Why do you cruise repeatedly?

OK Most of us are repeat cruisers. I can see that by our signatures :) So I guess my question is do you have a special event you celebrate every year, or do you just love cruising and that's how you spend your vacation time? Some of you seem like you're on the water more than land! LOL

My husband and I went on a few cruises and I fell in love with it and he decided it's not for him. My mom does European cruises and river cruises through a diff line than Carnival, but a couple summers ago, my mom, me, and my two little girls went on a cruise on the Elation and we were HOOKED. Now we do a Girls' cruise every summer and leave my husband at home with the dogs!!!

What's your story? What got you started cruising?

We started cruising back in 1999 and fell in love with it. We use to go to Vegas a few times a year and now no longer go with the deals we receive through Carnival's players club. Might as well spend my money in a Carnival casino then a Vegas casino. We have completed 36 cruises and have 37 & 38 already booked. We also celebrate big events, our next cruise on the freedom we have the Captains suite booked for our daughters graduation.:D

We went on our first cruise for our 25th wedding anniversary in 2004. We were hooked! We always cruise in September, and had no idea the first time that we were sailing right in the middle of hurricane season. We have now cruised 6 times during hurricane season and never had a problem. Lucky, I guess. We are going on our first b2b in September again for our 36th anniversary.

I'm going to date myself here...lol. But we started in 1979 and took a Honeymoon Transatlantic Cruise on the QEII. Started in earnest 1n 1992 with our children and have cruised annually and sometimes 2x a year until we took a break in 2009.... Making up for lost time tho...Cruised on The Breeze in January and will be on Regal Princess next week.

We find cruises are exceptional value and were wonderful for our children (who loved them) while giving them some controlled freedom while on board.

I started cruising in November 2003. It continues to be the best value for a vacation of any type. It doesn't matter if I go to Cozumel 30 times, each cruise is different because of the other cruisers on the ship. Cruises are for me relaxing vacations. That's pretty much explains it all.

I've been cruising over 30 years, 102 cruises so far. It's one of the best vacation values around, meals lodging and transportation all in one. I did 17 last year, so my per year has increased. Early on, it wasn't even once per year. Over the last 10, it's been at least 5 per year.

I am picky however, itinerary is my priority and finding those late booking bargains a thrill. :)

I took my first cruise in April 2014. We went again in November, February, and are booked for April. Yup, 4 times in 12 months. We are obsessed! We love it and it's cheaper than a land vacation in most cases. The only thing that bites is airfare. I need to move to Florida.

We cruise often because we know where we're going, where we're going to eat and sleep. It's a fairly inexpensive vacation and it fits our lifestyle. We've been to the same ports numerous times and we're not burned out yet. We might venture to Caribbean next if the air flight is reasonable.

Cruises are the cheapest vacations for us. Plus no one fights over where we eat. I have 2 teenage daughters, and that's the biggest fight they have when we go out. No one argues about food on a cruise. That alone is worth it to me. :D

I cruise twice a year because we have a nice ocean front condo in Myrtle Beach. We go there with every available family member who can possibly come down. We then have dishes to wash every nite from the snacks, lunches from whoever eats there during the day. Towels pile up so the laundry must be done. The floor needs swept as the cereal, chips, etc can't stay in a bowl. We are now out of milk and mayo so back to the grocery store I go. Since it is our condo, my husband insists we bring both cats, so litter scooping continues on vacation.

Do I need to continue on why I prefer cruising?

I never wanted to cruise. Always liked land based vacations, but my wife finally twisted my arm. Sailed NCL Sky in August 2011 and did not like it, but told my wife I would give it one more chance. We sailed in June 2012 on CCL Liberty and I was hooked. It is very easy for us to cruise as we are within three hours of four ports and the cost can't be beat for a vacation. We love the islands much more than the ships, but love the open ocean too.

I cruise repeatedly because I stay in a perpetual Kenny Chesney frame of mind. I will embark on number 33 this coming weekend. Life is good.

My hubby and I took our first cruise to celebrate our 25th Anniversary back in 2005, we celebrated our 35th Anniversary on Splendor, this year, I told the hubby I didn't care what we did for our 25th, just as long as we did something special, he researched online at Carnival, he got a call from Jennifer, our PVP, we've used her ever since, we have cruised at least once a yr except for 2009, we sent our daughter and son in law on their honeymoon cruise that year, we made up for not going ourself by b2b cruises last yr, haven't booked yet but next yrs cruise is in the planning stage, Liberty next March

We are quite new to cruising. Our first cruise was on Carnival Triumph (Sept 2009) and we are hooked.

Cruises are the perfect family vacation! The parents can have fun and relax while kids are having a blast in the kids club or in the pool. :D

We also own a timeshare but I prefer cruising.

I have our families first cruise booked for October. I can already tell that we will be hooked. Already looking to book a second one before we have went on the first  We own two timeshares use those but I could see also doing one to two cruises a year in my future. DH does get five weeks of vacation after all :D

I feel in love with cruising almost 15 years ago when I took my mom on a trip. She and I both became hooked and started getting the rest of the family on board. Then I got married and my husband and I took a cruise for our honeymoon and he fell in love. We took one more cruise as a couple and then went on hiatus for awhile because of kids. Our kids are adopted from both foreign countries and America so with immigration and documentation we didn't get to cruise for awhile. Our youngest came home from China two years ago and our other children wanted to try a cruise and so we went on the breeze. My kids are now hooked too. My older kids love the freedom of the kids clubs. My 8 year old loves everything about it and even has her own ship mate app on her iPad. Our two youngest even love it. Now I have four cruises planned over the next two years. We are trying our first Disney cruise this fall. Next fall we are trying Ncl's escape (first time cruising Ncl in years), then hubby and I are finally getting our first vacation in alone on the vista (my parents our taking our kiddos for the week), and then a girls trip with my four girls and my mom in our first suite on the Ncl dawn in two years. The rates on Ncl have been phenomenal so we were able to get a suite for the six of us.

You can say we are a cruise addicted family

Cruising has become an annual tradition for DH & I. He is retired but I still work fulltime so we have to plan our trip around my vacation time.

When I'm asked why do I like going on cruises all the time, I like to quote what I read here one time - "Cruising is like travelling but you get to take your hotel room with you". I love visiting different ports but I also love sea days, so cruising is just right for me ! :)

We will be leaving on our 6th cruise in 19 days and after this winter we've had, I can't wait !!

My goal, once I retire will be to do a B2B after that, maybe a B2B2B !!! :D

The phone doesn't ring or vibrate! It stays in the safe ALL WEEK!

I don't have to drive anywhere

I don't have to cook any food or do dishes

I love the beach

The islands are wonderful

Everything is so laid back and you can actually relax!

I had never cruised when I met DH eight years ago. We were both widowed. DH had done nine cruises. We began cruising then, and haven't slowed down much. For a while we RV'd and used our timeshares. But now, we mostly enjoy cruising. A lot. It is always a new thrill to be on the ocean, go new places and meet new friends! :)

Since the first on the Mardi Gras in 1976 to the three we have booked this year I never grow tired of it.

The room and our stuff moves to different places, I don't have to get the family to agree on when and where we have dinner and when our daughter was younger she did well finding new friends.

With all that said, I travel 50% of the time for my career, live on a cell phone and computer and have deadlines that never end. Cruises let me unplug.

Now we are both 55, Galveston is 45 min away and I can get vacation when I want. Cruises are cheaper than ever before.

Is that enough?
