Icon of the seas - Live (ish) - 5/18-5/25

Technology wise, great show. Compared to other oasis class shows, like aqau 80, no where near as good. They ended with skateboarders, like, how dumb. 20240518_224516.thumb.jpg.49e99252f84c45c7c8f28420f610a0b8.jpg20240518_225302.thumb.jpg.57888fae7782160207f90d91989fdd64.jpg20240518_225634.thumb.jpg.1eed29c02cfdc59709d96e0d9bbe8605.jpg20240518_230512.thumb.jpg.2fc1b5ec45ab5107c21c6dae857cbe16.jpg

Speaking of which, do you have a total count for this cruise?

From reading other live blogs, crowding the different pool areas.

went to the windy J for dinner. I wish every windjammer in the royal fleet had the selection and quality as icon.. You can definitely tell they allow for more money into their big money maker. Food was delicious and so many good desserts. I normally skip dessert on Royal because they usually suck, not today lol.

Definitely jealous of this. I have little interest in the ship itself but I know I’d enjoy that WJ, the new included food venues, and trying new drinks.

Hi everyone. I wasn't going to do a live trip report, and I still may not keep it very live, but, currently in the air on the way down to Miami via Delta. We board icon tomorrow and we can't wait! I'll try to keep it live as much as possible, but, new ship and all, I may lose track of updating continuously.

A little about us.. My wife and I are in our 30s, no kids, and recently turned Diamond Plus this year. We make full use of Royals casino program. We cruise as much as possible. I believe we have 8 cruises booked through the casino for 2024, from. Icon, to Wonder, to Utopia b2b late August.

This cruise, we're in an oceanview balcony from the casino program fully comped with I believe $500 in free play. We likely won't play much in the casino this trip just because of so much more going on to experience.

Pictures and more will start tomorrow! We're so excited for this ship! We also have Empire Supper club booked for night 4. Let's go!! Snapchat-1751769823.thumb.jpg.8f96f150ea02f416cb790f293880f7ab.jpg

Keep us posted and enjoy! We head out in August!

@colesc15 Very random question I have.  I have yet to see the elevator and exits doors (inside and on the jogging track) to/from Absolute Zero.  Could you post some pics, if you have time?

You bet!

Got out here around 8:45 and plenty of spots to choose from back here at Hideaway. Pool itself opens at 9. This vide will do for the day! 20240519_084654.thumb.jpg.37522551f846b3ea8147bf7aa9d8b22a.jpg

Currently people are saying they don't have power. We've basically come to a stop. At Hideaway and there's no propulsion. Haven't heard any announcements yet. There was black smoke billowing from one of the stacks a bit ago.

Power is back on in our cabin but we're not moving.

Captain just made an announcement the ship did lose power and all elevators and ac etc were impacted, however they were able to restore it. We still aren't moving however.

Captain announced power has been restored. He said it effected all systems on the ship including elevators. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Hideaway got too packed, and too hot with no wind or shade, so we found 2 comfy chairs in Cloud 17. You can faintly hear the main pool band but otherwise, quiet and the chairs are extra padded. The small pool up here is busy but still has space.

Still don't think we started moving again yet though. 20240519_130642.thumb.jpg.d6031caeffc630928677bd63d66b4195.jpg

Mm, tequila 20240519_142733.thumb.jpg.4128d6a240b2fe408366330977caf2ee.jpg

Really liking cloud 17. The chairs are so comfy and has some shade and some sun. Close to the bar and plenty of servers. And a nice breeze. Life is good.

Related to my tequila post. I'm fairly confident all the new shaped glasses specific to icon are smaller than the traditional shaped ones on all other ships and hold much less for the same price.

Old ones on all other royal ships Screenshot_20240519_143418_Photos2.jpg.f56f00bb5a7567be2cc649ce0133212e.jpg

Main pool and surfside pool been shut down for the last hour two for the remainder of the day because of vomit or poop. We were in Cloud 17 pool as one of the only remaining ones open (Hideaway, cloud 17 and swim and tonic) and lifeguard had to call his supervisor arguing with a lady who had a baby in a diaper in the pool and wouldn't leave.

Supervisor came and argued and eventually left but the lady and baby remained in the pool but he was writing stuff down, so who knows. People suck.

That takes guts to argue with supervisor and refuse. Security should have stepped in.

BTW I was on 2 weeks ago and the ship did a test of power off and back on and all was well

sorry to hear pools closed and it is happening on almost daily basis.

i am in no hurry to go back to Icon

It was definitely bizarre. On the pool deck you didn't notice much other than the smoke stack billowing black smoke from the generator. I noticed it mostly because we were at Hideaway and noticed there was no make wake trail. Then I heard people talking about the power outage and the announcements at the Flow rider had stopped. Then the captain made his announcement. After about a half hour, all seemed back to normal.

Funny, some time ago I posted that I thought RCI was using smaller glasses than they used to. So now they have done it again?
