bottomrung Posted March 7, 2010 #1 Share Posted March 7, 2010 On our carnival cruise a hairy chest contest was held poolside with several contestants. To say the least I would not want a video of this placed on my copy of the take home version to show family members. Some guys were respectable and some were not. One guy actually hunched the stair rail as he paraded down to the judges then approaching the first 2 judges he hunched them in the face. Are there any rules governing this contest? ShaneLemay Posted March 7, 2010 #2 Share Posted March 7, 2010 That is how all events are.... UNPREDICATABLE...... this is what makes if fun. If you are looking for only FAMILY FUN, you might want to try Disney. I hope you don't complain to Carnival, as this might deter the fun in the future. golfadj Posted March 7, 2010 #3 Share Posted March 7, 2010 Personally DW and I never liked this but lots of people do as you can not believe how many people are up on lido deck for it.
MrPete Posted March 7, 2010 #4 Share Posted March 7, 2010 A jerk can show up anywhere. We were on RCCL and they had a hairy legs competition. Some guy pulled down the back of his bathing suit to reveal his azz. It was a good thing we had all seen azz before. I will now get my dictionary out to look up hunch. onthehighseas606 Posted March 7, 2010 #5 Share Posted March 7, 2010 No one twists anyone's arm to go to these events on the ship. It draws a crowd because people laugh at the antics regardless of how dumb they are. I'm more offended by the thongs on people who should not even be wearing a bathing suit. Those IMHO are the eye sores. But heh, I'll never see them again but the image is firmly planted in my head.

Unfortunately I think it is the "jerks" who make for the fun, at least according to most people. We watched for a few minutes on our last cruise then wandered away. Takes all kinds. Nunu Posted March 7, 2010 #7 Share Posted March 7, 2010 I think the OP's point was whether or not it should be included on the video being sold. Fair question.

I bet the OP was trying to say : Ladies please leave the room and cover the childrens eyes as you escort them out. Ok god help me ....... HUMP!!!! Oh god I feel so dirty.....but its a good dirty:)
firefly333 Posted March 7, 2010 #9 Share Posted March 7, 2010 I think the OP's point was whether or not it should be included on the video being sold. Fair question. Maybe Carnival should leave of the x rated stuff, since who knows who sees the videos. For the ship stuff ... the guy who gets the most attention is who will win, so they are encouraged to be outrageous.

truchattycathy Posted March 7, 2010 #11 Share Posted March 7, 2010  I am one of the idiots on the lido watching and cheering and laugHing. But then I never buy the video. By the time I have left the ship, I have seen the show over and over on the tV.
mistyinca Posted March 7, 2010 #12 Share Posted March 7, 2010 I'm sorry, but not everything on the cruise has to be family-oriented. I travel with my kids too, so it's not like I don't understand, but the cruise is catering to a varied group of people. I think of the cruise as an adult activity with some things added for the kids. SugarCharlotte Posted March 7, 2010 #13 Share Posted March 7, 2010 It's a big ship- there are plenty of other places to take your little darlings when this event occurs. I have never even seen one in person (only on the cabin TV) because I'd rather relax at the quiet adults only area than be crowded by the main pool. Nunu Posted March 7, 2010 #14 Share Posted March 7, 2010 Ok OP are you saying they shouldn't have the contest or it shouldn't be on the video? I'm confused.
LambKnuckles Posted March 7, 2010 #15 Share Posted March 7, 2010 You have a great point... and so do all the posters... There are MANY MANY things going on and we can pick and choose... but the video, it's just one edition. I wonder if you can ask at the Guest services desk??? I have never had CARNIVAL be anything but helpful when I've asked for something specific. And with enough warning... I wonder if they could edit that out for you!!! 5waldos Posted March 7, 2010 #16 Share Posted March 7, 2010 Maybe there should be two versions- X rated and Family Friendly. I don't think you could request a special edition just for you. You can always fast forward it.
Cruiser1547228475 Posted March 7, 2010 #17 Share Posted March 7, 2010 Harry chest ? Humping ? I've seen worse. I've seen thongs on a cruise so far up the azz you couldn't see the string . Of course I had my shades on ,it was just too bright !:D

Cotton Posted March 7, 2010 #19 Share Posted March 7, 2010 I don't attend this 'event'. Don't care who does. However, I have simply walked through the pool area when it was going on - hey, just trying to get to the ice cream machine folks.:D I'm not a fuddy-duddy, BUT, the guy I glanced at was humping over an older lady reclined in a deck lounger. Neither she nor her husband (?) were amused. That is just not appropriate behavior on a family cruise ship. No class. That's my take. I'll just stay away as far as possible....and let those so inclined 'enjoy' the tacky performance. Hit me, I can take it.
salty dingo Posted March 7, 2010 #20 Share Posted March 7, 2010 One guy actually hunched the stair rail as he paraded down to the judges then approaching the first 2 judges he hunched them in the face. Are there any rules governing this contest? That certainly violates the "no face-hunching" clause in the hairy chest rulebook. But were they using American rules or Caribbean rules? LivingWild Posted March 7, 2010 #21 Share Posted March 7, 2010 OK. I just looked up the definition of "hunched" and do not quite get where some are calling this "X" rated. Calling it "R" would not even cover it correctly. Are you saying they should not allow "PG" activities in the video or they should put a rating on it? okwriter Posted March 7, 2010 #22 Share Posted March 7, 2010 I haven't seen one of these competitions, but it sounds much milder than what is on TV these days.
bakechef Posted March 7, 2010 #23 Share Posted March 7, 2010 LOL, X-rated!!! PG 13 maybe. This isn't really an activity that I enjoy watching, but many do, so I say let it be. See when you get people out in the hot sun all day drinking, crazy things are bound to happen. I find the event a bit tacky, but I don't expect the rest of the world to live by my standards. CWcruisers Posted March 7, 2010 #24 Share Posted March 7, 2010 Can we all just take some personal responsibility and stop wanting our surroundings "censored" to suit all classes. This is how "Big Brother" takes over. If you don't like what you see, don't watch. That's called freedom.

My thoughts too.. x-rated?? People do not go into the disco... especially the under -18 hours... You will have a heart attack:p Guess there's no chance Carnival will adopt the Quest!:cool:
