Marxist Union leader plots London Tube chaos from the Silver Spirit

Lovely story in today's Sunday Times about Bob Crow, leader of the militant RMT Union enjoying two weeks on the Spirit cruise from Barbados to Rio over the last couple of weeks, whilst organising two separate 2 day strikes on the London Underground this week and next week.

So that's why he was unavailable for any last minute negotiations to get the strikes called off.

Not sure if this is the sort of publicity that SS's PR department really needs.

I would expect a more believable story to be someone riding on the London Underground while planning two strikes against Silversea.

Wow! I would have considered Morning Star or Daily Mirror to be described as "gutter press;" definitely not the Daily Mail. I guess the unions leaders are finding ways to still live the good life on Other People's Money; the very people they are supposed to represent.

Daily mail - definitely more in the gutter that the Daily Mirror.

Bob Crow - a Marxist? That's a joke, he is just another fat cat on the gravy train milking it for all he is worth. (Apologies for very mixed metaphor)

Really? It doesn't "make Silversea look good either? " You have got to be kidding me. Maybe they should do background checks on passengers before allowing them to purchase a cruise. Does Seabourn or other cruise lines do that? Obviously, there was someone British onboard who decided to use the opportunity to expose the fellow. Granted, the fellow sounds like a "whateever", but someone decided to use the opportunity to profit from it. ...and obviously it was someone who knew who he was (which would only be someone from the UK) because no one else in the world knows who this fellow is or cares.

You have made the probably incorrect presumption that a Brit outed him for profit.

He is probably one of the most reviled men in Britain by virtually all including union members. Mr Luxury is quite correct in there is no upside to him travelng SS for the lne, but a number of people who have not travelled SS before may incorrectly presume the line has gone further down market than it already has as a result of his patronage.

Coincidentally I watched an old film on TV a couple of days ago

"I'm alright Jack" from 1959 with Ian Carmichael,Terry Thomas and the great Peter Sellars playing the trades union shop steward Fred Kite,what a funny film.

Peter Sellers won a Bafta for best actor with his performance.

I'm sure it must be Bob Crows favourite film.

This story is bringing out the snob in me, I'm afraid, so I won't repeat here in public what I said to my husband this morning about Mr Crow selecting Silversea rather than another type of cruise line for his holiday.

I certainly wouldn't want to be on a cruise with him, and I agree that it does little for the profile of SS in my opinion having him onboard.

Daily Mail is firmly in the gutter and I am peeved on a daily basis when I see commments online quoting it as if it's a reliable source. It's been at least two decades since the publication had any credibility in Britain.

I know that over enthusiastic guests sometimes like to get up and sing, but if there's actual organised karaoke, that's surely the final nail in the Silversea coffin for me. I'll go to Benidorm for my next holiday.
