Donna Summer removed from Prima?

Recommended Posts

that would be kind of quick for the closing down of the prima's signature entertainment. my best guess is it's a technical snafu with the booking engine. it happens quite frequently.

typically, they would announce the removal of a show several months in advance.

then again, it's NCL and anything could happen. but i doubt the show would be closing on such short notice.

It was removed from booking on my app, ahead of the November, 2023 Transatlantic. We were able to book when getting onboard.

Is this the type of "removal" you mean?

I know it varies based on what you're looking for, but a removal of Donna Summer would not be a loss. I made it through less than 45 minutes of the show before leaving.

I can't say I am super excited about the show, but it is better than nothing (or game shows).  I looked at it multiple times and talked to a rep and they didn't know why it was not available to book.  Now it doesn't even show up as an option.

I was happily surprised at my reception to Price is Right. I went there, because we had nothing else to do that evening. The first ten minutes, I thought I was in the Hunger Games with how fake and polished everything is...then it turned me. I truly enjoyed the game! And thankfully, was NOT called. I wish there were a way to denote that you do not want to be called. No way that I could figure out.

So, I became an audience member in the Hunger Games. And enjoyed it! A lot more than Donna Summer.

Cruise Critic Hunger games. Now that's an idea for main theater entertainment. Or Cruise Critic Jeopardy. I'll take tipping for $500 please.

It's no longer showing on our April 5 cruise.  We did not see it on our last Prima due to reviews we had read here.

I’m on the cruise with you! I saw the show already in December. I loved it.

Might I present 🫣 the magical disappearance 🫢 - well, saw it once last November onboard.  At a loss for words at the moment - is it or is it not 😳🙄🙀

Perhaps ... 😬 😷 oh, nevermind 🤔

Let's just wait for the "official announcements" - withheld and forthcoming since last November, shall we 😳   Go with the flow, plenty of other "things" to do on long sea days ...

This is the 2nd time NCL has pulled this crap on me! Last year the removed Kinky Boots the week before my cruise and now this on a cruise I literally booked this week for mid-April. I travel solo and spend tons of money with upgrades but one of the only things I look forward to are the live performances and now NCL has ruined two of my vacations. Last year not only did they pull Kinky Boots but they couldn't dock in the Dominican Republic. Terrible cruise and now I'm heading back and it starting out just like last year...

Oh they also canceled Swimming with the Pigs & I wasn't able to do the Sea Lions due to not being able to dock. Total bust of a cruise when alone. All I did was eat, drink and gamble for an entire week...

I am sailing on the same cruise and also noticed the removal of Donna Somer show. I called NCL and they don't have any idea why it has been removed. Also I wanted to try to get Vibe tickets and as with all the entertainment none of them can be booked/reserved.

Well, that’s the new entertainment!  Watch as The Donna Summer Show disappears…it’s the new Magic Show.  Yay!

Yes, I called NCL Casino at Sea and they too have no idea why it was removed. The man I spoke with said the show was still showing on his end. Fingers crossed... I purchased the top tear alcohol package, the thermal suite pass and 8 specialty dining dinners. All I could book was three dinners - Le Bistro, Los Lobos & Food Republic. This is my 7th cruise with NCL and it just seems to be getting harder to plan and very limited options. NOT TO MENTION CANCELING SHOWS!!!

Glad I've already seen the show twice and Donna Summer live before she disappeared!

Actually, I liked the show.  I liked the biographical entertainment, and I’m sorry others won’t know her story.  My comment was more satirical around NCL downgrading nightly entertainment.

donna summer was removed from the prima?

wait! what?

did she have a 15 year old unaccompanied minor in the room across the hall from her?

or did she try to decorate her door?

which transgression did she commit?

I bought the same drink package and dinning.  I was lucky enough to get the four dinners however 3 of them are at 9pm or later.  I was able to get Le Bistro, Cagney's, Onda, and Palomar.

You can adjust your dinners once you are on board.

You actually have to opt in to being selected by going to the box office the afternoon of the show.  I ended up getting chosen on my cruise.

ok, im sure i'll get d**ned and blasted for this post, but here goes (1) donna summer has been dead for years (2) disco has been dead for years (3) unlike some other major artists that have come before, and whose music is timeless, dont you think she' slightly passe?  can  you name 5 of her songs (did she even have that many)

believe me, i do not mourn the cancellation of her show.

the show was part of a season ticket package we always buy in los angeles, and we didnt even bother to try and give away the tickets. 3rd row left center

a few years ago on the bliss the shows were jersey boys and six. having seen jersey boys a few times in the past, we walked out (frankie valli he ain't) while we loved six.

prior posts have d**ned 6 and praised jersey boys to the heavens. even if donna wasnt cancelled, i'd probably not bother to see it.

This really doesn't sound like "total bust."

Welcome to CC.  Maybe weigh in one way or another on the ...diminished experience.... thread.

Probably not the place for this, but I thought JB was so-so on my recent Bliss cruise.  I was on one of the last that had SIX and I thought the first night was EXCELLENT, the second night was good but not as good as the first (and I said as much when I took a pic in front of the stage with two of the cast members that were in the first night but had the second off)
