Port Canaveral Parking Questions

Will be driving to Port Canaveral from Fort Myers and was wondering if any one knows about the parking situation when cruising the Carnival Magic. Although I have sailed Carnival 18 times, this will be the first cruise from Port Canaveral. It seems like I have 2 basic choices. Park in the fenced, no roof area a few blocks from the ship and take the shuttle. Cost is about $62.65 for the week. The other choice is the Parking Garage which is roofed at pier CT8 for $120.00 for the week. Looks like it is walking distance to the ship from the car although I am not positive about this. I am surprised that Carnival does not provide more data regarding parking for the cruise. If any one has any experience with Port Canaveral parking, would be interested in your comments.

We usually park off site. If you are staying the night before a number of hotels such as Radaisson have shuttles to the pier.

much cheaper to book parking at port Canaveral ahead of time. we paid 75.00 for the deck in February. go to port Canaveral parking website. there is a walkway over the roadway to the arrival hall. you drive in to the parking area, drop your luggage, then go to the deck and walk back across to check in. easy. you will need to have your ID, and cruise tickets ready when you pull up, before you drop off luggage.

We recently parked at the cruise terminal. I like having my car in a covered space and not having to depend on a shuttle. We've done the shuttles several times at various ports and many times they are fine but a couple times we've had to wait or had some type of hassle. You can drop your bags and passengers right in the lot and then park less than 100 yards away. Quick and easy and worth it to me. I'm pretty sure there is no discount for booking ahead of time. Local hotels offer a discount voucher for the cruise parking after a stay but it doesn't sound like that will help you.

^^ This ^^

Used Port Canaveral on-site parking in January. It's $120 for week or $72 with hotel discount voucher. As stated, pull in, drop the bags and passengers. Drive car across the street to the garage, then 3 minute walk back to terminal door.

Hi! We also live in Fort Myers and are sailing on Magic departing June 18th for the Western Caribbean itinerary. When is your cruise?

I've looked at the parking situation too and looks like we will be paying the $120 to park. Hubby likes the convenience of the car being close and not having to wait on shuttles.

Every once in awhile they will return to different dock than starting point and the on site parking garage will have to shuttle you to your car. That I have heard can take almost forever.

While not directly on topic, be advised that Port Canaveral charges you only for the first cruise if you are planning for a B2B sailing.

You can pre pay on line and you get about a discount, but I called because we are doing a 10 day B2B cruise in 2 weeks.

The port manager said we only charge for the first cruise and have no way to know how long a car is parked, as they simply let you in after payment, no tag,s no stickers.

Thus my 3 day cruise came first and so we paid $60 for the 10 days.

so for those doing 14 day B2B it certainly seem like the port is the better choice.

I hate waiting on a shuttle.

Last cruise from Port Canaveral we stayed at a motel about 15 minutes away on I-95. They had coupons for half off for port parking. Best price around for sure.

When we did this in January, the hotel partner discount was 40% (brings parking down to $72)

I have never seen a pre-pay discount for parking at Port Canaveral, but the private close to the port parking operations offer a discount for paying in advance.

We've used "Park-n-Cruise" many times, and NEVER had a problem. Shuttle is quick, and prompt, and the savings, and fact that you don't have to negotiate the port traffic, makes the savings even sweeter. I doubt that I'll ever park at the onsite garage again. ;)

The ship-side parking increases will be in affect soon.

There are several off-site parking lots. Nowadays you can park off-site in the parking lot of the Doubletree hotel with free shuttle for $20 for the week.

Here is more information about your choices.

And here are pictures of the cruise terminal parking lots so you can see how far you have to walk (not far).

Doing the 5/7/2016 Casino Tournament cruise. Looks like I will choose the closest parking ($120) although I would be upset if they changed the return location as some one has already mentioned. Then to wait for a shuttle. Yikes. On the other hand, I plan to win the $50,000 first place tournament prize so a lousy extra $60 parking fee and a shuttle would not matter.

TIP: If you booked a back-to-back cruise you're in luck! Currently there is no way for the system to accept payment for a B2B, so your parking is FREE during the follow-up cruise. You only pay for the first cruise as long as you do not move your vehicle between cruises.

This is what I was told, if you book directly with them and pre pay there is a discount.

We paid $60 for 10 days of parking...I'll be fine with ship side :D

Just plug in the ship and date

Our issue is when will I drop off DH & his mobility scooter. Do I drop him & scooter off with the luggage or do I drop off the luggage, then park & get his scooter out, then both go to the terminal.

I read on the Port Canaveral website "Disabled parking spaces are available and the fee is waived for vehicles that have special equipment, such as ramps, lifts, foot or hand controls." We will have to lift the scooter out of the back of our pickup truck. Are we eligible for this waiver?

Will the truck fit in their parking space? Will we have to pay extra for the truck? Do they charge by the size of the vehicle?

Do we need to make arrangements ahead of time?

That rate is assuming they charge you for 7 days for a 7 day cruise. When I ask for a quote I received a quote for 8 days. Saturday to Saturday. I emailed this question to them:

Message Body:

> Why am I quoted a price for 8 days when I put in dates encompassing 7 24 hour periods? 7 day cruises generally run Sun-Sun or Sat- Sat and you charge for 8 days. A car dropped off at noon on Sun and picked up before noon the following Sunday should not be 8 days.

I received this response:

Our rates are calculated by calendar date in lieu of hourly...so rates would include the day of check in through the day of check out.

Sincerely;

Todd Oakey

Park n Cruise

Thus a 7 day cruise will cost you the rate for 8 days. So $80 and change with their fees tacked on. Still cheaper than the port but I won't be parking there.

That's common at all Port Canaveral parking lots as far as i can remember. Plus tax...

Instead these guys, Go Port Canaveral, are doing a promotion of free parking https://www.goportcanaveral.com/services/cruise-parking.php just pay for the transportation to the ship and back to the lot for a flat tax free $10 per person!

Read your post and it was very helpful as I am doing a 15 day B2B from PT on Magic.

Did I read this correctly? $10 per person for transport and FREE PARKING? Is there any catch? I notice it only embark/leave the lot at 3 times?

DISCLAIMER - I am not affiliated with goportcanaveral or Beach Line in any shape or form, so my comments are 100% impartial!

This port parking deal is in my opinion one of the best deals around! There is no catch as far as I know and I see the cars come and go almost daily.

You park in the Doubletree Hotel parking lot and the Beachline Shuttle buses arrive at certain times to pick and drop passengers.

To avoid waiting for the shuttle van, arrive about 10 minutes before departure time, park and walk straight up to the van! Simply as that!

The whole process is obviously a lot cheaper than anywhere else and also a lot simpler. No long lines, no handing over of keys.

The only drawbacks I can think of are:

1. Parking is not secured (no fences) but there have not been any reports of breakins or vehicle damage at Cocoa Beach hotels as far as I know. You can always put a cover over your vehicle if you want.

2. Fewer shuttles than the top two parking companies but also fewer passengers so the whole process is relaxed and easy.

3. The location is a short distance to the south and not to the west so you are somewhat in the wrong direction if you have to drive north or to Orlando but the backtracking will only cost you about 30 minutes at most.

If you are looking to save money on parking then this is by far the best deal in town. I see more and more vehicles on the lot every week so I think the word is getting out!

Here are two pics of the parking and shuttle van:

Thank you SteerageJoe.

I will give this a shot and will post back with my experience after Feb 24.

I have park off lot at the POM and Tampa. Each time I am OK with it. Just a little wait, but I am not complaining with the $ save.
