Marijuana use in Canada while on cruise

Since you can't have marijuana on the ship, where would someone get the weed to smoke? (Or gummies to eat)

There are several government run NSLC cannabis stores in Halifax. Joseph Howe Dr, Young street and Clyde Street off the top of my head but I’m probably missing one or two more.

Most everywhere you can legally buy cannabis you cannot smoke it in public. And no if you get caught bringing it on board you will probably be put off

Perhaps you should stay clear of generalizing on this topic; in Ontario, this is the law:

Where is it legal to smoke or vape cannabis?

The new Act makes it legal to smoke and vape cannabis in the following places:

  • Private residences
  • Many outdoor public places (e.g. sidewalks, parks)
  • Guest rooms in hotels, motels and inns designated as smoking rooms
  • Residential vehicles and boats that meet certain criteria (e.g. have permanent sleeping accommodations and cooking facilities, and are parked or anchored)
  • Scientific research and testing facilities (if the cannabis use is for scientific research and testing purposes)
  • Controlled areas in:
    • long-term care homes
    • certain retirement homes
    • residential hospices
    • provincially-funded supportive housing
    • designated psychiatric facilities or veterans’ facilities

Princess does not care what you do off the ship. What you do on shore is between you and the local Government. But it is definitely against the Princess Passage Contract to bring any of it back on board.

This would be similar to an 18-year old drinking alcohol on a Caribbean cruise. It is legal in some ports. Princess does not care if the 18-year old drinks it on shore where it is legal, but the 18-year old would violate the Passage Contract if trying to bring alcohol back onboard the ship.

That is why I used the term “MOST”

Princess does not care what you put in your body while you’re in port, as long as you don’t bring anything onto the ship. People getting snarky and trying to turn this into a controversial thread should probably follow you to the dispensary so they can lighten up.

Depending upon where else you have stops, weed is legal in Massachusetts and Maine. Fairly easy to find dispensaries with friendly workers. A couple things to keep in mind; you’ll need government Id and American cash to buy. And technically it’s against the law to consume in a public space or at a dispensary. I can’t say about Maine, but you are unlikely to get in any trouble in Massachusetts if you exercise some discretion. .

That's true... how is smoking marijuana anything like drinking beer in a pub?

Because both are legal and no one should care what you do if it is legal.

Quit trying to make an argument over this.

I don’t know of any motel, hotel or inn that provides smoking guests rooms.  If you try to smoke it on the street and especially in a park around kids you’ll hear about it pretty quickly.  We don’t care about the cannabis, we care about the second hand smoke from that or cigarettes.  The other areas mentioned don’t apply to the general public.  Again, if you want to smoke anything, find a remote spot away from other people and be respectful.

I don't smoke at all; simply provided the facts on what's permissible in the province.

I believe (not positive, so please put down the flame throwers) that it is maritime rather than just cruiseline, and the cruiseline is following that guide.

The maritime law. There is none in international waters.
