Hi Diva!!

We are going on the 12 day next January. How much did you pack and are you planning on sending out laundry? I am a severe over-packer and I want to TRY to keep the luggage count down. DH would like that very much. The longest we have cruised is 8 nights, so I also would like to know how long it take you be over the whole food thing. How long before you are sick of all the food. All I keep thinking about is how am I going to survive, enjoy the great food and still maintain this weight. Thanks for taking the time to post live.

When we do the 12 night, I'm not even going to bother to try and keep the luggage count down. I don't have to worry about it, because we can drive to the port. So I'll just bring whatever it is I need for 12 days. If that means 3 suitcases each, oh well :o

For maintaining your weight, go to the gym. Or walk around the jogging track a few times a day. There is no way I could eat all that food for 12 days straight anyway.

I never eat 3 meals a day at home, and I don't do it on vacation either. I'll have some fruit in the afternoon just like I do at home or work.

I don't eat a lot of desserts. And by the second day I'm done eating a big breakfast. By the 4th day, I am ordering a salad, soup and maybe some fish for dinner. That's on a 7 day or 8 day cruise.

I'm not a big eater to begin with, so it's easy for me to get on a ship and stay the same weight. embarkation day and the first day, I enjoy myself trying everything. but then I land up feeling stuffed that by the second day I go back to my normal way of eating.

So my answer is if you think you just want to enjoy yourself for 12 days and eat lots of food, go to the gym and work out or buy some clothes a little big to wear towards the end of the cruise.

Double Holiday Cruise sounds like quite a blast.

I assume the 14 bags you are taking include some for family members? :D And I thought DW overpacked...

Wish I were on Explorer, however it would only be DD and I since DW has to work thru Thursday...may be working on Friday as well as we drive to Tampa. So glad technology is where it is...she can plug in computer to cig lighter/power port, plug Verizon UBS card in to connect to net as we drive and work like she is in the office with all her calls forwarded to her blackberry. I'll refrain from working while driving...

Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!! We will be on the high seas for New Years Eave as well.

WOW!! What a great day! Embarkation was smooth- arrived at Cape Liberty around 11:30 and was on Explorer by 12:30. 30 minute wait to get to the tent to unload, it was pretty organized.

Dave Chapman is cruise director.....I wonder where Allan is? Altho Dave does a fabulous job! We decided Dizzy's it was for Sail away since it was raining. It was great fun to meet everyone from our roll call. Sail away was smooth but it is just a bit rocky now. My kids are tired from the bonine, DH and I didnt take any and we are fine. The dining room seems under control and the VIDALIA TART was yummy!

I havdent had a chance to read through so I'll post this out to you guys and read on!!

I did quickly see one post about being an obsessive over packer (or something like that?? :) ) Well, we are a fdamily of 4 and we had 14 pieces of luggage- 4 huge rollies 3 huge duffles 2 garment and the rest big sportsbag type i guess. We live close to cape liberty and fin d it a luxury to be able to overpack! I know some would think we're nuts....but we need our ice skates.

We ran into Crew that we know and its so great to see them again! Hugs galore! Gotta love RCI crew!

Stay tuned I'll BBL

Hey Diva!!

I can relate to the luggage situation, and think your 14 is normal. When we drove from Mass to NJ for the 9 day cruises, we had to rent a van to accommodate our luggage. We had 12 pieces for the 4 of us. 4 extra large LL Bean rolling duffel's (all clothes), 2 large suitcase (one just all shoes, one all crew goody bags, health and beauty stuff, hair dryer (hate theirs), etc etc etc -lots of ETC stuff...lol), a stuffed garment bag suitcase, 4 med sized duffel's that were our carry ons, and the other carry on suitcase with the laptop and cameras and power strips etc.

I think I only have one question that probably has to be answered at the end of the cruise, and that will be how many formal nights and did everyone do formal for Xmas and New Years if they weren't a designated formal night.

Please give my best to all the friends I never got to meet on the cruise!!!! Tell Jen and Suzanne and Kim, I hope we meet at another time!!

Merry Christmas Diva!!

Like Chris said, cannot believe it's been 5 months since we were all together on EOS for Bermuda. Enjoy, enjoy and enjoy some more. Peek into cabin 9624 if you ever get a chance, that's our JS for March, lol. I look forward to your posts this week. It will be quiet at work and give me something to do, lol. I'll also read your posts while we are on Majesty for NYE. Hugs to all! Anne

Good Morning Cruise Critic!!

Nothing like waking up & looking out at the great sea! It is reasonably smooth sailing this morning! Our meet & mingle is scheduled for 1pm in the Chamber. Vibeology is the show tonight after Captain Eriks welcome.

Anne I will try and peek into your cabin. We're on deck 9 on the hump and the furniture and carpet appear new and clean.

Denice...i'll know better aftert the cruise- but there ARE 3 "scheduled" Formal nights and New Years eve is NOT one of them (so there are 4 in my head! lol)

Freeway, great to see you!! We met on my first Live From thread, so Im really glad to see you checking in!

Radio......Im going to have a blast! Posting is part of it. What else can I add to my Live??

Little britain....Last nights menu was a blurrrr...but it was vidalia tart, prime rib, vanilla-chocolate mousse and I STILL DO NOT like Seattle Bests coffee..Ewwwww....

The mus-ac on the television is Christmas tunes....

Sea-Cruise.....Im laughing we havent gotten to that end of the Promenade yet! We found the most amazing spot for the Promenade Sail away though.....We came up the Casino stairs and were at the top of the staircase just as the Parade was starting!

We turn on watches ahead this evening. Make me a Billionaire- gameshow with a twist?? *tonight* Today there is a Slot tournament and Bingo with cash prize AND Bridge tour prize..trivia, face painting, adult scrap booking workshop, Dive program, accupuncture seminar and much much more!!

Hi cruisediva,

Since we are about 1/2 hour from Bayonne, I am starting to think this might be one of our next cruises. Worried about the weather though and how rough it can get......I know you take a chance but...

What's the weather like now and whereabouts are you today? Is is pretty smooth sailing?

Thanks so much for doing this.

CruiseDivaNJ:

Enjoy the holidays on EX and thanks for the live posts!

There is a small Christmas tree when you walk into the Windjammer (left side). There's also a gingerbread house display by the Cafe' Promenade as well. Big Christmas tree on the other side of the Cafe' Promenade. Ship is nicely decorated and really enjoyed it on the 12/2 cruise.

Have a blast!!!

Sea ya!
