NCdazz-The compazine is for after you get sick. It does not prevent it so you only take it IF you are ill. As Kelly said, I never leave home without it. But if you get really sick I would not hesitate to go to the ship's doctor if all else fails. It is worth whatever they charge to get relief. Talk to your doctor and take his advice. I am lucky to have had the same doc for years who knows me well so he keeps me covered while on cruises.

I may be able to help there! If you have done the patch and that works for you (other than the possible side effects) I think you will be much happier with the Bonine. The chewables are fast acting, just start taking them the night before your cruise to get it in the system. They recommend you take it at night first and that may help with drowsiness however I have never noticed any!! NOW to attempt to avoid a trip to the ships Doc and that's pending you are very prone to seasickness, may I recommend a trip to your family physician-explain to him your plans and ask him to write you a perscription for compazine (a perscription anti nausea med). If you go to the ships Doc you are most likely to get a shot of the SAME thing but you will pay a WHOLE lot more

:)

Compazine is a very strong medication that has multiple side effects some of which are long lasting. You should be tested for your reaction to this drug before taking it. Certainly don't take it for the first time on a cruise ship without emergency facilities. One of the side effects is lockjaw, dry mouth and extreme fatigue. Just be careful.

Nice shot of the Vehicle Assembly Building in the background there! Looks like a really clear day! Wow could you even imagine being lucky enough to see a shuttle launch on your day in port!

it should come in various dosages..and there is NO medication that does NOT have any side effects..these have to be listed by law and are in the most severe cases which are usually few and far between...a visit to your Doc will answer any questions and should clear up any confusion..don't let this scare you :)

I am not trying to scare anyone but I have seen many, many reactions to this drug, even in the lowest dosage. It is a much stronger anti-nausea drug than the bonine or scopalamine patches. It is usually used for post-operative nausea or the nausea from chemo. Again not trying to scare anyone but as I said before, just be careful

Anyone with a super-zoom digital camera (10x optical or better), while sailing from Port Canaveral, can get a great closeup of the Assembly Buildings at the Space Center shooting from the rail of the ship. Depending on the haze (you are pulling in a picture from miles away) you can get a fairly decent shot. And if you have a digital effect on the camera, the image will nearly fill the screen (at the trade-off of lowered quality, of course.)

Hello everyone...We are heading steadily toward Baltimore...Our speed is 22kts...We are north of the SC and NC State line. The weathere is dark and cloudy, but no rain.... The seas are a bit choppy todayWe should reach Cape Henry (Near VA Beach) to pick up the Pilot, then up the Chesapeake Bay....

I have been invited for a Bridge Tour with the Captain...Later this morning. I will be sure to take lots of pics....

Today..the shops will be packed, and the Casino very Busy. They are have a Cooking Demonstration now in the Centrum, and the Parade of Flags will follow.

I will try to pack before dinner...and I should have a cell connection by 11PM.

I will be debarking late tomorrow....I don't like the rush of passenegrs getting off the ship. but I can understand why they want to get off....I just relax in the Viking Crown Lounge...and leave the ship as late as possible.....

More pics later

Radio, you have done a superb job for the cruisecritic crowd!!! Thank you and I am so excited to be going on the GOS in a few short weeks!

Thanks, thanks, thank, to everyone for the info on seasickness. I have always done the patch, so I don't know how seasick I really get  . Obviously the patch works really well!!! (But it makes me blind!)

I just want to use something different this time. I'm definitely going to try the bonine (every 12 hrs, thanks wrkfire :) ) and if anyone thinks I need to take along something else, I'll surely consider that too!! Nothing worse than being sick when you're trying to have fun.

Hello everyone...Our last day at sea has been the roughest yest....No Rain...But the ship is way up and way down... I will try to post some photos tomorrow morning.

The bridge tour with the Captain was very very informative.... We spent about 1/2 hour in the Bridge just before the Noon Announcement.

(pics tomorrow)

The seas should calm down once we get to the Tidewater Area (Around 10-11PM)

We should be docked tomorrow by 7AM...The passenegers that will be boarding for Bermuda are in for a treat. The Grandeur of the Seas is everything you would like a cruise ship to be... She is graceful, beautiful, enjoyable with a Nautical Essence.

This has been a great cruise, and all whou sail her will love her !

I love to do trip reports, and postings for Cruise Critic... and I hope everyone has enjoyed travelling along.

I will review the trip report, and answer any remaining questions that I have missed.

Thanks for tuning in....

Almost as good as the real thing....no it's not, but you know what I mean. :p

Aside from the production shows, who are the featured entertainers onboard? Do you expect Capt. Admarker and CD Eric Dowis to be on for the next few cruises? Did you find Eric as funny as we have heard and does he run a happy cruise?

Hope the seas calm down for you soon and an early WELCOME HOME! :D

Radio, just wondering how you have been invited for a bridge tour with the Captain. We were on the GOS in August and there were no bridge tours. Captain Hempstead did have a question & answer pereiod in the theater on the last sea day. It was my understanding that all bridge tours were stopped after 9/11.

I think Radio said earlier that he was invited because he is D+...you are correct, bridge tours are not "publicly" offered anymore after 9/11....not sure with RCCL but on my last 2 cruises I wrote a nice letter and placed it in a card addressed to the Captain and turned it in to the pursers desk requesting delivery to him and we were invited for a bridge tour BOTH times...once we were the only ones..and the other time we were a part of a group of about 15 people :)....so they do still do them...just discreetly...this time we are hoping for an engine room tour........I'm a girl geek

Captain Adnarker will be with Grandeur until December..Not sure about Eric.

Eric the CD was friendly, and pleasant...but I didn't find him very funny...!!

Hi Radio,

Simple question… You stated that as you were traveling up the east coast to Md, that it was gray and the boat was up and down… I was just curious how the temp was. Were most ladies on deck during the day wearing shorts or slacks?

We sail on the 13th and I am concerned I will be COLD during the day while the ship is at Sea.

Thanks for everything! Its funny because on this side of your trip, I mean reading your posts… the trip seams so long…. Until you are the one taking the trip I am sure.

Thanks,

Jackie in Md.

Thanks for all of your posts Radio - we are going on the Legend next but your pictures of Costa Maya really helped in the decision to go to the Cat's Meow and sit on the beach there.

In January I used all of your Mariner pictures to get my family excited about that trip. Your posts are the greatest!

Radio, I want to join in and thank you for the wonderful day by day descriptions and pictures sent while on your cruise. It was very informative and helpful to us as we are leaving on the Grandeur on the 13th as well. I checked your posts everyday and was never disappointed.

Thank you so much again!!!
