Thanks for sharing, that is the same post I saw last week.  It's terrible that the ship chose to sign it from "Your Rooms Division Steward" as they had nothing to do with this "temporary" shutdown.  I hope folks who aren't happy with this change don't take it out on their steward.  They deal with enough already.

That would make for some pretty hefty menus given what one could order on the TV or the phone. Multitudes of drinks and the ability to "somewhat" customize orders of food would make it cumbersome and keeping it current would be next to impossible.

They should supply the room stewards with printed menus...

Before app ordering or TV ordering we got room service menus in our cabin on every cruise so it IS possible.

I am currently on the Crown Princess. My bed is fine, Sabatini dinner last night was perfection. Every bite, fabulous service.

Today when I went to order something from room service, I couldn't find any menus on the TV. I called Room Service on the phone. They were polite and offered me the usual list of room service items that I know about. When I asked where to find the list on the TV, they told me I could use the app, but I explained, I don't have a smart phone (full disclosure).  They told me I could chat with Guest Services, or dial 6000.

When I went to the GS desk, I chatted with two staff members. They also suggested I use the app. But they also agreed that I should be able to see a print version of the offerings, somewhere. They also knew that this has been suspended. Not there, not on the TV! Imagine my surprise and dismay. Things change. In an instant.

I am reporting this here as my first hand experience of what happened today. The official roll of the new plans for this ship starts on August 15th...

So after all of the speculation here on using the TV, as before, to order room service, I can tell you today, there are no menus to be found there.

I am only the messenger.

I ended up going to have chicken korma for lunch in the dining room after all and enjoyed the korma and some lively conversation.

I am also on the crown now.  I agree bed is great, Sabatini’s great.  I am able to access menus on my tv’s.  The ship is in great condition and the crew is fantastic as always.

You say "tv's" rather than "tv." are you in a suite or reserve class mini? What I'm wondering is if that might make a difference.

Yes, in a suite.  Maybe that’s it?

Who can tell? That was the only possibility I could see as to why you could order from the tv and the other folks couldn't. Maybe some others in suites will weigh in.

I will try ordering from tv again later to see what happens today.  Yesterday I did get a pizza delivered that I ordered from tv.  I will try to ask someone that is in the know.

Have they confirmed that with the new changes if you order MDR to the suite that you will be charged the $5 or do you have one of the pkgs?

No one seems to really know.  The “concierge” is supposed to check in with me later this week.  I will ask her if she knows one way or the other.

Curious you mentioned a concierge on the Crown.  Where are they located on the ship since there is no concierge lounge for suites.  Will be on the ship in a suite and very interested to find out about this.  Thanks in advance for any info.

They have an officer assigned to you that contacts you.  She came to the room on embarkation day and introduced herself.  She arranged some specialty dining reservations for me since the app never worked for me.  She gave me her extension and told me to call if I needed anything.  She was great and said she will check in occasionally or I can call.  They had the same arrangement on the Grand a fee months ago.  There is no lounge .

I'm glad to hear the beds are good.  They must have recently replaced the mattresses.

Thank you for the concierge information.  I knew there was no lounge sadly, which we will definitely miss.  Utilized it quite a bit on the Discovery.  Appreciate your information about this.  Your post was the first I've seen about them having anyone on the ship as a concierge.  Will definitely look forward to meeting the officer assigned to this.

A couple of days ago I saw a post on another forum with a picture of a letter the OP received while aboard.  It said something to the effect that all Ocean Now features were being removed from the TV - temporarily.  My first thought of course was that this wasn't temporary and that's why Princess said nothing in the FAQs (or on the TA webinar) about what happens re: charges if you order through the TV.  I'm guessing that this feature won't return.

I suspect that they are making changes associated with the new charges and that they will return once those changes are made.

We have never had a concierge on any Grand Class ships in full suites.  Is this new. Or maybe part of the new changes?   If so why don’t they tell us
I haven’t seen any info on how the new changes will affect the full suite passengers,(Room Service)who can order anything from the Main Dining Room menus (as a suite perk) for breakfast, lunch or dinner.    Getting those menus from our room guy is sometimes a challenge.  It was never posted early enough on the TV,  when we were on the Crown, last April.   In fact our room steward tried to find it on the TV, but couldn’t.
     If anyone knows please post

Have had this on the last 5 cruises.  3 on the Grand, one on Ruby, and this one on Crown.
Eta.  All full suites

I don’t think it was advertised. Just some guests were told that the Grand Class ships would have their own concierge (no lounge) starting in June.
Definitely ask. The concierge, if there is one, should introduce themselves, if you’re in a full suite.

If it started in June then I see why.  We have not sailed since April of this year.  Do love the way they escort you to your room when embarking on the Grand Princess.   Have been on the Grand @ least twice since post Covid.

What months were those

Since the restart.  Long before June as some one else reported.  Started at least a year ago.  Have been on the newer ships with concierge lounge which is superior, but having a specific person to advocate for us has been great!

ETA:  looking back at cruise history, ad aearly as March 2022 on the Grand
