Not quite the answer I was looking for. I am trying to ascetain the correct telephone number to apply for a Norwegian Cruise Line credit card. I already have a MBNA credit card thanks.

Thanks for that but that particular link only works if you happen to be American. As I dont have a social security number in USA, it does not work for me

The terms and conditions say that B of A may issue a 1099 form. I assume that if they say they may, they will. I am wondering what other people's experience is with this. I need to decide whether I want to pursue this. I really am happy with the Citi Dividend and Chase Freedom cards I have, but I figure between the 10,000 mile bonus and the $2,500 dollar balance left on my cruise (which will get me 2 points per dollar spent), I am looking at having an extra $150 onboard credit for my cruise. It would probably be worth the small change it would cause to my taxes.

The double cross meta upgrade is a 2 category upgrade, so you pay for an inside cabin and get a 2 category upgrade to a balcony. The single meta is a 1 category upgrade so inside to ocean view or ocean view to balcony. You cannot use the meta upgrades to go past the balcony cabin so no upgrades up to mini suite or full suites

We originally use the double cross meta upgrade for the Sept 2015 British Isles cruise but came to our senses on having expensive vacations two years in a row (Hawaii this year followed by Europe equals too many $$$). Saw the Dawn is doing 14 day repo from Boston to New Orleans Oct 30, 2015 with several ports new to us. Never been to Boston and we love New Orleans so decided to cancel the BI cruise and book the Dawn. This time I picked the balcony I wanted (aft facing on deck 10) and then asked what inside category I'd have to choose to end up with the particular stateroom desired. NCL transferred me to a worldpoint specialist who was able to take care of everything in one phone call.

 

Our cost for the aft facing balcony using inside pricing with double cross meta upgrade is $1,829. Booking the aft facing balcony would have been $4,037 so we saved $2,200 on this cruise and got exactly the stateroom we wanted. Edited to add that subtracting the $600 in dollars lost by using the 60,000 points from the $2,200 price difference gives net savings of $1,600.

 

It doesn't have to be a longer cruise to enjoy a big savings - Alaska, Hawaii, or if you want a special balcony like we did are all candidates :)

It will be interesting to see if I get a tax form for using the double cross meta upgrade option and for how much they say it is worth. Based on calculations like Kjq makes above, we are about $2,000 ahead of what our 19 night stay in the bow balcony would have cost so I really won't mind paying some taxes if I HAVE to. However, I have never had to pay taxes on frequent traveler points when I have used them for biz class and for our tickets to Oz years ago, I think I calculated the points "saved" us almost $12,000:D

Does anyone know if NCL have any plans to make their CC available to its UK customers. Our next cruise will be our 4th with ncl, and as UK customers we feel it is a bit unfair that we don't have this option /benefit.

If I go through the NCL website to prepay the daily service charge, to buy the ultimate beverage package and to buy shore excursions, would all of those earn double points on the card?

Yes. As well as all on board expenses charged to your BoA card.

 

NCL.com transactions show as "NCL RESERVATIONS USD MIAMI FL"

WHY is it so difficult to find a phone number to call to redeem these points? What am I missing. I've redeemed lots of points in the past and every time the number/system changes.

It's accessed the same way for the longest time from the BoA website where you can see a list of all the rewards:

Note: The points are also good for any regular WorldPoints rewards which you access from the WorldPoints section of the website.

I sailed on May 25th...till June 1. The day before we disembarked, I went and got the cruise rewards. They talked me into the card. I haven't heard a thing since *shrug* the transfered my onboard charges to it. Maybe they'll forget and not charge me :p I should call probably

Here is link to NCL's WorldPoints rewards page - husband and I both have cards through BAC. One in his name with me as additional user, one in my name with him as additional user. We were able to combine our points so we had over 60,000 total.

I found cruise I wanted (British Isles 12 day next Sept), pulled up pricing on NCL website, opened cruisedeckplans in a separate browser and called NCL direct. We don't use our assigned PCC because they weren't too helpful. I just call the main number, press the want to book a cruise extension and take my chances with whoever gets the phone call. Explained to the NCL person what I wanted to do - - - pay for an inside stateroom and use 60,000 points to do the double cross meta upgrade to go to a balcony stateroom. Had the above link ready to go in case they didn't know what I was talking about. From the lowest available inside we would have had a balcony on deck 9 but that could have meant no staterooms below us ... noise factor from restaurants etc. We paid an extra $10 for inside stateroom to be able to go to deck 10 and I got to pick my stateroom from the balcony category.

This did take some time on the phone - NCL talking to supervisor, working with BAC to transfer the points but it all worked and was SO worth it.

ClayClayton did it the really great way . . found a stateroom he wanted, booked it, then had NCL revise his booking to use the double cross meta upgrade. Don't know if this is always possible but it worked for him and he has a fabulous stateroom and balcony for the cost of an inside. There are only two such staterooms on the Sun and we had one of them for our Alaska cruise.

 

NCL told me if I cancelled the cruise within appropriate time frame the credits would be reapplied to the WorldPoints card so they wouldn't be lost. I know this happens because we previously used 10,000 points to do "up to two category upgrade" to go from obstructed oceanview on POA to unobstructed OV .... when they had the kids of all ages sail free we revised our booking to a suite and the 10,000 points were put back on my card with no problem.

 

I just received my NCL card. I am planning on using my card to pay the remainder of my October cruise along with paying for my POA cruise. My situation is:

 

I booked the 9 day POA promo (free flight, hotel for 2 nights for 2 people in a BX). As of right now I know I will have the 20K points for a 4x upgrade before my sailing. Do you have any idea if that will get me up to a large or aft balcony. Should I call and see how much of an upgrade that it would get me when I have my points? Also how long is it before points expire? On the double cross meta are suites an option because I wouldn't mind a Haven spa suite on my NYE cruise.

You didn't ask, but IMHO, the double cross meta upgrade is a better value than just the 4x upgrade. Suites are not an option on the double cross meta upgrade. I am not sure where in the fine print is says it, but it does.:mad: I was able to use that upgrade a month or so after I booked our preferred stateroom. Once I had sufficient points, I called back and after a 10-15 minute conversation, the agent informed me that we would be paying for inside but would be in "our" balcony.

 

Hope it works out just as well for you.

Unless I do lots of bonus points I don't think I could hit 60K by July, plus I might lose perks from the promo. I might be able to get to 60K by NYE 2015 or soon after. Do you know the timeframe on pints before they expire?
