) how do you get drinks to have in your cabin?

You hop down (or up) to the bar nearest your cabin, get a glass (or two) of wine and bring them back to your balcony.  Whenever we are headed back to the room anyway we try to remember to pick up a drink for later on.  That way we don't even have to make a special trip.

Welcome to Cruise Critic!

If you have the beverage package, you can bring as many bottles of wine onboard with you as you can hand carry with no corkage fee (they can not be in your checked luggage).

You can buy bottles of wine at restaurants or The Cellar wine bar and take it to your room (discounted if you have the beverage package).  Or take leftover bottles from dinner back to your room.

If you are a top tier casino player, you can get 3 complimentary bottles of wine sent to your room.

You can go to any bar and get 2 glasses of wine at a time. Take them back to your room, pour them into an empty water bottle, repeat.

==============

Your stateroom minifridge has no alcohol. Just a few bottles of water for purchase.

NCL provides a drinks service where you can order drinks and have them delivered. Basically a mini-bar delivery service. Drinks from this service are not included in the Beverage Package.

As per Birdtravel post > I thought there was a $10 corkage fee?

As Bird says, there's no corkage if you have a beverage package. Think it's $15 corkage if you don't have a beverage package.

Is this new or has it always been? Can't believe I missed this on prior cruises! 😣

It's relatively new if you last cruised NCL more than a year ago. I don't remember the exact date that it went into effect. Maybe it was summer 2022?

We cruised over NYE this past year so we did miss out on that one.  Will definitely keep in mind for the next.  Thanks!

Thanks for sharing! I didn’t even know this was a thing. Is this separate from room service or is this what they’re calling it now? I see drinks and snacks but not full meals, so I’m guessing it’s not exactly room service.

I wish this were included in the beverage package (I upgraded us to Premium Plus to reduce extra charges since the hubs and boy are a little bougie with their alcohol). Are there any classes that include SWIFT for no extra charge? Perhaps Haven? 😉 You would think after what we are paying to enjoy our vacation we could get pampered a tiny bit.

Take your key card and leave your room and go to the closest Open Bar. Get  two drinks and return to your room. Bon Voyage!

It is relatively new (since the restart).

But, personally, I would still not be schlepping around bottles of wine if I have "paid" for a beverage package. I am going to drink whatever I get for free for the week.

This is separate from the Room Service menu.

No free delivered alcohol unless you are in a deluxe owners suite with your 3 free bottles of alcohol.

We would pass on the drink package in lieu of ordering a bar setup for our room. Not sure if they still have this. It is way pricey but since it's cheaper and more convenient then the drink package. Your liquor choice from a list they have will be in your cabin when you arrive. It can be a challenge to have enough ice however.

If the bar setup is still available you will need to order it BEFORE

you board. Call NCL and inquire.  I like making my own drinks in my cabin the way I like them.

We would order a glass of wine here and a beer there and pay for that will obc.
