Extend your stay $89 - Retreat - Eclipse - Singapore

Has anyone done this?  Are any food options available to you or do you sit by the pool and read?  It shows on the planner at 2pm.  Is that when you leave?  But it does say “leave 1 hour before sailing”.

 

It looks like you can book a Spa treatment, extra cost I assume and arrange private transportation to airport or hotel.

 

My other option was to book a city tour and a nice dinner somewhere before a late return flight.

Such a timely post.  We have a late flight after our Alaska cruise.  Is this available on all cruises?  Where did you see this in the planner?

some of mine show it while others don't, think it's under 'VIP Passes'. I haven't done it but that's because I don't have late flights or going on to another city. I do believe Charla did it for her Italy trip.

 

I believe there was a new card for that time period and food/drinks available if I remember her review correctly

I think each may be slightly different, this is the one for my July cruise for Retreat

 

 While unwinding with a pre-booked massage at the Spa, relaxing by the pool, or staying in touch with your loved ones with your internet package, you can enjoy a refreshing selection of drinks or savor a delightful cup of coffee from your Classic Non-Alcoholic Beverage Package. 

 

Important details and advisements

• Guests will have access to all public lounges and the pool deck.
• Minibar service is not included in this program.
• Please note that no exit and re-entry to the ship will be permitted on departure day.
• Access to your room is until 8:30 am on departure morning.
• This program includes the transfer to the London Heathrow Airport at 2pm.

My understanding is it isn't available in US ports.   Seen it in many European and Asian ports.   When we did it you had full access to the ship -  Al Bacio was open during and after B2B processing and once Ocean View was flipped over to lunch (just before boarding begin around 11:00 ) in OVC, Pool Grill and Luminae when opened.  

 

I don't know about Alaska hopefully someone on an Alaska Cruise could advise.

They always open Luminae for lunch on embarkation -  Many suite guest go direct to Retreat after boarding.   On almost all cruises i've been on - Luminae opens for lunch at 11:30 until approximately 2:00.    On turn around day they are also open from 6:30 - 8:00.

 

When we did a stay aboard we could stay on the ship until  1 hour  30 minutes prior to departure.    There were also many TA that came aboard for a tour and lunch.    When time to leave the ship an announcement was made.

Oh.  You definitely want to get off of the ship in Singapore.  It is one of the highlights of your stay!  I would add an extra couple of days or more in Singapore!  Singapore is the best port on your cruise IMHO.  A nice 5 star hotel on the beach in Bali would be second.  The only regret of my cruise was that I did not spend more time in Singapore...  Gardens by the Bay is a must see.

We chose to book a "day stay" at an airport hotel, which allowed exploration of the amazing airport facilities, lunch with complimentary wine, time to rest and to freshen up before our late flight.

We had been to Singapore previously for a few days each time and had visited many of the "must see" places.

Absolutely get off the ship as early as you can. And stay a couple of days if you can. Singapore is one of the jewels of SE Asia. And it is SO easy to DIY. Find somewhere to stash your bags and then get out and explore. Gardens by the Bay is a unique experience. The Botanical garden is one of the most beautiful I've ever seen. Have a Singapore Sling where it was invented at the Raffles Hotel bar. You can indulge in a fancy (and expensive) dinner in the Marina Bay Sands, or have really great Thai food at a hawker center. Get to the airport early. You won't believe that place til you see it.

I’d be interested to know the name of that hotel?  I don’t know how many airport hotels there are.

 

We spend a few days in Bali with family so we really don’t have much time for Singapore.  We have been there previously although we didn’t see the whole city.

I use Extend Your Stay at the end of most cruises as its perk with zenith status.

You have to sign off like you do with the b2b process and hand in your sea pass card, you get a visitor card as a replacement for the time you remain on board. You also get wifi access for the duration and you can have soft drinks along with food from the Ocean view.

 

Your luggage will go off as normal (pit out the night before) and will be in a specific area in the terminal waiting for when you depart. They tend to like all those staying on to leave the ship by 2pm latest, and it's always a good idea to have a day bag if you chose to use the pools etc and then use the changing areas to shower etc prior to disembarking.

 

One thing I would stress is this is not currently available worldwide due to immigration issues and a lot of countries like the ship to have a "zero" count before starting the next cruise, therefore you have to get off the ship and only be allowed back on when boarding starts for the next cruise, by this time EYS is not worth it, and therefore not offered by the ship.

Well my partner prefers to get off the ship ASAP so who do you think gets to decide?

 

I think a visit to the “gardens” (?) may be interesting.

 

However we did an all day excursion after our last cruise and he did not enjoy it as much.  So I need to come up with some good ideas.

As mentioned above,  Changi airport has some on-site transit hotels. Try to get a day room there, then spend several hours touring the Jewel at the airport. They say at least 3 hours. I Plan to do on trip to Singapore.

It actually caused me pain to see someone considering to continue stay on the ship vs seeing Singapore. You won’t even remember the last day from any other day on the ship, you will remember Singapore.  So much to see, do and eat, they have street food that’s Michelin starred, several items for $10 USD or less.  The airport has early baggage drop for most airlines (research yours) and the MBS casino has free (unless they changed it) luggage storage even if you drop off your luggage and immediately leave without gambling

In Alaska they need to zero out the ship before new passengers can board, so they won't offer the Extended Stay.
