Club Royale GTY question

Recommended Posts

With Club Royale I received a “free” cruise on the Allure.  As part of the offer, they gave me additional casino credits if I booked a guaranteed ocean view balcony.  The cruise is about 30 days out and the room has not been formally assigned.  I can see the room number with the apple wallet trick. I have a connecting room on deck 14 right under the hot tub on deck 15.  I am not sure I want to be under the hot tub with possible related noise while sitting on the balcony.  Will they let me switch rooms before it is formally assigned? If I switch rooms (and move to an non-connected ocean view balcony), will they remove the casino credit?

It's a complete guess as to whether they will allow you to switch rooms or not.  Some have had success, others have not.  You will just have to try and see.  I'm sure you're already aware that if they do allow you to change your stateroom you will have to choose the exact same cabin category in order to keep your pricing.  I wouldn't think that this change would affect your OBC/freeplay but you just never know !

Good luck !

Terms & Conditions with the GTY via Club Royale may be different, and I can't speak to that from any direct experience.  But I do know from direct experience that once a normal GTY stateroom is assigned, depending on how it was booked, you can contact RCCL directly or through your travel agent and they can move you to any other available stateroom location as long as it is within the assigned category and sub-category.  Have done this a couple of times.

From my experience booking GTY cabins using a casino offer usually doesn’t give you flexibility because by the time your cabin is assigned, there are no more casino cabins available. Being stuck in a loud cabin is not fun in my book. For that reason alone I no longer use any casino offers that only include GTY cabins. And for what it’s worth, I don’t use casino offers that only provide for one comped person per cabin (i.e. you have to pay for the second person in the cabin).

I guess I've never even heard of a casino comp offer for a GTY room.  It must be something new.

First time I had it offered as well.  The flyer offered an ocean view balcony where I could pick my room.  When I called about four months ago to book they said they would give me several hundreds of dollars as casino credit if I booked a guaranty.  Seemed like a no brainer.  Hopefully, there won't be that much noise from the hot tub as it seems to be semi-enclosed with windows...

I used a casino offer and booked a room for April 27 on the beyond, the ship only had one high end suite left (still available) or an oceanview guarantee, so I took the guarantee oceanview room, still waiting to hear assignment of our cabin.

This is timely.  I have just started seeing the guarantee cabin offers.  We usually upgrade to a suite.  How does that work?  Can you apply the guarantee cost to the upgrade or are you just out of luck about upgrading?

You can call the casino number and pay to upgrade or try to Royal Up (RU won't work for interior to suite though).  My wife gets GTY stateroom offers, and she'll call and pay for the upgrade to Balcony.  We have done about 10 comped interior rooms so far and have never stayed in an interior.

I can’t speak for Club Royale, but, speaking from experience, I do know that you cannot switch cabins if you decipher the GTY cabin number.  It will not show up as assigned in Royal’s system, and if you call, they’ll tell you they can’t do anything until it’s officially assigned.

For what it's worth I have been on Freedom of the Seas in a balcony cabin directly under one of the cantilever hot tubs and we heard nothing, no noise from above.

What’s the trick?

Load the sea pass card in your apple wallet.  It will show the cabin number as the last set of numbers under the bar code.

I did ask about possibly paying for the upgrade and they said I could but that I would lose the GTY credits.  Since it is such a short cruise (4 nights) I thought the credits made more sense to me than paying for a JS upgrade.  Basically, they are paying me to go on the cruise.....
